The Mariavite Church is organizationally derived from the honorary movement. In 1926, on the order of the then church leader, Jan Maria Michał Kowalski, the churches at ul. Skaryszewska and Karolkowa and two parish houses at ul. Szara and Karolkowa. The Wola parish, deprived of its temple, started building a church at ul. Wolska. The work was completed in the 1930s. The church was seriously damaged, first in September 1939, then during the uprising in 1944. Lack of financial resources meant that the church was rebuilt only in 1960, thanks to the donations of Mariavites from all over Poland. The church area was reduced in size due to the location of the tram loop there. In 1994, the construction of a new temple was started in the western part of the square, designed by Juliusz Marcinowski. On August 3, 1994, Chief Bishop Tymoteusz Kowalski consecrated the cornerstone. The work was completed in 1997. The Mariavite parish in Warsaw has approximately one and a half thousand believers
