We came here with a group of friends to experience some local Czech good during a weekend visit in Prague. In the menuyou can also find international food (e.g. grilled meat or burgers). This was our first spot when we arrived in Prague. It was highly recommended by our shuttle driver and he was right!!! We sampled some of Prague’s best fried cuisine & tank free beer at Kovlovna U Paukerta! First up, we had homemade chips with two delicious homemade sauces- Mayo & a tangy barbecue sauce. Then Fried Garlic Bread with meat mix, fried onions & beer cheese spread. It reminded of a fancy Sloppy Joe- YUMMY! Lastly, Fried Gouda in corn flakes crumbs with homemade tarter sauce & boiled potatoes- delicious!!!

Quite a popular place and understandably so! Delicious Svičková and fantastic meat options - duck leg and pork steak, especially. Quick service, even during the busiest hours.

We decided to go for dinner and wanted to try some Czech cuisine, Kozlovna U Paukerta was 2 doors from our hostel, so we checked the menu and reviews and my god we were not disappointed. I had some garlic bread with beer cheese sauce and bolognaise with a large local beer for my starter. The garlic bread was crisped to perfection and the bolognaise and cheese sauce where scrumptious! I then had the traditional Czech steak. The steak literally melted in my mouth the dumplings where perfect and the sauce was the best steak sauce I’ve ever had. The food was so filling as well for such a good price. What took the restaurant over the top was the service from the staff, in particular a waiter called Martin, he was welcoming, kind, accommodating and a complete character. I’m a very clumsy person and dropped some dumpling back on my plate which splashed the sauce on a new white shirt I bought travelling with me, other restaurants I’ve been to while travelling did not do this, Martin helped me out straight away and got me a new cloth and a bowl of soapy water to stop my shirt from being ruined, I think me and my friends maybe back for dinner tomorrow! I highly recommend trying this restaurant if you are ever in Prague! Thanks for reading.
