🔝 collection of European impressionist, Czech painters. Highly recommended. There is also a nice social zone and open space for creative people.

Amazing museum. It’s so much bigger than I expected, currently three huge floors filled with art. I was impressed that it covered everything thing from 1800 to today and all the movements. All major artists are shown (to some extent). Ticket price is very reasonable and facilities are good. Highly recommend, and will take several hours to cover properly.

Favorite place for visit. I always come here in my free time, because along with long term exhibitions, I find new projects too. The environment is adapted and the museum is in solidarity with Ukraine.

Don’t be fooled by the rather dull exterior of this building! Inside is a world of fascinating, beautiful and thought provoking art. I opted to go in to see the permanent exhibition on a whim and was very glad that I did! As well as a fine collection of pieces from very famous artists, there was a wide range of works by Czech artists and others. The art was arranged by topic which allowed for easy comparisons. There were plenty of curators around if you felt like asking questions, but there were also plaques with information in Czech and English so it is easy to navigate by yourself if you prefer. If you’re even slightly interested in art, I’d highly recommend a visit!

Beautiful big gallery with famous paintings from Picasso, Monet and others. Descriptions in Czech and English. Nice and big cafe near the entrance. Nice and friendly staff. You can leave your things in the locker (cloak room). You need at least 3 hours to see the whole gallery and visit all floors.

The permanent exhibitions which included works by Czech artists and masters Renoir, Van Gogh, Klimt and Klee are well worth the price of the ticket. However the new collection Smoke Rings is a smoke out…despite the promise of the exhibition’s theme using smoke as a motif to show how artists imparts shape and form to the non- material, the exhibition is let down by the layout looks more like a funeral parlour and the dim lights do injustice to the art.

I thorough enjoyed my time here. The collections are vibrant and eclectic and the layout made for an interesting experience. I particularly enjoyed how quiet it was, relatively speaking, and the opportunity to view work by Van Gogh and Picasso without the crowds. And I discovered lots of new artists too. Toyen’s work is well worth a visit. If you enjoy art galleries then you won’t be disappointed. Plus- it’s good value for money. I always buy prints/postcards and the price point was great.

One of my favorite museum in Prague. Contemporary art from end of 19 and 20th century. The building is Amazing, beautiful, a lot of space. Hudge. And the collection is very rich. A lot of czech artists but also masterpiece from Picasso, Klimt, Vangogh...and much more. You have frequently temporary exhibitions on top of the collection. My favorite sofar was Giacometti. Restaurant and shop (books ,goodies). Very convinient for people with difficulties to walk, with the elevators. Extremly easy to go here with the tramway, stop in front of the building.

Wonderful collection of impressionist, post impressionist and beyond. Possibly the best collection of Piccaso's outside of the Picasso museums. There's a huge body of paintings from Czech painters that are superb. The paintings just go on, I was amazed at the volume of paintings from these groups. We were there for over 2 hours and had only skimmed most of the paintings. Highly recommended.

Large building, not too attractive as it is communist architecture. The art inside is very valuable, we enjoyed Klimt, Picasso, Kokoscha plus a temporary Pikarov exhibition.

I love this Gallery ! There were more artworks here than I thought. In particular, painting is divided by style, and the amount is vast. If you like painting, I recommend you to take plenty of time.

The original Van Gogh painting is located here on the 3rd floor. The admission is free for people under 26 which is great. We have been to 3rd and 4th floors and really liked some of the works there. There were many paintings by local painters that were as beautiful as the well-known ones. Also you can find original paintings of Monet, Klimt, picasso, Caspar David Friedrich, Ilja Repin and others here. Definitely recommended.

Great exhibitions. The ones which are always on display is the art from the time of the first republic 1918 -1938, other floor is dedicated to 19th century painters, amongst which you can find Picasso or Monet. However the building itself is a piece of art, specifically functionalistic architecture art. Totally recommend the visit!

Incredibly divers and expansive Exhibition of Czech Artists and their works during the era of the 1st republic (1918-1938) well curated and aligned with some of their international inspirations (Monet, Matisse, Renoir Van Gogh, Gauguin, Picasso, Braque)

One of the best art museums I visited lately. Many interesting exhibitions with emphasis on Czech art and huge collection of French art of XIX and XX century.

It was hard choosing just a few pics. The place is somewhat far from the old city but easy to reach by bus. On October 28 It is free of charge. It features an incredible amount of stunning works of arts, mainly paintings, from the beginning of 1800 to 1940 c.ca. Klee, Klimt, Picasso, Braque, Van Gogh, Matisse, Rousseau to start with, and several local artists. The beauty (and quantity...) is almost overwhelming. There are also a small collection of art from Asia and an Architecture section. Cafeteria at ground floor (non tested, too crowdy). The building is neat, white, spacious and you can truly enjoy your visit.

One of the most impressive collections I've ever seen. The Met in New York should take notice. I especially appreciate that they principally stuck to the art of Czech Republic

Art gallery in modern building. Important permanent collection of 19th and 20th century art including works by Picasso, Gauguin, Monet, Rodin etc and many Czech artists. If you really look at everything the visit takes 3+ hours. Not many people given how big the place is. There’s no waiting, just buy your ticket at the entrance. Recommend for any art lover.

Impressive collection of famous painters over the period 1797-1918 especially a lot of French (Picasso, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Cézanne & more) but also Munch, Schiele, Klimt and of course Mucha, as a permanent exhibition on 4th floor. Minor paintings for most of them but all of interest. The museum is huge and the minimum time on that floor is one hour but other (less) interesting or local exhibitions are displayed on 3rd and 2nd floors. Overall a very nice surprise and opportunity to revise your painting knowledge.

A very wide variety of art architecture and sculptures from different cultures. Free entry for kids. Don’t bring small kids though, it might be a bit boring to them. If you want to get access to the temporary exhibition, say that CLEARLY, else they might sell you the wrong ticket.

I really enjoyed how the art pieces were grouped together. It was interesting and different. They have a big collection and I loved learning more about Czech artists. When we first got there there was a lot of noise because of prep work for an event which was distracting and hard to ignore.

Remarkable museum of modern art in a place with astonishing architecture. It contains very fine collections of Czech, French, American, Austrian, Dutch, English, German and Spanish works among others. Excellent works by Bohumil Kafka, František Kupka, Schiele, Bourdelle, Rodin, Picasso, Monet, Cézanne, Klimt, Pissarro, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Moore, Steinberg... Also, a pose is essential at the Café on the ground floor of the building where you can taste good dishes, or even just have a tea or coffee.

a beautiful, spacious building with a lot of exhibitions. as permanent exhibitions - everything was fine. but we also paid 170 CZK for visiting the photography festival floor. however, there were no photographs, there were cardboard walls with video recordings. If you are a fan of something like this, this is the place for you. We really regretted that we didn’t look at the reviews in advance.

Trade Fair Palace is one of the 6 National Galleries in Prague. Trade Fair Palace has the largest exhibition of modern art in the Czech Republic I visited the Flower Union Exhibition. It is worth a visit. It is a colourful and interesting exhibition where you can enjoy an alternative and stylish interior design for an office environment. The exhibition focus on sustainability and environmental care using recycling materials to increase the environmental awareness. It is located in Holešovice district close to Stromovka Park. Quite accesible by public transport.

The expositions of the gallery are magnificent BUT the staff and the organising of the gallery are below 0. Only in the reception are speaking English and even there, they didn't inform us for the time schedule, especially by the time we visited the gallery on 31st of December. The result was to not have the time to visit the last floor. There are no signs in order to be informed how to navigate inside the gallery, the staff in each room doesn't speak English at all, and most of them had a very rude way. So in conclusion, it's worth to visit it, but try to get all the information since the beginning and to have a lot of patience.

Beautiful functionalist building. At the 1st floor there is kids' corner - they can draw on the wall, play drums, building bricks etc. Unfortunatelly the building is the best to view. The exhibitions are not that great.

Very nice permanent exhibition, and the "Smoking painters" exhibition was a fun zoom-in. The airconditioning units inside the gallery are very noisy, not painfully loud but distracting. I hope they can fix a better climate control solution some day

Fantastic collection of modern art. Thanks to several art lovers of the first part of 20th century, the National Gallery have top paintings from Picasso, Braque, Rousseau and others, as well as great Czech painters such as Špála, Mucha, Kubišta. In addition, the building is a masterpiece of the functionalist architecture. I highly recommend the visit.

I’ve been here 4-5 times and I keep coming back! It’s one of those places that make me proud to be living here! In a city that has experienced so much. The way the place (first czechoslovak republic art) is divided is super smart. However, I really need more explanations about every piece of art please. I keep googling paintings to know more!

  • 5/5 Mariam K. 1 year ago on Google
Make sure to visit the gallery as you'll see some of the great artworks of French, German, Czech and other painters.

  • 5/5 Massimo B. 1 year ago on Google
Great museum with many paintings from more (Picasso, Gauguin, Cézanne) and less (local artists which have awesome creations too) famous artists. Perfect if you have already visited all the city centre and you would like to spend some hours in a quiet place which will guide you through the history of art in Czechoslovakia between XVIII and XX centuries. The standard ticket will grant you access to the permanent exhibition at the 3rd and 4th floors. (The building is a bit ugly outside due to the architectural style, but don't hesitate and enter).

Love it. You can take your children. They will be fascinated by the animals, precious stones and more

  • 4/5 Dominik B. 2 years ago on Google
The building is pretty empty, only approximately half of its space is filled with gallery exhibition. There are nice paintings by famous artists and also in my opinion best exhibition of the gallery which is Post-Digital Intimacy. There is a great gift shop with pretty good deals in on-sale department which is on the 2nd floor of the shop.

I visited this museum back in September and I was very impressed with both exhibitions I saw. Their exhibition about art within Czechoslovakia was particularly well curated and interesting. I also appreciated the amount of wall text in English and all the very clear, skillful translations.
