I highly recommend this memorial to anyone who is interested in history. The crypt is a particularly sobering experience, especially for those already familiar with Operation Anthropoid. Be prepared to remove your hat if you are wearing one and speak in a whisper. Nearly all of the signs include English as well as Czech, and there are free pamphlets in both languages. I have also included a few pictures from Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cathedral, directly above the crypt. I would highly recommend seeing the Cathedral as part of your visit to this memorial.

It was a visceral, telling museum and memorial. It should be visited by everyone coming to Prague. Far too few tourists understand what Czechia went through during the war and what it lost.

Sure, the memorial could be a bit more modern and informative in other ways than just long texts on the walls, but it's still an extraordinary place. The admission is free, you can get to know the story well if you're willing to read through it, and visiting the crypt where the parachutists had been hiding and fighting is a special experience.

Some will be surprised some will be shocked however; this museum is a very powerful reminder of mans inhumanity to man, and It was; John Stuart Mill, who said in 1867: “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.” I only hope that if I were called upon to act for right against wrong I would have the strength to do as the Church Elders and Czech underground were called to do. If you care about anything this is a must see stop in Prague. If you don’t know the story you soon will. Free entry and free hand out material, all excuses to visit gone. I’m not saying you will ‘ enjoy’ however you will be forever better informed. And ...:- to the toilets, good clean well maintained

An absolutely fantastic experience. More moving than any of the other big museums we visited. There is a unique story behind this location and it is well told through the displays and they also offer free literature and postcards. You could spend between 20 minutes and 1 hour here. Everything is contained to 2 small rooms so unlike other tourist attractions there is not a lot of walking required to enjoy the exhibit. Thank you to the staff who were very friendly and welcoming during our visit.

Amazing memorial. Filled with history that I have never learned in the USA, was very cool that it is in the site that these soldiers spent their final moments, to top that off it was free, with free information booklets with deeper information. It is always one of my favorite things to learn local history while traveling since that is what you never learn in school.

I knew nothing about what happened to Prague during WW2 except that the allies handed them over to Germany as an appeasement so I guess they knew they were on their own in terms of any resistance. It was educational and very detailed. I spent an hour there happily learning.

Very sombre and solemn place to visit. To actually stand in the crypt of the church where some of the nasty events of WW2 occurred in the old Czechoslovakia was unbelievable. I saw the movie Operation Daybreak many years ago and visiting the church where it all happened in real life and ended the lives of the brave Paratroopers was very touching..

The chance to stand in a place where important historical events took place is never to be underappreciated, so this was a neat attraction. That said, there was not much to see in the memorial, as it's primarily an empty cellar. Still, the entire story was explained in great detail on signs you can read (Czech and English), and it was an interesting story that I had never heard before. It's worth it for sure if you like WWII history, and even if you aren't that into it, it has free entry, so it's worth a look around if nothing else.

We went here on our own, being already familiar with the story of the brave elimination of Heydrich. Seeing the location of the sad ending was powerful. So much history in Prague. BTW do not miss the newly renovated and exquisite Prague Military History Museum! Just reopened in 2022. Both of the places are FREE!!!

A very moving tribute to the 7 men who lost their lives trying to help change the German infiltration. The church was the haven for the men and you can see where they tried to hide them and learn about the disturbing consequences of protecting them. It's a free museum and worth a visit to here something about the history of the area.

A very interesting exhibit outlining the history of the Czech Republic both prior and during World War 2. The site is the final stand for Operation Antropoide, with a monument to the men involved. Amazing to explore cript and read about the operation.

Albeit a small museum, this is worthy comprehending the level of resistance amongst the Checz elite against the oppressor. The display of the effort of members of operation "Anthropoid" highlights the necessity of the actions against the destructive force that was eradicating the Europe of its civility and culture.

A small museum at the site of an important but violent part of Czech history. A small museum entrance to the church basement tells the story of some of Czech resistance who parachuted in to form the resistance during the war. Before being cornered and killed by the Nazis after killing Reinhard Heydrich. Entry is free, please be quiet and close the door. Can spend 30 minutes here with ease.

Informative, small and easy to navigate, free of charge, and super interesting. A must see if you are into WW2. And thought it comes with the territory, it’s not too sad or too depressing like so many ww2 memorials can be.

Visiting from England I was very keen to visit as my family does have a long association with the war. The information and artefacts are very good and give an accurate insight into the event and the reprisals afterwards. A good memorial to some true heroes spoiled by the rudest curator that I’ve ever encountered who felt it appropriate to scream at my son for not closing the door correctly and not responding immediately to his shouting in Czech. Unprofessional and disrespectful to overseas visitors. Spoilt the visit.

Gripping story of a fight for freedom, and the criminal responses of totalistic regime, linking the fate of Lidice and Putten (Netherlands) amd Ouradour-sur-Glane (France). Especially gut wrenching parallel to present day (April 2022) events in Ukraine...

This was a very moving exhibition about the bravery of young Czech parachutists fighting against German occupation, and the assassination of Heydrich, a German SS official. Well done exhibition, free, and an easy quick and worthwhile stop to understand some of the war history of Czech Republic and Prague.

  • 5/5 Dan W. 11 months ago on Google
This felt like hallowed ground. After having read a book and watched a movie about the assassination of Heydrich, seeing the crypt where the parachuters spent their final days and held off the Nazis for an incredibly long time was extremely powerful. The small exhibit in the lobby also had all of the information one needs to appreciate it, so don’t let a lack of previous knowledge about it stop you from going! Can be done and done well in under an hour

(Translated by Google) The place where the last battle took place between seven paratroopers and several hundred times the superiority of the German SS assault unit. The heroic deed of Czechoslovak paratroopers should never be forgotten. Their bravery and heroism were not paramount. They fought to the last shot to make us feel better. I recommend visiting the local crypt, where a person falls into distress, and realizes what sacrifice these heroes had to make on June 18, 1942. Their fight was lost in advance, but they did not give up and fought to the last bullet they had prepared for themselves. Their courage should be a model for today's generation. Honor to their memory and respect to all those who participated in the resistance activities and brought the highest sacrifice. (Original) Místo, kde se odehrál poslední boj mezi sedmi parašutisty a několika set násobnou přesilou německého útočného oddílu SS. Hrdinský čin československých parašutistů by neměl být nikdy zapomenut. Jejich chrabrost a hrdinství nebylo prvoplánové. Bojovali do posledního výstřelu, abychom se my měli lépe.
