Love the food at this place! The food is so tasty and full of flavour,the atmosphere is cozy and the service is on high level, you should not miss it if you are in Prague. We tried the pie soup, the spinach pancakes and the healty bowl. Loved all of them.

Went in on a Monday night and we’re able to get seats without a reservation. I was excited to try the vegetarian Czech food the reviews raved about and I wasn’t disappointed. The goulash used (I think soy-based) veggie meats in a savory sauce and a type of squishy dumpling-bread. The svickova was true to the traditional sweetness and featured similar dumpling-bread. I definitely enjoyed the black beer goulash more and would come here to get this again. The ambience was also appealing and appreciated. I’m so glad a vegetarian restaurant exists that serves traditional Czech foods!

I had a vegetarian goulash - which traditionally is not a Czech but Hungarian meal - but regardless of its origin, it tasted amazing and very similar to its meaty original, which I found quite impressive. Maitrea has a large but not an overwhelming amount of dishes on the menu and I’d love to try them all. If you’re vegetarian or vegan it is a must-go when in Prague!

As vegans we were highly disappointed by the food quality and taste, as well as the service itself. The gluten-free beer tasted off. We ordered the vegan version of the Paella and the Goulash with dumplings. At least we thought we get that...but instead of a Paella (that many people recommended in their reviews) we got a rice-mushroom-tofu mix with a plain taste. Not even the seasoning was in any way reminding of a Paella. For the Goulash that we ordered because we wanted the original Czech dumplings we got it served with plain potatoes instead, since the staff didn't inform us that the dumplings aren't vegan. Directly when the food was served we complaint, but neither the kitchen took it back and let us choose an alternative, not die they compensate us on the final receipt. It was such a disappointment. However, there is a great vegan restaurant on the other side of the river just beneath the city's castle where we found fantastic fresh and delicious vegan food. But Maitrea? Thanks no, not again.

We got a table on the ground floor which does not have a great ambience like that of the basement level. The vegan goulash were just soya nuggets in goulash sauce and Thai curry was flavourful. However the portions weren't filling. In dessert section we tried strawberry crumble which was decent .

The local seems super fancy but i ordered the goulash and the flavor was like eating puree alcohol , so disgusting sauce. The Burguer was fine but is only has cheese and bread, so i recommend to eat other thing. I think the best menu is curry, because if you want to eat a good risotto make it yourself because the flavor is like drink water. I will back to try other vegan restaurants but won't be this one, thanks! But the salt was a really vegan salt, so good!

Delicious! Love that they do veg versions of popular Czech dishes. We had the goulash, sirloin and side of potato gratin. Highly recommend them all. The sirloin is not what you expect (see pic), but don't let that put you off. It's one of those dishes you will think about and crave. Lovely space, great for date night and don't forget to book.

Nice food, a lot of choices. I chose the typical Czech (Hungarian) goulash dish with 'dumplings', which basically are pieces of soft bread. The "meat" was a mixture of soy and seitan and had a great texture. I also had the tofu "foie gras," which had quite a meaty taste, but since I never had the real foie gras, I can't say anything about how real it was. Next time I will definitely try the other dishes, since the local dishes are tastewise just not my personal favorites. Great service and surprisingly affordable for the location.

I was absolutely starving by the time we found Matirea (it was a national holiday so everything was closed/the open breweries not offering vegan options) so I was about 10 minutes away from eating my own arm, but, still, the food here was great! And thank you for being open on a holiday... The deco inside is really cool, eastern/Buddhism vibes, with Sanskrit (I think?) on the walls and cosy lighting. The loos are downstairs and on the way I saw they have more seating and nice decorations but it was closed on this particular day. Seitan roast was tasty, even my omni boyfriend ate some. It wasn't what I was expecting—as you can see from the pic it's more like shredded seitan or gyros/döner style than a big chunk or slices like a normal roast. But, it tasted good. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the menu but from what I remember, it was a bit more expensive than the other vegan and non-vegan places we tried around the city.

I had great meals here on both my visits to Prague with different family members. Although I was the only vegetarian, everyone else was pleased with the food and the decor. They serve highly delicious food. And their waiter was friendly (as opposed to many other places in Prague which have rude people serving). We ordered cold starters plate for two people as appetizers and then ordered maitrea burger for two people. It was more than enough food for both of us and unfortunately we couldn't finish them all but everything on the plates were extremely tasty. Highly recommend this place! Note: The burger plate is already missing the half of the burger because we had already started eating the other half when I took the photo.
