A
trip
to
Warsaw
is
incomplete
without
visiting
The
Neon
Muzeum
in
Warsaw
today.
If
you
enjoy
photography,
graphic
art,
history
or
simply
a
slower
place,
this
is
the
muzeum
for
you.
It’s
set
in
a
beautiful
listed
building
that
survived
destruction
when
Poland
was
occupied.
David
and
Ilona
run
the
museum
and
their
story
is
inspiring.
Warsaw
used
to
be
lit
up
like
the
Vegas
strip
until
the
communist
invasion.
The
muzeum
started
as
a
little
project,
an
ode
to
the
Neon
signs
that
were
removed
or
discarded
in
the
city.
Ilona
and
David
set
up
a
phone
hotline
for
collecting
neon
signs
and
their
phones
did
not
stop
ringing
for
years.
The
project
became
a
gallery
to
house
refugee
signs.
The
muzeum
houses
a
large
collection
of
neon
signs,
ranging
from
written
typography
to
visual
illustrations.
This
muzeum
is
worth
visiting
and
you
can
meander
through,
or
pause
to
listen
to
a
curated
tour
of
the
history
of
Neon
signs.
What
struck
us
was
that
Mike
&
Ilona’s
muzeum
is
a
celebration
of
the
diversity
of
Warsaw.
The
polish
resilience
is
renowned
and
can
make
for
a
sad
story.
Come
visit
the
Neon
muzeum
for
colour
and
jubilance.
