This is a tourist trap, just avoid it. My visit was like this, you enter and as soon as you are going to buy the tickets, a lady warns you that you'll only be able to see the library from the doors, and not to be disappointed for it. So the fee is 150 czk with an additional 50 czk if you want to take pictures inside. Once you get in, you're presented with a hallway with two doors, where you can see a glimpse of the library, that's all. Even then, the worst part was that workers from the building were just walking around freely and getting into the rooms while us visitors couldn't go through the doors. Just don't go, I didn't go to Klementinum as I don't like guided tours, but if you have to choose between one of the two libraries, the answer is easy.

While the two library halls are indeed gorgeous, the price feels very high for a cursory visit. You are not allowed into the library, you can only look at them from a roped off entrance. What you can see is absolutely beautiful, historically significant and stunning, I just wish you could actually wander around and explore more. There are a few exhibits outside the libraries, but not much information regarding them. Still nice to look at, but for the price I expected more.

do NOT go here. it was a tourist trap and I wish I had seen these reviews beforehand. you have to pay extra for photos, cant even go inside the library room itself, and the workers were so rude. they tell you cant go inside after buying the tickets. you stand there in front a barricade blocked off from the library. don’t go- save your time and money.

If you wanna visit the whole library and walk inside the library you must buy 400 czk which is expensive in comparison with the tickets to other places! (the basic ticket to prague castle is 250 czk) you can buy the 150 czk ticket and visit two parts of the library and not walk inside which was a fair price and you wont miss much.

I bought the family ticket (CK200) and a photo permit (CK50), the two library halls are amazing but I doubt how extensive they had done to make it looks good. If it is a true library, the books will be of all kind -can’t be that neat and tidy. Cosmetic elements were put in at the entire hall to make it stunning in order to attract eyeballs!?

Somewhat disappointing experience. You need to buy a ticket for a certain time. Guide comes in and takes group upstairs, and we have a very limited amount of time to actually see the library from gated door. We weren't allowed to take pictures with flush or in front of the famous library. Guide broke us by groups so each would spend 3 minutes to take pictures and see inside. Then we climbed up a very steep staircase with beautiful views of the surroundings. Overall, it is not worth the price & is highly overrated

Although it is beautiful, I wouldn't call this the most beautiful library I've been to. It was very visible even without crossing the barriers that the least taken care of items in the library are the books. Some were decaying from fungal growth of some sort. Just because you have painted ceilings and nice shelves doesn't in itself make a library beautiful. A library is not a place for books to rot, but they should be kept in the best condition, restored, and open for people to use. If you don't have much time to take the tram up, I'd suggest visiting the National Library of the Czech Republic located right in Old Town. It's more accessible and just as beautiful. If you come as more than one person, pay only one 'license' for photos and share your photos together. You literally only walk down one hall and see two rooms behind a rope. The rest of the artifacts in the corridor belong in a museum, not a library. The staff stand every few metres watching for people sneaking pictures and videos if they don't have a paid sticker on them. I'd be more than happy to pay full integrated price and wipe out the photo/video licenses if it was ensured that the books would be able to be preserved, scanned for future generations, and restored where necessary.

You pay €6/person and when you're buying the tickets they told us we could only see the library from the doorway so the old books stay protected. When we stood at the doorway there was a group of people inside the library, and the worker was telling everyone to walk further and wouldn't let us look at the library. Apparently you can not look at the library when there's a group of people inside, even tho you paid for a ticket. You also have to pay an extra fee if you want to take pictures inside.

Warning! Do not be duped as we were!! Entrance ticket allows you only into an entrance hall to the actual libraries which are roped off from the public. Only people allowed in the actual library rooms have pre booked a guided tour beforehand. Total waste of money and the ticket seller does not make you aware of the restricted entry rules. In addition very rude and unfriendly personnel! Not recommended at all!

The library is really breathtaking, its look like a library from another world, but that’s it there’s not alot to see , the tickets cost around 6€

So many people leave comment but NO ONE mention need to buy ticket first.....the ticket office is just 75m away, the ticket is 150kč, i can't say its worth or not, but it's an elegant place to visit. You CAN'T go in the library, just can take picture from outside.

We are extremely disappointed!!! We arrived at Strahov Library in the morning. Let's start from the beginning- the accept only cash (we were prepared for that, like in many place in Prague it happened before) but they do not have change(I wanted to pay with 1000 koruna banknote) We had to asked random people for help. Finally we got in paying 150kc per person(6 dollars). Inside you can find a few exposition with old books etc. but it is NOT possible to approach the bookstands! You can only look from a distant perspective to see the whole library, that is all. We saw two people 'inside' the library and we went to complain but the lady said that you need online reservation to get there... I checked the Strahov website before our visit and I did not find any information about prior reservation. If you like to take the photos you need to pay EXTRA 50kc(2 dollars). In my opinion it is NOT worth the visit. I really love books and libraries but I could recommend better one and even free of charge in other countries.

Just a small corridor with two open doors to look from the doorpost :( 120 crones the person for an experience of 5 minutes. If you want to make pictures you have to pay 50 crones extra for a sticker. Sharing is caring, pass the sticker to others when you leave :)

You will not be able to enter the two magnificient halls of the monastery library, you can only peek inside from behind a rope. Mind that you have to purchase an extra ticket to be able to take pictures. The halls themselves are of course absolutely fabulous, but truth be told, I would expect being able to go inside (such as is allowed for example in Vienna's Prunksaal of the National Library). Unlike the picture gallery of the monastery, it is super crowded, so expect Mona Lisa level of pushing and shoving for your selfies ;-) PRO TIP 1 - buy the combined ticket with the picture gallery for 200 CZK (that one is well worth it and includes both fabulous gothic paintings as well as the monastery's treasury) PRO TIP 2 - buy the tickets at the picture gallery just behind the corner, you will avoid the huge ticket queue at the library

Not really worth visiting. You're not allowed to acctualy go inside the library. Only look inside through the opened doors. There's extra charge, if you want to take a picture (WTF?!!). The whole tour won't take more than 3 minutes - waiting in line lasts more. I appreciate historic libraries, but you can pass this one.

For those interested in "cabinet of curiosities", the Strahov library is a must. There are only few show-cases but well worth the visit, as you'll see a long-exctint Dodo. The two gorgeous libraries can only be view from afar, which makes the entrance fee a bit steep. For a supplement you can see the actual monastery. As for everything in Prague, it is better to come as early as possible to avoid the crowd.

This was absolutely the highlight of my trip to Prague. If you're visiting, be sure to make time for the Strahov Library. Be sure to request a tour ahead of time as they only allow limited guests. And I highly recommend getting a private tour guide as you get to see some special details in each of the rooms.

A classical library founded in 1179. It is a building full of history. The halls are stunning but you can't enter if you dont purchase the entrance ticket online. So, you'll be outside to gaze upon the beautiful library. The limit on number of people to be in the hall is due to restriction of humidity level. The customer service can be improved.

The treatment by staff is shockingly abusive and discriminating. I am a professor, and I have done research in all the great libraries of the world, including the Wren Library at Cambridge, the Beinecke at Yale, and the Archive of the Indies. Never have I seen a staff show their xenophobia and bigotry like this one. The clerk, an elderly throwback to Iron curtain days was behind a plexiglass. I tried to explain my situation and he kept waving me off and saying no. I was wearing two masks and he was behind glass and he acted as if I was contaminating the sleeve of his sweater and wiped it. His equivalent, a crone that also didn't speak a word of English or German did the same thing and waved me off rudely and then was sweet as pie with a Czech lad who asked her a question. Horrible staff. Not acceptable behavior in 2021.

(Translated by Google) A big disappointment from the absolutely exorbitant price, for which you can only go to the hallway and not to the library as such. You can only look into it. 380 CZK family and 1 student. As written in previous reviews, only a 50m corridor with curiosities and a view of 2 halls. These are beautiful, albeit behind the bulkhead. We were looking forward to it, I remembered how small I was there for a tour and wanted to give my sons this experience. Then no. At least we were there alone. A nice bonus for us, but maybe a thought for the operator - it would be nice to focus on the Czech clientele. Do té můžete pouze nahlédnout. 380 Kč rodina a 1 student.

Very short and expensive exhibition. Although it's very beautiful place. Exhibits are old books and things gathered by library. Few things to have in mind: certain rooms can only be entered if you're in organized tour with guide. Otherwise you can only see them from necked doorstep. Worth seeing but not for this price.

We scheduled a private tour with Ivana 3 months in advance, and the tour itself was wonderful. The building is beautiful, and you really learn a lot! However, the rest of the staff are genuinely terrible. They are very rude and condescending, whether you already have a ticket or not. Just prepare yourself to deal with some incredibly rude people in order to get in the front door.

If you love books, this is a place you cannot miss. Make a reservation, pay the full ticket, get a guide, and enjoy the incredible collection of volumes, the halls and the internal corridor. Dont miss the details. For example the rotating wooden shelves are amazing. Did you know that pigskin binding was popular around 1600, and is easily recognisable because it is white. Calfskin yields a dark brown colour. If you dont love books, get the normal ticket, look at the books from the corridor and dont complain.

Worth of every moment. You can buy ticket for the library at the place but if you want to enter the library you must pre-reserve A visit with a guide which is paid around 20€ per person. Inside of the library you can see two library holes in they are absolutely retake.

You aren't able to walk into the libraries - you have to stand at the door. Not a ton to see, but the rooms were beautiful. There was a special event in one room and there was a harpist playing, which was beautiful. You don't feel comfortable standing and staying very long, because others want to step up and see in too.

(Translated by Google) Rip off!!! Basically a beautiful library, but you basically get nothing to see for 6 €, because you can only go to the front hall. Even there, it costs € 2 extra per person to take a few photos from outside. For the actual library you need a reservation in advance via the homepage, which you can only find out in the shop if requested. This is really different and makes the visit shine in a bad light. So for two people 16 € for almost nothing. (Original) Abzocke!!!

The library, which encompasses two separate halls and the connecting curio gallery is certainly spectacular. Unfortunately, the visit is not: the tickets bought at the door do not entitle one to enter the library halls, so that one is forced to look at them through the doorways from the connecting gallery. While this is better than nothing, the price charged for this privilege is completely exorbitant. Unfortunately, paying way over the value of that one receives is something one quickly learns to expect from tourist attractions in Prague.

Quite a letdown. You have to pay an extra fee to take photos. I paid the photo fee. But THEN I discovered you cannot actually go into the library rooms without pre-booking/paying for a private tour. You can only look in from behind a barrier. There are some interesting things on display in the hallway area, but what you get with your basic ticket was not worth the fee, in my opinion.

(Translated by Google) I am very sorry that I have to give a low grade ... but it is for the service and the organization, not for the tourist site ... The Strahov Library itself is remarkable, it is part of the Strahov Monastery (founded in 1138) and has played the role of a spiritual and cultural center. The price of the ticket for the library is 150 Czech crowns (approximately 6 euros) ... For photos you pay extra .... You will say it's worth it, but for your money you get almost nothing. You look through the enclosures of the two halls where the books are stored (two halls. Philosophical and Theological). Information is missing. This hardly attracts many tourists. And at the beginning of the 17th century there were over 3 thousand books - theological, philosophical. At the end of the Thirty Years' War - in 1648 the library and the monastery were looted by the Swedish troops (19 chests with manuscripts were taken , books and other valuables) .... With good management it can become a favorite to visit, you need to update the service a bit.

TOTAL rip off. The only people giving this place a good review are the ones that pre-booked and managed to get inside the actual library. For the rest of us, 150 CZK per person rewards you with a 5 minute walk through a small dusty hallway with a view of the library rooms from afar. The icing on the cake was the extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Please avoid at all costs.

Interesting place to visit with the family. You could make nice pictures of the library. But visitors can’t really get closer to the bookshelf’s at the price of standard admission. There is also a collection of natural history artifacts on the same floor. It provides some food for the curious minds.

Book a reservation for a private tour BEFOREHAND if you want, and you will def want, to enter the main rooms. Otherwise you will have to stand outside the Halls and crying like I did, because it was my dream to visit this awarded top of the world library, and I had to see it from the outside. All staff members were very polite to us except one lady who, I swear to Cthulu, could whip me if she could. I personally find that the price of 5 euros is worth it.

You cannot enter the actual library and you will have to wait in line to see the rooms through a door, from the distance. You receive an information sheet at the entrance. Was ok, but not exactly a must see in Prague. We considered it expensive for what it had to offer.

(Translated by Google) The library is very nice, but expensive, and you can only see it through the railing among the crowd of other tourists. It's hard to feel the atmosphere of this place then.

(Translated by Google) A really exorbitant price for the mere possibility to look into the library halls via railings. The halls are really beautiful, but this is how I was able to see them in the photo at the box office. In addition, the 30-meter corridor, to which you only have access, is ruled by 4 guard pensioners, for whom the visitor is the main enemy and so they also treat him. I feel really bad about the visit.

(Translated by Google) Like for 150 crowns a tour, which is completed in 2 minutes and the most important rooms are inaccessible and you can just look through the door? It's a pity that I didn't read the drive review, I could save and I'd rather have 2 extra beers in the local brewery ... and still forbidden to take photos, or for a surcharge ... I have a feeling I'm stuck here ... I really don't recommend visiting. And if I read the reviews from foreign tourists, I'm quite ashamed and the operators should do something about it too ...

(Translated by Google) Cheekiness, in contrast to the otherwise warm-hearted Prague. As a mother with three children, wanted to buy the family ticket, 2 adults and 1 to three children. They refused to do that with the hint that the second adult was missing ??? and I have to solve for all individual prices .. (which would of course be more expensive) !!! This is really a mess. It's good that - according to the rest of the reviews here - we saved ourselves that. Sad rip-off, doesn't fit here at all in wonderful Prague .. Hands off! (Was natürlich teurer wäre) !!! Finger weg!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful library, but 150 CZK per person for a 5-minute tour and the two most important rooms can only be viewed from behind the museum barrier 😐 (Original) Piękna biblioteka, jednak 150 koron od osoby za zwiedzanie które trwa 5 minut i dwie najważniejsze sale można oglądać tylko zza muzealnej barierki 😐

To be frank, waste of time and money. 150 for 10 minutes of watching everything behind the glass.

(Translated by Google) A tragedy, 150 crowns for the library less than in the first public library. In addition, you cannot go inside, you only look at the 2 small rooms from the outside. I strongly advise against (Original) Tragedia, 150 koron za biblioteke mniejsza niż w w pierwszej z brzegu bibliotece publicznej. It was great and there was some amazing things to see, however it was very limited and small for the amount of money paid. Both libraries could only be looked at through the doorways. Check out the photos and judge for yourself before spending the money.

(Translated by Google) A spectacular place, mystic, wonderful! I highly recommend spending 20 minutes visiting this wonderful library. Like so many attractions in Prague in order to take pictures ask you an extra 50Corone on the ticket ... but is not required you can also choose not to take pictures. (Original) Un posto spettacolare, mistico, meraviglioso! I was very fortunate to visit this breathtaking library on my trip to Prague last year with Tauck River cruise. I believe it is so beautifully preserved because they are so strict. The tour guide explained why it is important to protect this from human traffic and it is well worth the restriction that have to be enforced, It's part of the education process
