Review of my Stay at Clown & Bard Hostel in Prague I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Clown & Bard Hostel in Prague, and I must say that it was far from pleasant. From the moment I arrived, the reception left a lot to be desired. The lady working at the reception had a high attitude and was consistently rude in her responses. I found her to be extremely unhelpful and unwelcoming. The condition of the hostel rooms was appalling. They were not only dirty but also had an unbearable stench that permeated the entire space. To make matters worse, I discovered bed bugs during my stay, which was a horrifying experience. The beds and blankets were also incredibly smelly, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. The state of the bathrooms was equally disappointing. They were clearly not cleaned regularly, and I encountered feces on the floor, which was utterly unsanitary and unhygienic. It was evident that the cleanliness of the facilities was not a priority for the hostel. One of the major issues I faced during my stay was the noise level within the hostel. The other guests were extremely loud and inconsiderate, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. I felt unsafe due to the rowdy behavior and the lack of security measures in place. Additionally, the loud music emanating from the underground pub made it impossible to get any rest or sleep peacefully. The kitchens were also in a deplorable state. They were dirty and unkempt, making it difficult to prepare a meal or even find clean utensils. Overall, my experience at the Clown & Bard Hostel was exceptionally poor. The unhelpful and rude receptionist, coupled with the dirty and bug-infested rooms, unclean bathrooms, disruptive guests, and noisy surroundings, made for an extremely uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a pleasant and enjoyable accommodation experience in Prague.

This place is a joke. My friends and I got rooms at clown and bard for our stay in Prague and the experience was the worst I have ever had in a hostel. When we initially got there, the receptionist was rude and began adding extra charges onto the room we had already paid for. This included a security deposit for the keys, which they didn’t even have enough for our entire group to get keys. We had to make a fuss then and there to get them to actually put in an ounce of effort to find the final key for our group. The rooms were dingy, musty, and outdated. The receptionist informed us that the showers only had cold water because their heater was still broken, but it would be fixed soon enough. We had a total of two outlets in our room meant for two people. We set our stuff down to explore Prague and when we returned, decided to rest on our beds. It was while laying on my bed that I was suddenly swarmed by these little white flying bugs. Then, I looked over and realized there were bed bugs climbing behind the headrest of the bed. My friend, who had decided to take a nap, had bed bugs swarming all over his neck. And these weren’t just baby bed bugs, these were large bed bugs that had clearly been there for a while. We immediately went to reception to resolve the issue, but they were too busy serving drinks and just gave us keys to a new random room. To ensure that we weren’t bringing bed bugs into our new room, we took a shower… a cold, miserable shower. During said shower, my friends found bed bugs in their beds as well and when they informed reception, they responded with frustration that they hadn’t been informed earlier. We’re sorry WE just found bed bugs in YOUR establishment. We’ll do a more thorough search next time. And our new rooms weren’t much better: the new bed had a dead bed bug lying on it when we got there. And how was management going to fix all of this? Spraying our original mattress with pesticides and then sending us back in. For us to breathe in while we sleep. A brilliant solution by the clowns running this circus. TLDR; do not stay at Clown and Bard. Save yourself the stress of having to deal with these jokers and just get an AirBnB or stay somewhere else.

The rooms are quite crammed so you feel very much on top of one another, which can be quite invasive when sharing a room with strangers. The lockers didn't lock either, which is not great when leaving your belongings in the room. Apart from a tiny table in your shared 6 bed dorm, they don't have anywhere for you to sit and eat your meals, as they only have the terraces open at limited times. The shower as well, whenever switched on, smelt badly of sewage. They said they provided kitchen facilities, however upon arrival it was a very very limited and small so you weren't really able to cook any meals. The location was good however which was a benefit.

A great experience, stayed for three weeks and the atmosphere was great! A nice place to sleep and a nice place to hang out in the evenings as well. Very homely staff and a great place to meet fellow travellers of the world. Also, extremely cheap and good location for exploring the city!

The name of the place lives up to the experience: the bard is the misleading advertising that presents the hostel, and the clown is you for believing it. The rooms are terrible, with extremely uncomfortable beds, the Wi-Fi doesn't work inside the rooms, you have to stay in the hallway to get a connection. The cleanliness of the environment is poor, with one of the bathrooms completely flooded. So I went to talk to the staff of the place, and their rudeness was glaring. They didn't help at all and even gave me dirty looks, as if I were bothering them by asking for a solution to the bathroom and Wi-Fi problems. And to top off the terrible experience, the hostel is located at the top of a hill, so if you use public transportation, you'll have to climb 3 streets with an incline of 55°~60°. Good luck. It was the worst hostel experience I've ever had; I recommend staying at Plus Prague instead. I stayed there for one night, and it was wonderful.

The experience starts right away as soon as you enter the bar to pick up your keys. The place has a very nice atmosphere and the personal was very helpful. They helped us out with our requests as soon as they came, and they were always ready to give us additional tips regarding places to visit or tourist traps to avoid. Also, if you get the chance to meet Richard consider yourself lucky. Not only our stay in the hostel, but the whole experience of Prague, went up to a completely new level thanks to him. Definitely looking forward to going there again when the next opportunity arises!

My friend and I stayed here for just over a week and I can’t recommend it enough. We truly enjoyed our time here. The rooms are very clean and spacious with a kitchen to make your dinner. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and make you feel part of the team. They even invited us to activities outside of the hostel. I would highly recommend.

Interesting stay.. When we arrived first in Prague, I looked up the place and happened to see some reviews from 2 days ago (we had this booked months in advance). Many recent reviews said there was bed bugs.. and we freaked out. As it was already paid, we went and explained our worries, and the guy at the reception said everything was fixed and he seemed nice. We checked the room and it was fine. The mattress are quite literally paper thin, and there was one socket in the room. The rooms were also very warm. But the bathrooms/kitchens were clean. Also were given a hairdryer at reception. It is kinda noisy but out ear plugs in and you will sleep okay.

It was a nightmare. Mattresses and pillows are almost no exist and every bed linens are so tired. And I hope they provide equal service to any kinds of people, especially a black curly hair girl. It is not nice to change the attitude depending on what kind of people.

Look elsewhere than the Clown & Bard Hostel. From the moment we entered the establishment, we were greeted with a rude and disorganized reception staff. The deposit for room keys was petty and off-putting. We were then led to our rooms in the hostel. Our group of four was supposed to be sharing a room, in accordance with our reservation. However, the staff split us up between two rooms. We were also notified that the hot water heater in the unit was broken, so showers would be cold. After getting dinner that night, I decided to take a quick nap before plans to head out that evening. I was woken up to my friends with flashlights looking at bed bugs on the walls. Groggy, I slowly get up and see about a dozen bed bugs on my pillow and several on my neck and chest. My friend quickly brushed them off. We notified reception, which operates as a bar later in the night. I then went on to take a cold shower. Unfortunately, the staff member seemed more interested in pouring drinks than addressing our concerns. He did in fact give us a new room, though that room also had bed bugs. With no where to sleep and hotels nearby closed, we just took an all-nighter, just sitting in the plastic chairs of our room. That morning, we checked out and fortunately did receive a full refund for our stay, which I give them credit for, though again the reception was hostile and tried to argue that bed bugs are to be expected for a hostel that sees people from all around the world. In short, my group appreciates the refund, and this may be an uncommon experience at this hostel. I would be careful in booking here.

The room was spacious and has a fridge, two sinks, two stoves and cooking utensils. The staff were friendly as were the other guests, the bar is a great place to socialise with them. The bed wasnt too comfortable and the toilet door didnt close too well. Still good for the price.

Friendly staff. I liked how there was a more standard entrance/exit for guests with a key so they could come and go without going through the bar (where the main entrance is) each time. There's a great vegan Czech restaurant just around the corner, which we'd have loved even if it wasn't a 2 minutes walk away. Staff let us keep our large luggage in a locked room at the back, which was really helpful when we checked out late. The room was bit but wasn't as nice at the photos and had a big mold/water stain. Our room on the first floor felt far away from the noise of the bar which was nice but on one night, people had a party in their room all night and morning, and the sound really travelled through the corridor and walls, and we couldn't sleep at all.

This is by far the best hostel/motel/hotel I have ever stayed in. I can't even begin to express how well we were greeted upon arriving. The manager himself welcomed us with open arms, even though he was in the middle of checking out a whole group of guests. He offered to deposit our luggage until our check in, but we ended up talking to him all the way up until our check-in, without even noticing it! A couple of drinks and useful tips later, we were on our way to conquer the city. Upon returning in the evening, the atmosphere was even better than in the morning, and the place was filled with interesting people and guests staying at the hostel, from all over the world. Great location in Prague 3, the city center is about 15 minutes by public transport, and the Main railway station is about 10 minutes by foot. All in all, the hostel deserves 5 stars, but the staff and the overall experience that you are left with deserve even more. Will be visiting this place again sooner rather than later :D

A fun hostel with lots of friendly people and Richard, the best manager ever! Located in the best neighborhood, there is a bar at the reception with cheap beers, concert night occasionally and you can even play foosball! This was my second time at Clown & Bard and surely won’t be the last one. Thanks Richard for making our stay unforgettable.

Good: nice location, nice and comfortable apartments/rooms, nice stuff. Not so good: Got my apartment without toilet paper, couldn't get dishes' soap from the stuff despite numerous attempts, and the pub was unexpectedly quiet on mid-week evenings.

My stay in this hostel was really good. I stayed for 3 weeks in one of their studios which was like an small apartment. The studio was, cozy, clean, with a big bathroom and also had a small kitchen and fridge where you could cook. They have a bar downstairs and the staff is really nice and helpful, there is also a really cool vibe if you want to hang out, easy to meet people and they do some events, however, the rooms are separated from the bar and you cannot hear any noise. They have a laundry service and they give it back to you within the same day.

Super unfortunate unique experience, but two of the workers got into a physical altercation during our stay. Almost fought directly into my girlfriend, but luckily she ducked. S$#/ happens but if something like that happens at least buy the people their a round...at MINIMUM. nobody even awknowledged it and nothing was done. Our laundry was also discolored and ruined so that sucked too. Ugh.

I initially thought the bar would be super quiet and reserved given the part of town it’s located in, but I checked in on a Thursday with Xenia and she showed me how welcoming everyone is! I’m sorry I’m so bad with names, but she invited me to join in on trivia night and introduced me to other guests. I didn’t just feel like part of the crowd, I felt like a friend. Wonderful experience and wonderful hostel w good liquor and good people :)

First off, right out of the bat, let me just say this, and what I want to say first is the men, the women, the people, the place 10/10 FULLSTOP. From one Capitan to another, Richard you are nothing short of an inspiration, a violation and the condensation of my hot steamy breath on your cold tile floors. Thank you for facilitating our endless degeneracy, and your endless patience will see you well in eye of God. We will make sure of it. In all seriousness good for you. Clean and friendly place. Super friendly staff. Handy distance from town. Would, wait, scratch that, WILL STAY AGAIN. See you later Richard 😈🫣

(Translated by Google) For that price decent accommodation. Rooms cozy and clean, ideal for students, party people for a several-day stay. The only thing I would criticize was the smoky space at the reception, and the fact that the receptionist did not speak Czech. If I did not speak English, I do not know how to speak. But that's just a little thing. Even so, the staff was very helpful. In addition, the hostel is located near the center, which can be reached in a short walk.

It's a hostel in its purest form. Don't expect high quality beds or new cooking equipment, but expect a great bar, awesome guests, superb atmosphere and all in one of the best neighbourhoods in Prague. I really love this hostel! The times that i was there, there were always nice and interesting people around. Also the crew is very nice. This is not an hostel if you come to prague to enjoy your rest. If you like partying and drinking, this is the hostel where you are looking for.
