‘The Worst Spot’ This hostel is the worst and scummiest that I have ever stayed in. The staff were completely incompetent, and provided no assistance to my friend who had been chased home by a threatening man. As well as security issues, the hostel’s facilities were poor, with lumpy mattresses, no curtains to provide privacy, flimsy door locks and hobs in the kitchen which didn’t work, with a singular fork available. On top of this everything was filthy, and the carpet in our room had not been cleaned in at least a century. The laundry service was daylight robbery - 10€ for a so called ‘complete service’ which included our laundry being washed in a bag, left wet overnight, and having the incorrect items returned to us. The women’s showers and toilets were located on a different floor to the one we were staying on and the ancient lift only stopped in the middle of two floors. Lastly, the hostel was above a very lively street so be prepared to be up until 4am if you stay in this so called ‘best-spot’, good luck to you if you do.

This place is dirty, did not have functional women bathrooms when we arrived, and was next to a very loud bar. The location is good but it’s not worth it. There was construction material in random places. The only working women’s bathroom was next to the reception and the common space but had NO lock and the small stalls are transparent. ANYONE can walk in and enjoy the show. The one staff at the reception was really unhelpful too, he was not aware of the giant “out of order” signs on the showers and just said there is nothing he could do. Also the ratings on hostelworld do NOT match the google reviews and do not reflect the reality. The images on the website also do not reflect reality! RUN FAR AWAY! We ended up not staying the whole time we booked and went to a different hotel.

No air conditioning meant that it was almost impossible to have a good night sleep. The lack of A.C really hampered the stay despite the good location. Also the key seemed to work for other rooms??? What’s the craic with this?

Pros The best spot in the downtown, literally. They are pet friendly if you book private room. Kitchen is okay with essential tools. Cons Budget room is not okay without curtain (street lamps will be a pain in the night) gives me a bit untidy feeling. There's no silence on the street until 3 o'clock. Shower is dirty. It's a bit an "old derelict flat" feeling in the downtown - in comparison to other hostels in the centre. If you came only for enjoying the bars the place will be OK for 2-3 nights. But sleeping is not sure here. Not really recommended.

A great location as close to literally everything as possible, staff were friendly and tried their best with what they had. Unfortunately, the mattresses were thin enough you could feel the wood panels underneath digging into your vertebrae, the showers had nowhere to change except out in the open where people coming into the shower room would make everyone trying to to change flash people on the outside, there aren’t enough power sockets for everyone they try to cram into each room, there’s no ventilation in the rooms so it’s stuffy and dusty, literally everything from peeling tiles and wallpaper is aging and needs to be refreshed in the building, and I could go on but just stay somewhere else and walk extra to each location (it’s good exercise with all the beer you’ll be drinking in Prague).

Great location, only a 2 minute walk from the Old Town Square. Reception was helpful to anything I needed.

First things first: it's very well located in terms of distance to attractions and is very cheap. Leaving that aside, the location is a double-edged sword, since it's basically like trying to sleep inside the club. Also, wifi doesn't work and not every bed has a plug. Actually, the room in which I stayed had more beds (8) than plugs (5). I didn't take advantage of it, but it's fair to say though it seems to have a nice young vibe all around.

DON'T GO THERE. If I could rate a 0/5, I would. Worst beds ever, a foam mattress and sheets that smell like mothballs. Old and dirty. In the middle of the party neigbourhood so super noisy. Not enough showers or bathrooms per floor. Bad wifi. No good value for money.

The best hostel I’ve stayed at on my two month trip! The bathrooms were sparkling clean. Fluffy towels and daily breakfast are provided for free! Perfect location right in the center of where you want to be as a tourist. Couldn’t recommend this place more highly!

As the name suggests the hostel is in the best spot. A 3 min walk to the astronomical clock and Christmas market in December, 10 min walk to Charles Bridge and 3min walk to Wenceslas Square. Rooms were really good, comfy beds. Charging points were minimum (there was an extension cord as well). We had taken an 8 bed room and there were lockers provided. Towels are available for 2 euros, Shampoo and shower gel can be asked in the reception for free. There is a currency exchange right in front of the hostel. The hostel is not for people who want a quiet night as there is a pub next door.

Terrible hostel. Everything is so gross, especially the showers. Power points and reading lights weren’t working for some girls in my room. There was no privacy in the ladies shower and the door wasn’t even lockable on level 4. The shower also just had cold water pouring out for so long, and it’s winter. The shower pressure was also incredibly bad. Some of the staff just looked annoyed when I asked them for help or anything. I also booked for a 4 bed female dorm but instead got an 8 bed female dorm. There was a shower inside my room but no toilet. There was a toilet outside my room but there was only 1 for everyone on that level and majority of the time they didn’t even have toilet paper. The beds are so squeaky, you can’t even move comfortably. Nothing is good about this hostel. I definitely would not recommend, it’s so bad.

Stayed here for three nights in late November. It seemed they were going through a renovation because the entry way was full of torn up carpets and beds… should’ve expected then to find a bed bug crawling out from my pillow that night. Got moved to another room but still anxious. Carpets seemed like the culprtit as they were disgusting. Seems like they were doing something to fix it though… Toilets and showers were decently clean. Kitchen could use some work but it was sufficient for a short stay as a tourist on a budget.

Why was it excellent? Let me tell you. Firstly thanks for providing me a platform to voice my praise for this organisation. Obviously one of the most important aspects of any hotel or hostel is the girth of it's corridors, and let me tell you the boys of KELSO FC were not disappointed. An esteemed member in particular was quoted "wow, these are big." We couldn't agree more connel!! One tiny criticism I would have to give this wonderful place is the lack of opportunity to have a mixed shower. We were unfortunate enough to find ourselves about to host a "group gathering" if you know what I mean. Only to have to send the women back home due to insufficient facilities. However, this only a minor criticism because we made it work after they had gone.

The location is amazing however, the rooms are dirty and the showers hardly work. The positives about this place is that it’s cheap and great location. Go if you are on a tight budget.

  • 2/5 Stef G. 4 years ago on Google
First of all, everything was clean so that was okay. However, the beds were terrible. You can feel the wood of the frame when you lie on the mattress and the frame creaks when you move slightly. The hostel gives away free sound dampening earplugs. They are not a luxury, but a necessity as there is a lot of noise from the streets. Last of all, our window had no curtains to block the sunlight.

I don’t really give comments, but this hostel is notoriously bad… First of all, the ventilation is awful with no AC and fans, so in Summer time you’ll definitely feel like roasted. Secondly, I have no idea why it’s so noisy outside during 2am-4am, but that’s indeed annoying, all of my roommates had a hard time falling asleep. Ah speak of facility, toilets are super small and no place to put your clothes when showering.

This is the best Hostel if you want to party hard. Location is perfect, everything is so close by walking, downstairs there is a irish bar with live music, fair prices. The room and toilets are very clean , nice people for talking, everything is great. 10/10!!!!!

Stayed with a big group, great location indeed. Had the amazing surprise to find bedbugs in our room, manager didn't do anything about it, had to move out to another hostel + no hot water in the middle of november. Never going back to that place

The hostel lives up to its name, it’s true it’s the best spot, I’m talking a 2 minute walk from the main square where the astronomical clock is. It’s true it gets loud at night because there’s a bar two steps away, so be prepared to deal with it. There’s also a mini market next door where you can get some basic stuff such as snacks or drinks, it can be handy because it’s open all night. The staff was great, I got to meet with 3-4 of them and they were all very kind and friendly. One of the front ladies even solved my issue and allowed me to stay the two nights I had originally planned even when there was almost no room or beds available, great job 👏. However, I do have some complains, the showers are not cleaned everyday, I saw some dirt and hairs one day and it was still there next day, you can’t regulate the water temperature so it’s boiling water or nothing, the water pressure wasn’t good either, you need to keep pressing a button at least every 30 seconds for the water to come out, which is good for the environment I guess but not very comfortable. The rooms were also not cleaned every day which made the room smell… funky, to not get into details. All in all, the location IS in fact the best, the staff as well. I also recommend you to book in a website like hostelsworld or something like that because it was 17.10€ /night for one bed in a shared room but I had to book directly in the hostel so they charged me 20€ per night (even saying they were giving me a discount) so yeah, book online if you can. The kitchen was clean as well as the lobby, which has some cool designs and books for you to read. Sadly I didn’t get the offered towel or anything else but the key and the map. I also tried to use the hair dryer but it stopped working after a few seconds.

Uncomfortable beds and dirty showers. The water in the showers wouldn’t drain and they were really smelly. Location is good and bad at the same time as it gets really loud at night. Bring some earplugs! The kitchen was well equipped and quite clean. Overall it was a mediocre experience for a fair price, right in the centre of Prague

Didn't stay here, only check-in for their apartment at another place...

  • 5/5 James H. 1 year ago on Google
Really fantastic value and unbeatable location 2 minutes away from the astronomical clock. But the location also means loud tourists outside until 2am and also the loud bell ringing from the church at 8am. The rooms have creaky floorboards, the toilets/showers are cramped and shared by the entire floor, and beds are not the comfiest. But service is really nice and helpful, even to English speakers.

Good location. Other than that it was horrible. The lights didn't work for 3/4 of our stay, and seemingly none of the staff cared. Dirty carpet. Dirty hostel. Useless elevator, does not stop on any of the floors instead stops midway. Might have been understaffed, only really one receptionist at a time which meant that they couldnt really help. Kitchen table seemed Dirty. Women's shower did not lock. The bathroom was miniscule, larger individuals may not even be able to fit. Men's shower was decent however. Windows did not open properly and were dirty. There was no safe in our room.

So impressed with the staff at this hostel. I was badly spiked while out in the city centre and in a really bad state. I wasn’t even staying at the hostel, but Tony let me and my friends stay on the couch as I was in no state to even get a cab. He was incredible the whole night, gave us sheets and kept checking in to make sure we were all ok, even offered us tea and coffee in the morning. An absolute legend and testament to what seems to be a lovely hostel - would definitely stay for real if I ever find myself back in Prague!

  • 5/5 Luca R. 1 year ago on Google

  • 3/5 Kike T. 1 year ago on Google
great location but not the most comfortable, the view from the room i got was nice and the window was big (good for heat and ventilation) the shower and bathroom however where a little cramped and don’t give to much room to move around, the kitchen was nice but staff would move my food to the freezer when i was planning to cook it in that same hour, the internet was poor but the receptionists were always nice and would give you any bathroom needs there adaptors seem to be from many places since most wont work with the outlets in the hostel it was ok not bad not super good.

Great hostel, kind people at the reception, low pricing, amazing location and just overall a really really great hostel. However don't expect hotel quality but for young people that just want to be in the city centre and have a really affordable pleasurable experience, it is pretty much all you could ask for. The free included breakfast is not great but with an Albert supermarket nearby you can get a good breakfast for well under 200 crowns.

It is a nice place to stay. The location is perfectly amazing as it is at the city centre and there are many things you can do here with a walking distance such as the ferry rides, the walking tours, visiting the castle which is just walking distance by crossing the river. Staff are friendly and approachable. There is kitchen which is accessible and can be used to have tea and snacks and to socialise with other travellers. There are other spaces as well inside the hostel where travelers can interact and socialise. One thing that could be improved is the number of beds in a room and there is no movement space in the rooms.

The Prague Square Hostel is located in the centre of the city. Clubs, bars, souvenirs shops, ATMs are all located nearby. They provide basic amenities like towels, shower gels for free. The rooms are clean with locker facility inside the room equipped with built-in locks. They also have a kitchen on the first floor close to the reception. Common areas are also available on the same floor. The staff is very friendly. This place is cash only and they do not accept cards.

It's my second time in Prague and my second hostel there. Looks like it was renovated not so long ago, so everything applies to high standards and everything is really clean. It's situated perfectly in the middle of the action. If you want something quiet them this is not the right place for you. If you came to take part in the parties and nightlife and so on, this is the place for you! If you come by car, better make a reservation at an underground parking beforehand.

Good points were clean hostel, sufficient toilets, friendly staffs, free cereal and sandwiches for breakfast. Down side would be very noisy every night as it was situated along the Main Street. Every night the party would last till 3am at least. If you are a light sleeper I would strongly suggest against this. Room was a bit tight for 5 bunk beds, no space to open up luggage.

Location is huge. Turn a corner and you're in the city square. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They genuinely want you to have the best possible experience. Specifically helpful with not getting ripped off (eg avoid specific tourist traps, where to exchange money) Room was not stuffy, which is common w hostels.

Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at!! The location was the only good thing. We booked a 4 bed room but got crammed into an 8 bed room - staff were unhelpful with no PowerPoints and lights working in the room. Bathroom and facilities were soooo gross and dirty with no paper towel or anything! There were beds lying around all the corridors and common spaces with tiny gaps to squeeze through to rooms. The staff were so dismissive of us asking about a missing wallet. DO NOT STAY!

  • 1/5 Intza E. 4 months ago on Google • 1 review
Only good point is the location which is really central. Completely backfires though since the hostel is next to a pub which does karaokes till 3am. You won’t be able to sleep as there is close to no soundproofing whatsoever. Don’t expect any kind of privacy: for example the only space in which you can change is INSIDE the shower stall (and even that, it’s behind a barely blurred glass door) and that’s if the light works in the bathroom (it did not during our stay there). If you need to have your electronics charged for any upcoming travel, plan accordingly as there arent enough outlets for everyone in the room. You get to discover all of this on arrival after the reception staff barely says a word and gives you your keys (no explanation on how the hostel works, the facilities or the different rooms). Honestly the lowest point of our trip all over the region. I am sure you’ll be able to book something way nicer for approximately the same price. DON’T GO THERE! RUN!!!
