This is a cool theatre with a retro look straight from the eighties. Nice venues for kids as well with a cosy foie to chill before and after the show. Conveniently located in the center it s a must if you are visiting Prague.

Wonderful opera house.Historically famous building. Notable for excellent opera performances. This week i attended 2 sensational productions....Jenufa and Carmen. Seat prices are heavily subsidized.....so relatively cheap!! Once again I'm in Prague and just attended tge new production of Katya Kavanova FABULOUS Tonight was a really good Carmen 19/11/2022. 11/2/2023..Mind blowing performance of Jenufa. Thus has to be one of the greatest performances of all time. I am here again 10/6/2023 . Terrific performance of a Dvorak opera Armida I love this place.

Amazing piece of history and architecture. Saw the light hearted Czech Opera by Dvořák Čert a Káča. Very enjoyable evening. Open sandwiches chlebíčky at interval were delicious and reasonably priced.

The National Theater in Prague is a renowned cultural hub showcasing operatic masterpieces and dramatic performances within a breathtaking setting. Its historical architecture and refined atmosphere create an immersive environment where each musical note echoes beautifully across the theater. With subtitles available in multiple languages, everyone can enjoy the storyline unfold before them. The National Theater's prime location makes it conveniently situated near various dining establishments, such as Café Slavia, which adds to the overall charm of the experience. For those looking to indulge in a night of classic artistry, this venue promises an unparalleled experience that will leave you yearning for more.

Highly recommend those are thinking of going to book a ticket online NOW! We absolutely enjoyed Carmen here and wish we plan ahead to get Front row tickets. But even with the terrace seats it was great- the best/ highest standard performance you can get for ~15 buck. Thus, can only imagine how much more awesome the experience would have been. During intermission you can go up to the patio on top to have a nice view of the city and the led up building itself. Box office staff was very helpful guide us through pick the best available seat for a last minute ticket purchase. Another thumbs up as the place doesn’t jack up merchandise/ snack/ food price like all US theatre/ stadium alike. 45 cz you can get a beer and 35 you can get an open face cheese sandwich. Uber to and from the place was easy as well.

National theater is very beautiful place. I love the fact that mostly the theater is made out of gold inside. The services as the catering and others are on really high level. The performances in National theater are all great. No matter which play you choose, they are all spectacular. And even though you are not fan of theaters and you don’t like to watch the play, you can always admire the beauty of the architecture and design. That’s why I rate it with 5 stars.

Private club sauna located on the rooftop of national theater and if you want to try out you need to book a reservation online. Price is 300,-kč/90min Maximum number of people is 12. Sauna itself has 90°C and humidity around 15% ( not totally sure with this info) Nice atmosphere, clean but very dark if you go in the evening. Not enough lightning. Big pool with cold water. Water for free but they also have a selection of beverages that you can buy.

Great building, great performance, great staff on the doors as you enter (the theatre staff I found are less pleasant) the interior of the theatre is amazing the stage is extremely professional and the live full orchestra is out of this world. I managed to get the last two tickets on Christmas day (25/12) in the gallery for £12/€15/380ckz which is unbelievably cheap. The whole experience was fantastic. Thank you National Theatre for an all round amazing experience.

The National Theatre is the Czech Republic's representative stage, built with funds from a nationwide collection. It first opened in 1881, and for the second time in 1883 after a devastating fire. The spectacular exterior and interior decoration, richly embellished with gold, consists of masterpieces of 19th century Czech painters, Aleš, Ženišek, Hynais, Myslbek, and others. Visit drama, opera and ballet performances in beautiful hostoric settings and with unforgettable theater experience.

Not bad, don’t take side balcony as the space very narrow for 3 persons in each cabin. Take middle top i guess it’s the best.

This is a great place to see an opera. Tickets aren’t that much, for performance, qualities, high, and the venue is top-notch. The pit band is beyond description, and the architecture of the building is not fit to be described in words. The venue is an overly large, which gives you an intimate connection with the performers. And naturally, the performers are world class. I highly recommend going to see the opera here.

National theatre of Prague cannot be miss, not only for the shows, but for the beauty of the building itself. Make sure to reserve in advance, their website is very practical in this sense and helpful to choose the best option and gives the full panorama of everything going on in the three main theatres of the city.

This old building from 1881 is a gem arquitectónicamente hablando, sobrevivió el communism and today they still use this beautiful place to perform the most important plays and operas in Czech Republic, when I bought the ticket to see Carmen I was little bit skeptical because the location of the sits but it was nothing compared with the great experience I had, even when I was very high I could appreciate everything. One thing to considering is that this old building hasn’t AC so you’ll feel little bit hot but of the play is good you’ll forget about that, one option is bringing a Spanish fan 😇 and voila you will be more comfortable. Don’t forget go up to the terrace I try to get good shooting there.

We wanted to see the inside of the National Theatre (Narodni Divadlo) in Prague. What better way than to buy a cheap ticket and enjoy the performance as well. A cheap ticket costs CZK260 (there were cheaper tickets but you have to sit behind a column). The seats were at the top of the theatre meaning walking up about the equivalent of 7 floors. But the bonus is you get to go out to the roof where you get awesome views and beautiful photos. The theatre is as expected, beautiful. We got to watch "Timeless" - which was 3 performances with about 20 minutes intermissions in between. The whole performance was 2hrs 15mins. The 1st was a ballet called "Serenade". The 2nd was some sort of contemporary dance called "Separate Knots". And the 3rd, and the best, called "Le sacre du printemps" or "The Rife of Spring". The 1st & 3rd are great treasures of ballet tradition, perceived as pillars of dance art. It was very exciting watching the 3rd performance as it was energetic and exhilarating with the dancers pushed to the end of their physical limits. If you have the time, this is a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Two thumbs up!! 👍👍

(Translated by Google) The beautiful historical spaces of the National Theater and the performances themselves somehow correspond to the higher price level of the tickets. During the break of the performance, I recommend visiting the roof terrace, from where there is a phenomenal view of the night scenery of Prague, whether the Lesser Town, the Legion Bridge, Střelecký Island, Újezd, Petřín and especially finally Hradčany. (Original) Krásné historické prostory národního divadla a i samotná představení jaksi korespondují s vyšší cenovou úrovní lístků. Během přestávky představení doporučuji navštěvu střešní terasy, odkud je fenomenální výhled na noční scenérii Prahy, ať už Malou Stranu, most Legií, Střelecký ostrov, Újezd, Petřín a především pak nakonec na Hradčany.

A "national theatre" can't afford to present shows of doubtful quality. For me it was a ballet representation. The building is nicely decorated within. "Théâtre à l'italienne".

I enjoyed this place so very much. I didn’t enter the theater inside which I fully regret because I saw very beautiful pictures after my trip to prague. There is a photo machine where you can get really dramatic pocket pictures (very align with the place). Also, there is an amazing café on the second floor with very fancy stairs and some art places inside: Nona Café (loved this place). Prague was very special and this place definitely was one of the reasons why. Please visit it and please check out the inside as well.

The National Theatre belongs to the most important Czech cultural institutions, with a rich artistic tradition, which helped to preserve and develop the most important features of the nation–the Czech language and a sense for a Czech musical and dramatic way of thinking. Today the National Theatre consists of three artistic ensembles: opera, ballet and drama. They alternate in their performances in the historic building of the National Theatre, in the Theatre of the Estates and in the Kolowrat Theatre. All three artistic ensembles select their repertoire both from classical heritage, and modern authors.

Beautiful old, historic theater on the boarder of old town and New Town in Prague. Seeing an opera on Prague is a necessary experience and the National Theater is likely the best venue for it. The acoustics on the space were great even at the upper balcony and the theater had a subtitle screen that was very visible, making it easy to follow along.

I went to see the ballet version Cinderella here. The building itself is beautiful with noteworthy statues on the roof terrace. Inside, the seats are set at a very steep incline so that even our very high up seats had a perfect view of the stage. I highly recommend coming to see a show here if you can. The ballet tickets were cheap (about €16) and it was a brilliant performance!

Haven't managed to get inside this theatre as much as I wanted to. It's soo lovely from the outside as well. If you are in prague and wish to attend an opera or a concert there, I think it's better to book in advance and plan your trip accordingly. During my short visit, nothing was available sadly.

new yorker here wanting to see a czech play and i’m so grateful they had captions in English. the show was fantastic and delivered!! i sat on the orchestra level but if you rely on captions, I may recommend a higher level, as my neck and eyes were hurting from constantly looking up ;-) as I was only passing through for the weekend I didn’t have fancy clothes so I did feel way under dressed but folks were still nice. Get there early and appreciate the building and enjoy the balcony during intermission! gift shop takes card!

Beautiful venue but ONLY if you find a good seat. They have many balcony seats which have fully obstructed views of the stage. One literally has to lean over the railings from Balcony 2 and 3 seats to see any part of the stage if you are on the sides. Ballet and opera performances are visual arts but some of the seats at this venue are not unusable.
