Finally a proper bar! Its a semi-family establishment with kids play area, they have English speaking staff, and the food is ridiculously cheap for the quality you get. Beer is amazing, they have imported brandy etc. Bathrooms are spotless and energy saving with modern comforts. Artwork portrayed is unique and beautiful, background music is classic upbeat. They have amazing home made pies as well. Owners are people's people, very friendly and accomodating. Apparently recently renovated with a modern-victorian atmosphere. Big screen TV's in comfortable locations. Seating is soft and comfortable. I might turn into a regular...

It was a long-waited reopening after one year! So glad I chose the Down Under for me & daughter's birthday! Awesome hospitality by the staff. The pie & gravy was delicious. We really had fun with the karaoke (thanks for setting it up for us). My 3yo kid enjoyed the playroom as usual. The night couldn't have been better. :))))))) Thank you our little anglophone sanctuary 😂

Went for dinner with our children thinking it would be nice. The other children in the play area were screaming and crying, it was incredibly loud my kids wouldn’t go in. The food took some time there only seemed to be two people working. I had the worst fish and chips in my life, it was thin and overcooked, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t cod. I will not go back.

An Australian friend recommended this place. Good atmosphere, Australian sports playing on multiple screens, fast service. However the main reason why I came was a Kangaroo burger! Burger from an actual kangaroo (I highly doubt you can have this anywhere else in Czechia) you just have to try it. I loved it. Their sauces are also delicious and so are the fries. I’ll be coming back for sure.

Good address with friendly staff who has admirable memory. I didn't like the deckration/ atmosphere there. Also the fact that you need to walk further to get to the toilets is kindda weird. But the worst part is the terrible fried food smell while going downstairs on your way to the bar. We enjoyed our pubquizz there fully anyway.

Went to grab late drinks with my colleagues. The place was completely empty and while that surely meant we had the waiter’s undivided attention to refill the drinks, it made the ambiance a bit awkward. It was more of a big conference hall and less of a pub. Two of my colleagues hated their drinks (Bloody Mary and Old Fashioned), the tequila shots tasted like engine bleach, and the dark beer smelled like rotten eggs. The waiter was kind and the chairs are comfy, but I would definitely skip this place seeing as there are MANY pubs in the area.

Easy reservation, great communication and good food. Situated on the bottom floor of a theatre. Nice comfortable chill out restaurant with a mix of old and new, live tv and option for kids birthday parties. It can be a bit cold, so make sure to have a jumper or coat. 🕓Open 4pm weekdays til late 🕚Open 11am Saturday & Sunday til late. 🍳 Serve breakfast on weekends. 📺 4 TV screens to watch live sports. 🛝 Small soft play children's area. 💁🏻‍♂️ Helpful, Friendly & Accommodating Staff. 🍽️ Good food. Amazing Pies with real mashed potatoes. 🍻 Good beer selection 🍹 Small cocktail selection.

The one true Aussie pub and sports bar and children’s bar. Love this place. They host quizzes on Thursday’s. They have a pie. They have nice beer on tap. And a children’s pay area. So the complete deal. If you request for a specific game to be played on the reply, they’ll do it for ya.

A very very underrated Aussie pub! Great food with relatively cheap prices. Hot staff, the Aussie guy with reddish hair was super kind. The Malva cake is a must try! Veggie and kids friendly. ALSO, they have quiz nights every Thursday <3

Great Australian pub in Prague! Very warm towards a couple of kiwis looking for a familiar place to watch some rugby during the World Cup. So many familiar foods and accents. Great place for rugby, a beer or just a nice yarn. Thanks as well to the great friendly staff working there!

Delicious beef & pork pie with the gravy and chips combo. My friend had fish & chips with freshly made tartar sauce and mushy peas, which she loved. We finished off with a tasty fruit pavlova tart. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended

2-Dec - I asked them to pack 4 Malva cakes to go with ice-cream. I was told that there was probably not enough cake but then the server said she would go and check. Only after reaching home I realized that they had given a considerably smaller portion rounded side piece of the cake and charged me full for it. I wanted more cake :( Plus they charged me 40kc for packing it in 2 boxes, that's stealing!

Tasty food, good coffee, drinks and very friendly staff. This place is very child friendly - they have very big play corner for kids with lots of toys, changing table and baby chair. I simply love this place and can recommend it to everyone.

Got really hyped for watching the finals of Champions League here. Everything seemed normal at first until the first food arrived. The kanga burger had maybe a tea spoon of meat in it. After ordering an extra portion of fries we were told the kitchen was basically empty and no food was available. People at the next table brought in take-away pizzas, some other guy ordered Wolt delivery. I consider this bad preparation considering the game barely just started and the pub was full. We were also told that beer glasses are in short supply and we should drink faster to enable other people to get served, which was rather amusing. Soon, the Pilsner kept coming at 0.4 L instead of 0.5 L and we seriously thought even beer will run out here. Albeit the chairs were comfy and the servers polite, this was definitely one of the worst pub experiences in Prague. Saddly cannot recommend.

Great pub. I liked the nice dishes for a fair price and large choice. TVs everywhere to enjoy the matches. The staff was kind. Confortable seats. Even a dedicated place for kids. However I'm not found of the room deco and ambiance (tiles on the floor, lights, lack of accessories... ), moreover it's becoming quicly noisy in the room.

My brother and his five kids were in town, and we ended up taking them here twice. The kids loved the kids corner, and it allowed the adults to enjoy a pint and pie without the stress of a gaggle of loud children. Service was also great, and the pies are *chef’s kiss*. Just all around a great spot!

The table service is really slow. Drinks are cheap for being so close to the center. The atmosphere is boring and lacks character. I think it's more focus to families with kids. If that's your situation this could be the place for you.

This was our second visit to The Down Under, as we had a pretty negative experience a few months ago but wanted to give them a second chance. Although I think the restaurant definitely has a lot of potential, the food was so underwhelming that I don't think we will be back. My schnitzel was so overcooked that I could barely cut it with the knife provided. The pie tower was pretty tasteless, and was missing the peas that should have come with it. Additionally, the food arrived lukewarm at best, which is impressive considering it was overcooked. Maybe this place is great to come for snacks and drinks, but I wouldn't come here if you're looking for a good meal.

I never experienced such friendly, nice and welcoming staff like in The Down Under. I needed a last minute venue for my birthday celebration and they made literally everything possible to make it an amazing experience, before and also during the event, including special wishes and requirements. Huge thank you!!! I totally recommend this place. :-)

I return to update my review of the Down-Under Bar in Vinohrady, Prague, having taken up the offer of a free pie. And I am impressed, the latest pie was far less salty. It walked with grace the line between brutally salty and not really too salty at all. The pastry itself much more closely resembled pastry than insulation, by a comfortable margin, and was indeed tasty. I would like to thank the team at Down Under for offering, and then providing, me with a free replacement pie, it was appreciated and enjoyed. All that follows is the original review, for reference. (I recently finished consuming the saltiest pie I have ever eaten. I would describe it as something heated, from frozen, out of a box, but the texture of the 'pastry' was so like cardboard one is left with the impression that one has actually consumed the box. Gristly, chewy, meat sitting in a salty glutinous matter, accompanied by the odd tired and confused carrot slice, all packaged in a thin yet resilient dough. None of your buttery flaky pastry here I'm afraid; pure sheet-rock. And my throat is still burning from the salt. I drowned it all in ketchup and beer, and the back of my throat still feels like I drank a pint of sea-water. And the price!? I walked away feeling like I had been fleeced. I could get a superior, delicious, pie on every second street corner in Auckland for a third of the price of that offensive block of stodge; Literally a third.)

Nice personal and approach, always trying to find a way to untertain you :-) But the most: nice beer, including from small brewery Raven, where dads can take their kids and watch nice favorites sport game while the kid will safely play in the kids corner next to it. Nice concept where everyone can find its benefit.

Have been to this pub a few times now and have really enjoyed it each time. There is a great atmosphere when there are sporting events being shown. The Wimbledon/cricket world cup finals day was brilliant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely fantastic with some classic Aussie meals on offer including a kangaroo sandwich that is definitely worth a try. This place also has a kids corner so they can keep themselves entertained while parents enjoy a meal and some drinks.

This place became my favorite in Prague. Food is great, drinks are great, service is outstanding, waitresses and owner are both fantastic, and last but not least a perfect inside playground for babies, toddlers and kids. Love it!!

  • 3/5 Daniel N. 4 years ago on Google
Food is very tasty, service is very nice, and the space is great (awesome for kids!), but a few complaints. First, they took FOREVER to bring out our order, with no explanation. The place was mostly empty so they shouldn't have been overwhelmed. Second, they got my wife's order wrong (she ordered the chicken & mushroom pie and they gave her chicken curry, which she doesn't like). Third, I ordered the kangaroo steak and they didn't have it, but offered kangaroo strips (used in a sandwich) prepared the same way. I agreed and it was great but they charged me for the sandwich, which is more expensive, so basically they didn't give me what I wanted and charged me more for it. Definitely on the fence about going back--at least the food is good enough that hopefully it won't matter if they take too long with it or mess up the order.

(Translated by Google) Very nice business, we were over satisfied! :) nice environment, nice staff, super children's corner. We had a great meal and the coffee was great too! A small complaint just behind the changing table in the hallway, in the winter months is not very practical, and in the corner would be nice some stuffed toy or doll to be in the stroller 😉 (Original) Velmi příjemný podnik, byli jsme nad míru spokojeni!

This place is an amazing Gastropub with an Aussie Sports bar twist. The food is incredible, tasty and fresh. The range of food includes Pies, Fish and Chips, Chicken Parmesan , and one of the best Burgers I have ever had. Ashley and all of his staff are always happy, bubbly, smiling, warm/welcoming, and have impeccable top notch service/recommendations. I would recommend this place to sports fans, families, private parties, and other parties. In addition to it’s super family friendly feel, they have many TVs displaying games from Rugby, Football, American Football, and more. This is a must stop location in Prague.
