the hostel is very clean, the beds are comfortable, each room has its own bathroom and in addition there are 2 bathrooms shared by all. The staff is very friendly and doesn't force you to drink or participate in activities. Every day there is a "family dinner" (the staff cooks and it costs about 4 €) and the staff organizes outings in the clubs (pubs, bars, disco pubs, etc.). Remember to bring earplugs with you... some guests can snore loudly. Every tourist attraction is within easy walking distance (or by tram-trolley if you don't feel like walking). There is a grocery store very close to the hostel. I really enjoyed my stay in the mad house.

BEST HOSTEL IN ALL OF EUROPE. If you are looking for a clean, quiet hostel, look elsewhere. This hostel is for ADVENTURES and PARTY. The staff are absolutely amazing, they like to include everyone, there are dinners every night to meet people and then every night something new to do. The location is excellent, 10 min away from the train station, and 10 min walk to the city center. Its nearby restaurants, a supermarket, etc. Stay here you will not regret it. Shoutout to Kraig for being such a great and fun owner.

The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. They are sometimes cooking dinner and the food is delicious, you can have coffee for free, also you can buy beers kept in the fridge for a low price. I stayed there for 5 nights and it was a hell of a adventure. They are organising parties every night in different pubs/clubs, and if you stay one week there you can discover a lot of nice places from Prague. The place is perfect, I will definitely come back sometimes!

What a great place, not only is there cool travelers to meet, but the staff will hook you up for places to party and go with you!! Shout out to the brit who banged 2 girls from this place in 2 nights and had the decency to do so in an airbnb. Maybe next time leave some for us mortals ;) ☆☆☆☆☆

Great location, really excellent staff (shout-out to Heather K) and a true hostel experience. Tons of events everyday and the hostel community is great. Would recommend for open-minded solo travellers looking for groups to explore Prague with.

Can I just say…..the workers here are Angels among humans. Truly the best. No matter what happens (aka drinking too much) they’ll be there for you like the wonderful people they are. <3

I stayed at this hostel on my Europe trip in November of last year, it was the first hostel that the staff/volunteers fully integrated themselves into the social life of the hostel. The family dinners and drinking games are very intimate and create a great environment and atmosphere for solo travellers to meet one another. Upon arrival I was made to feel at home by the manager/receptionist Danny and throughout my stay I met some of the best people I’ve ever met travelling. The rooms are unique and spacious with clean, reliable and private bathrooms. This is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in around the whole of Europe, for anyone who wants a bit of madness, a proper social experience, an experience of the day/night life of Prague and a safe, comfortable place to sleep this is the hostel for you.

By far one of the best hostels I've been to. Staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. There are day and night activities you can tag along. Maddie is a great guide who knows all the best places for a good beer, dance or bite to eat. Jazz adds flavor to the hostel and John is a really fun positive force. Rooms are clean and comfy. The hostel makes sure solo travellers have ample opportunity to meet new people and have fun.

Awesome staff, great location, and cool space! They were really helpful with tips for fun things to do. Met some nice fellow travellers here, too. Great hostel for the backpacker crowd - 10/10!

Location was great and people were nice but just felt a bit grubby at times. Rarely saw the bathroom being properly cleaned and the beds were a bit dirty. But mainly just super overpriced for the lack of common areas and amenities. The kitchen sort of served the purpose of what a seperate dining/ hanging out area in other hostels would, so there was no place to have a chat in a smaller group or have kick ons after a night out as these areas got locked after 10ish pm. Also just wasn’t that much of a party hostel apart from drinking games. I like a small hostel vibe but this one just felt a bit cramped. Privacy curtains were great though

I am a 36 year old solo traveling and I've never been to a more welcoming hostel in my life. All of the staff and volunteers went above and beyond to be friendly and include everyone. The beds were comfortable and had privacy curtains, and the bathrooms and kitchen were spotless. Activities every night, an amazing lounge area with any and all streaming platforms for the hungover days. The only negative i can think of is having to leave people that in such a short time felt like such good friends. I will for sure be going back to prague just so i can stay at this hostel again! Thank you so much madhouse!!

I have been to 15 countries & stayed in Hostels each trip. Madhouse Hostel is hands down the BEST hostel I've ever been in. I stayed here last year and just had to come back this year for Halloween. It is the craziest party/social hostel and always a great time. I was happy to see most of the same staff again this year. They are the heart and soul of the hostel and truly make Madhouse a fun time. Devon, Danni, Abdul, Jazz, KG and Jake, thanks for the good time! Until next time guys!

All hostel staffs were really friendly and helpful. Felix is the best though :) One shared toilet for around 8 beds was very inconvenient and we all were complaining about the same. Area to mingle is also small and it is closed at night. So overall it was not worth for the money, compared to other hostels I have stayed before.

  • 2/5 Lewis M. 8 months ago on Google • 5 reviews
Location was good and staff were reasonably friendly. Incredibly, incredibly overpriced. 42 euros a night for a "mad house" with enforced quiet hours from 11 onwards, nowhere to talk or have a cigarette after a night out, very unenthusiastic staff regarding the activities, one toilet/bathroom for 12 people with all others locked at night meaning if someone came home and had a shower there would be a queue of people dying for the toilet. Beds were very dirty and they even put all 3 of us in separate rooms. The hostel was generally tiny and wasn't advertised as such. Would not recommend at all for groups - perhaps more suited to solo travellers.

I can absolutely recommend The Madhouse Prague, if you want a nice time in Prague! If you want a little bit less party, you should check out the Roadhouse (same owners), but do come to the Madhouse anyway for their social activities. All the staff is very nice, and I really hope to return at some point! :)

As a solo traveler, this is the most fun hostel I have stayed at in Europe by far. Its relatively small an it very easy to meet people. During my stay, every day typically had 2 events: a dinner and a party. Every night you get to see a different corner & vibe of the city with a very different energy. My stay in Prague could not have been any better. THANKS!

We had a great group stay here!! All the staff (special shoutout Kavish and Felix you legends🫡) were great and put on some fun nights out!! The food they cooked in the evening was delicious (portions were on the small side, but you're only paying 100 CZK/£3.50). They also have free milk, pasta and cereal. Only downside was that you're sharing a bathroom with around 12 people so although we saw the cleaner every morning, by the afternoon the showers/toilets were quite dirty and also was annoying having to wait for ages. Other than that, we had a great stay and would come back 😊 thanks for a great stay 🙏 Faye, Freddie, Chris and Cam 🫡

So Madhouse.. i honestly fell in love with this place, best hostel i have ever been to in Europe ! Employees were sooo friendly, the place location was perfect ! Everyday you have a different activity, some days karoeke, some days bowling, pubcrawls and so on. They also have very cheap drinks, free coffee and cereal. This place is a must to go to in Prague, you will have unlimited fun, i can really understand why many keep coming back here, aftee being back to Germany for 2 weeks, i cannot stop thinking about this hostel. Good job !

Arguably best hostel in Europe. The staff is amazing & the hostel itself is small which creates such a home-like environment. I recommend it to anyone wanting the party hostel experience. The staff leads fun events every night & are so inclusive. They also know tons about Prague & can suggest all of the best things to see during the day.

  • 5/5 Troy R. 1 year ago on Google
One of the top hostels in Europe - and I’d argue the best one in Prague. Facilities are excellent, location is central, and the rooms are impeccably clean. From a price perspective, it doesn’t get much better than this in Europe. Make no mistake - this is absolutely a party hostel, which means the clientele usually matches that energy. There’s a reason why Madhouse has a reputation. If you want to go out every night, this is the place. The good thing is that a wide variety of guests (study-abroad students, backpackers, weekenders, remote workers, thrill seekers, first-time extroverts) stay at this hostel, meaning you’re almost guaranteed to form a “group” to go out with by the time night falls. The excellent group dinners are usually the day’s final opportunity to link up with other travelers before heading out to the clubs. Staff are excellent, many have been there for years, meaning they know how to scratch your Prague itch. Definitely recommend playing a game of beer pong or two with them and hear their stories. Overall, few hostels punch this high on so many metrics: cleanliness, staff, social atmosphere, group dinners, location. Choosing this place as your HQ while in Prague is probably the safest and best choice you’ll make on your travels.

Great place for groups and solo travelers to meet people. As a first time traveler from the uk I highly reccomend. Rooms are good size with storage and curtains for beds. One of the better hostels I've stayed in. Great location too for siteseeing and going out. Only potential issue in height of summer weather there's no aircon but I would stay again. Day activities and drinking games every night! Also options to be fed and cook yourself. Had a great time.

  • 5/5 Kyle M. 1 year ago on Google
great hostel if you like to party! the staff were great, can't beat the location, and I was impressed with how consistently clean the place was. one thing to note is that the rooms (especially the upper rooms) tend to get very hot, especially if you have inconsiderate roommates who close the windows at night. but this is to be expected at party hostels. Since those who want to party leave the hostel for a pub crawl, I found it possible to get some sleep if needed as the place was pretty quiet after 10pm. Would be even better if they added AC.

  • 5/5 Kyrill N. 2 years ago on Google
Best hostel ever! The staff is immensely friendly, every night they cook delicious dinner and afterwards there are opportunities for socialising, activities, clubbing, whatever you'd wish for in a hostel. So if you're looking for a good time, this is your place

I live in Oklahoma city and got recommended the mad house by a stranger in Amsterdam ....thank God for that.....the mad house is the best hostel in Europe....wonderful friendly staff that will make you feel like family...you won't regret it!!!

  • 4/5 Oriana B. 1 year ago on Google
The mad house was in a great location, very central to most touristy locations and in a safe area as well. The hostel felt extra safe due to needing two different codes to get inside, as well as wristbands given to each guest. My roomate and I were placed in a room with two other girls which was nice, I would probably only go the all-women route from now on. There were activities (day and night) every day which kept it always exciting. Definitely a party hostel so don’t come here expecting it to be quiet all the time, especially at night. Although there are quiet hours and there are no real parties in the hostel itself, it can get loud when everyone comes back from the night activities. Group activities before going out were fun, be ready to be social forsure. The only downside is having to pay extra in order to attend the night activities (didn’t go to the day activities so not sure if these were free). Met a lot of cool people from around the world which is always a fun time. The only cons I would have is that the shower curtain was broken, and my roomate and I’s phone chargers on each of our beds wouldn’t work when the lights were off.

What an unreal experience! Best hostel I've stayed in so far. Staff are mainly volunteers so they're all really passionate about what they do and create a fun and inclusive experience for everyone. Bar crawls, drinking games, family dinners just cant ask for much more. Highly recommend.

Great social environment and great for meeting people from all over the world. Family dinners every night were good and super cheap too! The hostel staff plan nights out and drinking games every evening which is nice. I got to meet lots of people whilst staying here and going out every night was fun. The only thing I would say from my experience is some (not all) of the staff came across very clicky and would socialise with everyone apart from us, nonetheless this didn't ruin my stay, we also had to share a bathroom with 10 other people (4 staff members) this made using the bathrooms difficult as it was mostly always occupied, there are other bathrooms in the downstairs area however we were on the very top floor, we were not made aware of this when booking. However, its my first time staying in a hostel so I guess you get what you pay for.

Because of the current awful situation in the world, I stayed here for 7 nights instead of my originally planned 4 nights (canceled trips, these things happen nowadays). It actually turned out into a good thing that this happened, because the entire stay has been awesome! Even during these times, the staff really tries to make the very best of it. Unfortunately, finding enough staff has been a problem because more than half of the traveling community is not allowed to travel atm. So they have to work hard to keep it all running. Still, they do the family dinners and nightly activity everyday. That really shows the dedication. If you go here, just at least join dinner and the night activity everyday and you will have a great time! The dinner is freshly prepared by the staff and it’s a great way of meeting other travelers (besides drinking games and making people trolls of course ;)). It’s also nice how they work together with their sister hostel (Roadhouse) to get pretty big groups for the nights. The last night I stayed it was fully booked for the first time after lockdown so hopefully it will stay that way! The people that manage it and work there have been great! Kraig, Billy, Sara, Danni, Mike (yeah I know your name’s not Mike) and the other staff members thanks a lot and I will visit you again in the future if I’m ever around!

Definitely the best Backpacker hostel in Prague with a really familliar atmosphere and a "family dinner" together every evening. Staff are young travellers as well, often U only really know who's guest and who's staff after 1 or 2 days. Location is also fantastic, not only because its literally in the middle of the city but has a cheap and tasty Pizza takeaway that is open until 5am in the morning literally at the next door.

Incredible place and atmosphere. The staff are very pleasant and cool people. I had a very good time and I don't think I could've had that anywhere else. Not just the events or the city but mainly the staff making the trip a lot more fun. All the facilitates were kept clean and tidy. Staff were proper on it like. The shared space looked really awesome and had a bunch of things you can do in them. I will definitely be vising again at some point.

The staff were really great and really welcoming. On arrival you get a complimentary beer and they take the time to give you the tour of the hostel. The hostel has many cheap activities for you to do in the afternoon with the rest of the hostel and family dinner which is really good for socialising and have pub crawls available every night which are heaps of fun. The only thing that could be better is more showers and more space to chill when hungover. Overall it's a really great party hostel and the staff are really great

I will stay here again when I visit Prague, because I will be back to this magical place. Absolute perfect location. This is within walking distance of everything. This hostel is for people under 35 years of age. The staff is some of the nicest people I've ever met period. They host nightly pub/ club crawls and parties, I highly recommend the boat party on the river as well as family meals for a fee of course. free cereals and coffee and the beds are actually decent. Bathrooms in the room. It's hidden down a tiny street with pizza and burrito vendors open all night right below you.

  • 5/5 Oscar Findal A. 4 years ago on Google
Best place ever. The staff is perfect, the activities are insanely good, the family dinner feels like eating with your actual family. I'm a little bit disappointed i could not rate it with more stars. It totally deserves like a 100. I did the riverside walking tour - 10/10, would totally recommend (4 hours of all you can drink booze, just saying) And the karaoke bar was lots of fun. I'm not quite a singer, but being with so good friends made that scariness of doing it disappear real quick - 10/10. And the monastery walk was awesome and cozy before the big bad boy boat tour. Had such a blast, and if you ask for that double shot of vodka, yeah good luck - 10/10. So staying at the Madhouse is the best decision ever. DO IT - you will not regret it.

Without a doubt one of the best hostels I have ever stayed at. All the staff are great value and create an extremely social atmosphere from the first moment you step inside. Can highly recommend for solo travellers looking to experience Prague’s nightlife - felt like I was on a trip with mates I’d know for a long time, but that’s just the vibe the hostel staff create. Definitely a party hostel but everything online made that clear from the beginning. Already looking for the next chance to go back!

This is hands down the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at and I can’t want to be back! The staff was incredible and the events planned were awesome. They had a “family dinner” every night... dinner with everyone in the hostel. A beer fridge so you never worried about going out and getting drinks. It’s right around the corner from a supermarket and a few food places. Only placed to stay in in Prague!!

The Madhouse Prague is absolutely the best and most welcoming hostel that you could ever have the pleasure of staying in! It definitely accounted for my beautiful stay in Prague and I've met some of the greatest people here. Michelle, Billy and Bianca as well as the other staff members are kind and caring, seeing to people's individual needs as well as maintaining a friendly and bubbly atmosphere. Almost like a family, you can go out and socialise with each other on the array of activities (bowling, pub crawls and tours etc) which they offer or simply chat to and mingle with the other travellers! I 100% recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a wonderful trip to Prague!

The hostel was amazing! Me and my friend stayed there for about 3 nights and had a great time. The staff is SUPER friendly and are always ready to have a chat with you and make sure that you are okay and know what to do! There are daily activities hosted by the Mad House we participated in a walking tour, boat tour, kariokee night, group dinners and lots of other stuff (all in 3 days)! The staff succeeds in bringing everyone together and facilitates a lovely atmosphere where you can meet and drink and party with other guests! A special thanks/shout-out to Anna and Tom from the staff for just being all around awesome :) they totally didn't ask me to mention them ;) The rooms were nice and clean - and mostly pretty quiet, the staff made sure to take the party elsewhere so there were no late night parties at the hostel which ment that you could actually sleep if you want to! :) beds were pretty comfy too! Towels were provided and there were big safety lockers to make sure all of your things are safe.

If the fact I came back 3 times within a month doesn't say enough then you need to know that if you're staying anywhere else in Prague you're doing it wrong. Flat out best hostel I've ever been. I didn't book through hostelworld so couldnt leave a review on there but i can here. It's the best hostel in prague and arguably europe, never had a staff that make you feel so welcome and become such good friends with you in the process. Do the day time events they put on, do the night time events and you'll have the best trip prague can offer. Shoutout to Tom, proper sound lad and is a great hype man on karoke night. Shoutout to Kira, really sociable and will sacrfice her day off to take you to her favourite sights. Shoutout to Zach he's only there for the next three weeks but he's worth the spontaneous trip to prague. Finally big up Billy and Riza for their amzing cooking skills and in general all the staff for being proper sound people.

Positive The location was perfect, very close to the tram station. In the beginning, it wasn't very easy to find the place but someone came down to help us which was good. Negative They don't have an elevator, so at a times, going to the top floor can be a little tiring if you have to do it multiple times in a day. Plus the number of people to bathroom ratio can be improved a bit.

Simple thing to consider this hostel. 1. Party place 2. Solo travellers 3. Bear aura, best atmosphere, best crowd to hang with. Just 10/10

Pros: nice staff trying to get people together. Cons: here's my story of what can happen if you don't get lucky with roommates: I spent 4 nights in the hostel and each night was just terrible. In theory there's a rule that there must be no noise after 11pm, but in practice people don't follow it. My roommates were returning at 4am every night and staying awake until 7 or 8 am. They were very loud and unrespectful. The problem is that all common areas are closed during the night so people don't have a place to go during the night which is weird for a "party hostel". It was also very loud outside as windows are not plastic and there were constantly people shouting. I had earplugs but they didn't help. As a result I was sick all 4 nights from not being able to sleep and on my last night I wasn't able to sleep a single hour.

The Madhouse Prague is literally one of the best BEST hostel I have ever stayed at. The staff, the ambiance, the activities, the whole hostel itself - all amazing . The Madhouse team are a bunch of delightful people specially Tom, Kira and Kevin who go out of their way to make you feel safe and welcome in the hostel. Amidst the buzz of game nights, karaoke sessions ,fun drinking tours, cooking for the hostelers and having an all night helpline that you can call so that you don't get lost, they also have beer pong matches and really cozy Netflix binge watch sessions. The rooms are really really clean ,safety is always a first for them and they take their hostelers comfort very seriously so in case you are uncomfortable with anything, you can always speak to them and they are 100% ready to help. The washrooms are so clean and the whole hostel feels like home which is difficult when you have to leave :( Definitely definitely recommend this hostel to any solo travelers for Prague. You won't regret it

Of all the hostels I've stayed at, this has been one of my favorites. It's small enough that you can meet most of the people but big enough to have a good group to do things with through the day/evening. The staff are very nice and make an effort to know you and make sure everything is going well. They have created a great atmosphere to get to know both the city and the other travelers around you. If you ever don't know what to do, go to family dinner and see where the night takes you.

A friend recommended this hostel to stay at in Prague. Location is good. Not far from all the main attractions. Not too far f a walk from the Main central train station. The hostel itself is quirky in the way everyone meets in the kitchen space. The hostel is quite small as there isn't really a common room or outdoor space to hang. The rooms are a little tight but come with there own ensuite. Classic backpacker hostel. They'll take you out for a night in town which is perfect to meet people.

this hostel is purgatory in real life in the best way possible. I have extended my stay so many times I fear this is now my permanent residence. The staff is all extremely good looking, charming, & awesome! If u enjoy a cheeky beverage this is the place for you. I’ve been putting away the liquids like it’s my last day on earth. 10000% book this hostel you will have a hoot. Probably my favourite part of the whole hostel is the fan situation. Nothing is better than having some happy horizontal time with a nice breeze on ya. all in all I’d say this is best part of Europe and I will be returning pronto.

👍 A lot of + with one -. This is a very good place for the price (about 26€ or 650 czk/night/person in a room for two people). There is a good kitchen, refrigerator, showers, possibility for laundry and for printing documents, and a nice breakfast. Lidl is right across the street and the Viktoria Žiž...
