Affordable local food in a cafeteria-style setting. Some staff can sometimes be a bit gruff, so just keep that in mind. There were not many vegetarian options available when I was there. I had the potatoes and fried Gouda cheese. It tasted nice with the tartar sauce. One visit was enough for me. Also be prepared for a long line to get in around lunch on weekends. Credit cards are accepted here (as of July 2022).

Fantastic self-service canteen right beside Havelské market and along the main tourist path to the Old Town! I cannot think of a better place to try traditional Czech cuisine that’s not only delicious but also highly affordable. There is a good variety of dishes that rotate regularly depending on the day. Both locals and tourists flock to this restaurant during mealtimes so expect to wait for a bit to get seated. Highly recommended!

AUTHENTIC AFFORDABLE TASTY CZECHIA FOOD!! MUST TRY My wife and I dined here on separate occasions because it was so good - we highly recommend the beef goulash and chicken schnitzel- it was so delicious and moist. The bread dumpling tasted like a Chinese mantou - sweet fluffy and soft. An absolute must try if you are in Prague!

It's a very good place. The restaurant is self-service; upon entry, they give you a card, and you pick up your food at the counter. They write the codes for each food and drinks on the card, and you pay accordingly upon exit. The food is of high quality, and many locals come there to eat. We went there twice and had two meals. The prices are more reasonable than many places, and the food quality is very good. We had schnitzel and potato salad, crispy cheese, and potato with tartar sauce which was amazing. The beer was also very enjoyable. The next day for lunch, we had goulash with meat and mushroom sauce, which was again very delicious. The staff were very kind. The overall price for two people for each meal is around 400 to 500 crowns, and you can pay with the card as well.

The reviews of people saying staff are rude or food being bland are wrong. It’s a canteen style food establishment and it is normal for staff to just take your order and serve it. You’re there to eat not go for a chat. People we spoke to did speak English enough to know what we want. Unless it is normal for me as I grew up with canteen style food all my life. Lady at door gives you a slip, then you give the slip to people in the canteen who write the cost, you eat then leave and give the slip to the lady at the door and you pay. Genuine Czech food, please go and eat there.

Prices were very reasonable with very hearty portions! Authentic place with many locals. Language may be an issue but just simply take a pic of what you like and show it to the staff. Desserts were more of a pass, but mains were really good. Creamed spinach is a must try! Upon entry, everyone will be given a ‘receipt / order sheet’. Each person must take one and dont lose it or else pay a penalty. Then when you order the staff will write on your order sheet. When done - at the exit they will tally up your orders and you can pay by cash and card.

A very nice restaurant where you can get traditional Czech food for a low price. They have an English menu and all the staff can communicate in English so there is no problem for tourists. All the best sellers are in the picture so you can easily order them even if you do not know what they are called. The staff are very nice and helpful as well. Highly recommended!

This is a gem of traditional Czech cuisine. This is a place where you can find classic Czech dishes of various kinds at low prices. The restaurant is not very comfortable or modern, but very popular and you know exactly what you will get. You won't find many like them anymore, and its advantage is a great location in the middle of the city. Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to try local Czech cuisine. Affordable prices, very friendly service and a super spacious place. It is very close to the market so you can easily find it. We have visited restaurant several times and as soon as we go to Prague we will definitely eat here again.

The food is delicious and cheap, cooked to perfection. I ordered two dishes and both of them were enjoyable. The house beer is quite good and cheap to boot, some of the best I’ve had in Prague. The service was not friendly but it was also not unfriendly. The interior is a bit dated but clean and comfortable, this restaurant provides excellent, authentic, Czech cuisine at a very fair price. Would recommend to anyone coming to Prague to give it a try, it’s well worth it.

Delicious Czech food, so well cooked, I ate beef goulash with damplings and was perfect!! Me and my husband ate a dish with a coke and everything was just around £12, one of the cheapest and tasty restaurant in Prague, fully recommended

When we arrived at the restaurant, there was a bit of a queue, but the service was so fast that it really went by in a flash, so don't be scared! I'd say it almost reminds me of a canteen, but a Czech one. 😂 The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and the food, being the first time I've tried Czech cuisine, seemed very good! All the dishes we tried were very yummy, and the special (the orange one in the photo) was definitely the most tasty! At the end we ordered dessert, and we liked the little cubes with cream of something that looked like vanilla much better than the blueberry dessert. It is also important to say it was very affordable!

Lovely home cooked food feel with quick service and great beer. The cafeteria style ordering is fun and gives you an insane variety of options. I first got the fried cheese with mashed potatoes and on the second occasion the dill sauce dumplings with boiled eggs - yes, there are vegetarian options! Both were really tasty and incredibly filling. Highly recommend this place, it feels like you're being cared for by a Czech grandma.

A charming establishment, resembling a cozy canteen rather than a traditional restaurant, offers an extensive array of traditional dishes. Despite its casual ambiance, the diverse menu rivals that of a high-end restaurant. Noteworthy is the Beef Goulash with Boiled Potatoes, priced at Czech Koruna 169 (Euro 6.90), providing excellent value for money. This venue draws a diverse clientele, including locals, tourists, and artistic types.

We really enjoyed Havelska Koruna both times we went. Its a simple self service spot with affordable prices and very tasty, hearty food. We tried the goulash, mushroom beef, vanilla cream cakes and a dessert that I can't remember the name, but generally they were all great. If you want to eat like a local, its a definite must.

Cheap cafeteria style food, very wide selection and great prices and portions. Gets crowded quickly so do go early. Great morovian sparrow and stuffed potato dumplings

It's cheap, it's good, it's old, it's traditional. We went there twice in two days to have lunch. Traditional goulash was best, other items were also great. If I again visit Prague, I will definitely have lunch or dinner there again.

The food is very good and the prices are very good. You can have a complete meal for vet few CZK (they accept card). Make sure to think in advance what you want to order, people working there don’t have good english speaking skills, but are nice nonetheless. There are many traditional dishes to choose from, so it is a must if you visit Prague.

If you don’t want to spend a fortune on the local cuisine, try self-service canteen with reasonable pricing for it. A bit variety of dishes, including the traditional ones. However, not all the staff was friendly, few ladies were quite grumpy and rude. Staff doesn’t speak English, so it was a little struggle at first. However, the lady at the reception was the sweetest one :)

The best food in the town. Hidden, but in the very centre of the city. I really recommend you to visit this place if you wanna eat tasty food, cooked as at home . So tasty, so cheap. For gulyash and soup in common I paid 9€ , which is nothing compare to other food. So delicious and so many options what to eat . 6 out of 5. Best I’ve tried in Prague

Affordable prices, great restaurant to try local Czech cuisine. It is usually super full so it might be difficult to find a table to sit. We have visited restaurant several times during our trip. We really liked the food, beer and environment. I’d definitely recommend it.

The restaurant was near our hotel, so convenient for us. A cafeteria style of restaurant. At first it was a little confusing as we were handed a slip of paper upon entering. Thinking we had to write our choices prior to ordering. We were wrong, they recorded your choices at the counter. When leaving you are to present your ticket to pay. The food was adequate for the situation. We could have made a better choice on the soup. Overall okay.

I was delighted to find this restaurant during my visit to Prague. I really wanted to try typical Czech food without spending in a fine and expensive restaurant. The restaurant looks like an old tavern, which is very striking. The food tastes good (in relation to the price). The reason I give it a low rating is because the employees are grumpy, rude and don't try to communicate in English.

Awesome place to go when in the old town and trying to escape the expensive tourist traps. Food is good, straight forward and fast. Prices are very good especially for this part of town, and you get to try true Czech food as the locals like it.

Cheap and cheerful. Is it the best food I've ever had? No. But it is very reasonably priced and gives an authentic taste of Czech food. The atmosphere is very much basic canteen and everything is no-frills. I enjoyed some dishes more than others, the fried Gouda being a particular highlight, but they were all roughly around 150CZK. Desserts are also available as are some side items. We visited twice during our visit to Prague, mostly to keep the costs of our trip down.

Good quality of food. Czech cuisine. Self service / cafeteria style. Large selection of meals. Affordable prices. Located in the Old Town, in the very center. For lunch you need to come at around 11 am to avoid queues. A few veggie options such as fried cauliflower or fried cheese and potato puree or boiled potatoes, potato dumplings with spinach, dumplings with dill sauce and boiled eggs, pasta with tomato sauce etc. Nothing for vegans.

This is a nice cafeteria-style restaurant. The food is good and the value for money is probably one of the best you can find around in Prague’s city center. Don’t get discouraged because the long line (even if you have to start queuing outside the restaurant), it moves quite fast. You can use the time to decide what of the many options you want to eat. The plates you see in the display are just common combinations. You can mix and match whatever you see there to fit it to your taste.

Went near closing time which was 8pm, in hopes of having goulash with dumplings. Was so pleased to manage to get some and it didn’t disappoint! Authentic, cheap and self-service Czech food. Would recommend the experience

Nice restaurant to visit. It's kinda like a canteen. Typical Czech dishes. Taste good, nothing vey great. It's also very cheap. In rush hour it will take some time to get the food. Card payment available (in Czech koruna). Worth one time visit

Had this place for delivery, and it did not disappoint. Even the way that it was delivered was excellent (in containers with plastic film). No issues with leaking! Everything was delicious. Would recommend for traditional/local Czech cuisine that is simple.

Great location, prices, offer and quality of cuisine. They prepare all kinds of traditional Czech meals from soups, to sweet and salty main dishes. This retro restaurant might even look exotic to younger people. It was a nice experience.

Many different dishes of local food. When you enter you receive a blank ticket, you choose the food you want to eat and it's served at the moment (self-service). When you finish you show your ticket at the exit and pay. Cheaper than the other restaurants of the city.

We found this little gem because I watched the “Honest Guide” on YouTube. This Bistro is a traditional Czech restaurant which a fast self service. The offer a big variety of different main dishes, soups and desserts. We went for the Svickova (169) and the Szegediner Gulasch (159) with Dumplings. Both meals were very good and delicious. The restaurant has a separate entrance and a exit. When you get in, you will get a piece of paper, which is something like your order card. You go to the counter and order your meal and then you need to give them the paper. When you finished everything, then you can go straight to the exit for the payment, while you present your sheet of paper. Definitely a place to be for good traditional Czech food.

Some fantastic traditional home-cooking. Everything here comes about to about $8.50 USD. Many people come in confused about how to order though which can frustrate the workers (Understandably so when it’s busy). Take an order slip when you walk in, hand your slip to the worker holding a pen and let them know what you want (each of the orders have numbers to avoid translation issues. Also note that food and drink orders are taken by separate workers), then finally hand your slip to the cashier on the way out to pay. Very efficient and cheap just a little confusing at first.
