This definitely for adults and older kids. Most of it is reading and listening. There are a few things to interact with but not enough to keep a child entertained. I enjoyed it, but I read for fun. I’m giving it three stars because our tour guide began to talk about how he didn’t like trans people. That was pretty weird. No one even mention trans people. He just started talking about it. Overall I had fun and the bar next to it was great! I would definitely visit again!

A very atmospheric place! It looks more like an installation than a museum. Nevertheless, creepy authenticity shines through the humor of the modern presentation. A couple of exhibits even made me feel uncomfortable. It's good to have some idea about alchemy or take a tour to figure it out. We were lucky enough to arrive just 14 minutes before closing time. A friendly young man took us around the museum and we even made it up the spiral staircase to the tower. Unfortunately, the old building is not inclusive at all, and even on two legs it's not easy to climb the stairs.

Museum of BS. The topic has a great potential, but the execution sucks hard. Basically, the guide said that everything in the display is BS. "Alchemist didn't use that or that but we put it on the display anyway." What a waste of time. If it is a museum, you should have real articles on display. A free development idea for the museum staff: the guide could be dressed with historical clothing, instead of stupid sweatpants. Instead of saying everything on the display is BS, the guide could tell stories of alchemists work, goals and lives while pointing out that the items on the display are re-creations of alchemist lab stuff etc.

Please don't waste your time and money. You can use it in a better way for sure. It seems like a place for kids made by kids... Hilarious recreations, useless information... And not cheap at all.

I can not say much about this museum as it extends only on two rooms, while being filled with fake materials that would look like old and real. What I can say though is that I have experienced the worst customer service from this peculiar and extremely rude guide and had to ask for a refund! A no-go for me and hopefully for you as well.

A very nice place to visit if you're traveling with kids or simply embrace your inner child :) downstairs by the ticket office there's a lot of reading for adults and a small room with exposition. The main part though is the tower which you can visit with a guide who'll tell the stories of the alchemists who had a connection to the place. Can recommend for anyone who's into such topics and don't take themselves too seriously.

A fun little diversion if you don't take it too seriously! It's quite small and doesn't take too long so you can be in and out in 20 minutes. The price of admission is a bit high for what it is, but you get a 10% discount in the really cool alchemical pub (which is already very cheap). The lady who guided us was lovely too!

I wasn't quite amused by the first part (floor) of the museum. There were some interesting legends to read. But this floor is more for taking photos which you can then show to your friends. But the attic floor is different. Here you have a guide with you. He was a good storyteller and this made the experience better. The setup is also very authentic.

I bought a combi-ticket for this and the ghost museum and...I don't know... it's largely skippable. It's nicely decorated but kinda cheap looking at times. The guided part of the tour were kinda hard to understand and for the most part it's just a reading experience. Texts upon texts of information about stuff I barely remember now. What I do remember is thinking that I could read that up on Wikipedia though. Mainly I am confused about who this is for? Because I could see it being a nice 'chamber of horrors' type of attraction for kids but then again there's all this reading that you can't really expect children to do. If you didn't stop to read every piece of information the experience lasts about 15 Minutes. Considering what you get from it the tickets are far too expensive. I don't know. I'm kinda disappointed. If you're looking for an actual inside into alchemy in Prague go to the 'Speculum Alchemiae' The connecting bar is cool though. It's themed after an alchemical laboratory and they take the theme very seriously. The drinks are sort of expensive but it's worth to stop by.

Fun place, amazing guide upstairs, price is a bit much for a place entirely recreated, there is a lot of reading. If you have an hour to kill it's a nice place to visit

It's misleading to call this a museum when it's really a fun parlor with spooky recreations of what an alchemy laboratory might have looked like. The hint is when they also try to sell you a combined ticket for the ghost house down the street. The only authentic thing in the building was the steep and narrow wooden staircase you have to climb to the attic.

I found this place very interesting and fun to visit. It is made of 2 parts: the lower level where you can buy the tickets and read a lot about alchemy, and the tower where you can go through a guided tour with a very nice and fun guide and see some really nice exhibitions. The whole tour was maybe around 15 minutes, but you can stay after and take pictures or dig further. I guess you could find other places with more emphasis on the alchemical procedures and whatnot, but it doesn't make this place any less interesting. Staff were very friendly and enthusiastic. There is also an alchemy pub next to it, but i didn't check it out.

Unusual peek into the past. You do not have to believe in the esoteric to enjoy this small but interesting tour inside Rudolf's laboratory. Uncovered only 20 years ago, the underground rooms have been refurbished but give a convincing taste of what they were like... The tour-guide had many anecdotes and though it is fairly small, it should appeal to even small children.

This museum is such an interesting snippet into an unusual part of Prague history. The first part was small, and not very interactive, so probably better for adults or older children. However, the second part of the tour was guided and much more interesting. The guide was full of enthusiasm and made the tour so much better! We then went to the pub, conveniently located in the courtyard. They had some absolutely amazing cocktails on offer, as well as other drinks and food you would expect. I had the Dragons Breath cocktail, and the friendly staff gave a lovely show with this!! Even if you don’t end up looking around the museum, I’d highly recommend going just for the cocktail experience!

The museum has two parts: one on the ground floor with background of alchemy and the other part up in the attic (please note that you get there by taking some steep stairs, 3 floors up. Not sure if there's an elevator, but I don't think so). The vibe on the first floor was great and really got you into the right mood. For the second part, you'll have a tour guide that will have a small tour around the attic. It was cool, but occasionally a bit hard to fully grasp what the guide wanted to communicate. I'd like to point out, like many others, that the museum was very small. A lot smaller than what I expected, despite reading some reviews beforehand. Additionally, the museum it's quite text heavy, hence, be expected to read quite a lot during your visit (the info was available in both Czech and English).

The place is good. There is a lot of history with is really nice. The staff working there have a big knowledge. Although if you want to buy some eliksirs, you need to prepare your self and your wallet. The price isn’t disproportionate to the ingredients used, there is like 30 stuff inside but it’s expensive. We went there mostly for eliksir of love but we didn’t purchase it.

(Translated by Google) Well done, but unfortunately quite expensive! In combination with the Ghost Museum I wouldn't buy it anymore, it costs 310 crowns in total. If only admission to the Alchemist Museum. Unsuitable for wheelchair users, you have to go up a few stairs over a spiral staircase to the 2 showrooms. A showroom is on the ground floor. I think that children might like it very well. There are folders in different languages, including German for explanation. Staff quite friendly. Personal recht freundlich.

Fun little museum tucked away from the main tourist trail up to Prague castle. Tickets are purchased in the main office and can be used for the Alchemy museum house and the Ghosts and Legends museum not far away. The guided tour takes you up to the attic across the courtyard from the ticket office. The attic is not handicapped accessible. However, kids will love the climb as its reminiscent of ascending into a giant tree house. Once in the attic, the guide recounts the life and trials of the past owner. There are some very interesting tid bits of information given during the brief tour. Once back down on the ground, be sure to hit the bar in the building opposite the main ticket office for interesting ambience and off the wall drink concoctions!

Brilliant and comical little museum the downstairs room is interactive and the room up in the tower is a riot of wonderful exhibits. The woman who gave our tour was lovely and very funny. The museum itself is quite interesting but a little tongue-in-cheek as a lot of the information is hearsay (William Shakespeare was a spy in Prague for the British secret service don't you know?), and there aren't many original pieces (excepting the building itself). But overall it was a fun, creepy, and whimsical experience, highly recommend.

I was so excited to visit this museum, and while it seemed a bit old, it was a lot of fun. There was a guide included (in English too!) and the guide was so sweet and friendly. We went to the bar afterwards and got drinks which were so fun! They're served in beakers with dry ice to make them bubble and "smoke" which was a really nice touch. Loved it!

A bit small and cramped but the guide makes it all worth it. So good at engaging the visitor today on the 10th of October! Interesting showcase of Dee and Kelley and some surprise characters who figured in Prague's alchemist history. Don't forget the view from the tower! Steep steps and narrow passages makes it not accessible for everyone.

If you are interested in the history of alchemy, you have to visit this one! While the ground floor isn't super impressive, it'll delight any fan of the legend of Dr. Faustus, with a dark re-build of his house filled with information on different alchemists. Where it gets really good is the upstairs rooms! First, you walk up the oldest wooden staircase in Prague, it's well used and feels a bit rickety in places, but it's an experience! At the top waits a guide who will give you a personal little tour of the study and laboratory, happy to answer any questions you might have, and giving a fantastic overview of alchemical history. I loved the tour and the upstairs laboratory stuffed full of exhibits. What a brilliant little museum!

First we wanted to give it 5 stars because we were very excited and it had a very cute alchemy-themed cafe in a quiet patio. However, our guide was quite rude and his English was not understandable. The exhibition was actually very well designed with provided texts but the guide rushed us through it and didn’t allow us to stay and read. This sadly caused us to learn nothing from the museum.

The museum was an interesting part of the trip that gave us a ton of background into the tidal effect alchemists had on early science in Europe and throughout the world - the coolest part was their bar, that featured drinks in science beakers with dry-ice that mimicked a chemical reaction - not only were they delicious, they looked cool as heck! Would definitely recommend the bar after the museum!

Worse experience in a museum until now. First part consists of a few tales that you need to read and are quite long otherwise almost nothing to see. The second part consists of a ‘guided’ tour of an attic with a fee props. The guide will tell you what they need to tell you as fast as humanly possible then leave you ‘admire’ their props. This is all. If you are curious or want to give your kinds a tour maybe the cafe is a better experience(we did not tried it since the tour was so lame and we were disappointed). Also they start the tour at a specified time maybe, they told us they will let us know when they will start the guided tour then left without us even if we were next to the guide and could have announced us the tour is starting.

Not worth it! It is an empty place. The first floor is just an empty room with a lot of text and the second floor has some ok staging but is not at all worth its price.

  • 3/5 Anna Y. 5 years ago on Google
This place looked more like a photography experience than an actual museum. If you are interested in going and taking pictures themed by alchemy - this is a place for you. It is rather immersive, but I wouldn't say that I have learned a lot from the visit, however this also might be just due to my general disinterest in the subject. We have spent around half an hour in there and in my opinion it wasn't worth the money we paid. There is an alchemy bar on sight which makes interesting cocktails alcoholic and non-alcoholic, which look like elixirs! Overall in my opinion it can be visited after all the other historical landmarks if there is a time to spare.

The biggest feature of this museum remains hidden untill you climb the old tower and realize that it was in fact a real alchemist laboratory several centuries ago. Find a guide who will tell you the full story. We met one inside the tower. The story is really amazing. What I also like about this museum is that they recreated real alchemist devices from drawings. There is only one problem: they don't accept credit cards. Make sure you have enough cash!

Went here yesterday and was not impressed at all. The first room had lots of posters with small writing on them, detailing the history or alchemy. However it was impossible to concentrate on what was being said because one of the women who worked there walked up and down the length of the first room talking VERY loudly on her mobile phone the entire time. After putting up with this for 10 minutes we left in disgust.

+++ some cool-looking designs, imaginative and immersive environment. Aside for some plastic mannequins that looked run-down, everything else felt quite authentic and made with care and creativity - - - it's cool for kids and it's playful. I honestly didn't store any interesting information, and alchemy is cool and interesting by default. How they managed to make it boring I have no idea - - - the guide was fun and had a great sense of humour but the stories were dumb. Eg. Shakespeare was actually a secret agent who came to Prague and swapped wives with some alchemist (?) I am not even sure if I have it right but it was something cringe like that. Anyway, not my kind of stories. Alchemy must have felt pretty real scientifically to those people and I really wanted to get a feel of that + + + the guide is actually a really smart guy and you can have a cool conversation with him. Aside from the story in the schedule that is.

Walls of small text to read. Highly informative but a bit too academic. A highly staged almost cartoonish alchemy lab. Very accomodating guide who told an amusing tale with interesting information. All in all a very mass market experience that lacked in substance.

Being an enthusiast of Alchemy and collector of apothecary containers, I enjoyed the visit to this museum immensely and recommend it to visitors who have a similar appreciation. Lovely displays and presentation.

Such a cute place. You can tell this was made by some guys who just had a passion for alchemy. The man who guided us talked very fast so it was sometimes hard to hear, but he was funny and friendly

This is a hidden gem and worth the little detour to find. Food is average and pricing a little "touristic" but the concept is fantastic. Once you have found the little pub in the courtyard (which in summer sometimes has live music!), then order one of theany "Elixirs" served in a round bottomed flask - perfect for the budding chemist in you🪄

Ar first look the place is interesting, especially if you visit during the night. But the moment you enter, you'll find a boring guide who don't like to talk, to tell a story or something. They will take you upstairs, where you will find a fake room, again no story told about anything from there. Boring and expensive experience. With that amount of money you can drink 8 beers just across the street from this place.

A cute and interesting place but over priced. It is very small and there is not much to see. It will not fill more than half a hour of your time so I think the price should reflect this. I would recommend just going for a look around the courtyard and having a drink in the pub.

Very interesting insight into bohemian history of alchemy. There is a long and windy staircase to navigate if you have mobility issues. But an awesome little gem in Prague.

Its is an AMAZING place for fans of horror, gothic culture, esoterism. You can understand that the creator has put a great effort to make this place. DO NOT FORGET to visit Kellyxir across the alley. One of the best bars in Europe.

Such a fun experience here!!! They let us interact with the downstairs room first and I was a bit worried at how small it was for the ticket price and how much was clearly a joke. But THEN they take you up the tower and give you a fantastic tour around the old alchemy studio. Then when you return downstairs it all feels like its been given a new lease of life. The attention to detail is phenomenal, the staff are hilarious and so fun. Just don't go if you're expecting a historical education. This is a fantastic experience but only if you don't try to take it (or yourself) too seriously. I just want to mention the staff again because our tour guide was so wonderful!!!!

Came here today, pretty good. They have a pub/bar next door where they serve drinks in beacons which is kind of funny and quirky. They guide was pretty good too, honestly if it wasn’t for him I’d give it 2 stars. Once I bought the ticket and entered the first part of the museum I had to wait for the guide to finish eating his food before he’d take me to the second part, at the time of purchase nothing was mentioned about having to wait.

Very nice place hidden in patio of old buildings. Good cocktails with dry ice so it looks like real alchemist's flask. One star less for cash payment only.

Nice place to visit. Nothing great, still you can visit here one time. They will explain the story of alchemist. There are mainly 2 places, one at the ticket counter where the picture with spin wheel is on floor (as in picture). There is also a big room at 3rd or 4th floor, where the alchemist did their experiments. At the top there is also a viewing area which is cool.

Don't take it too seriously. A bit of fun for a rainy day, but I wouldn't travel over there just for this if you are in a different part of the city. Room 1 has lots of reading about the history of Czech alchemy. Room 2 is in the building's tower. The staff gave us an interesting 20 presentation about the history. However, it is not a museum and there are no artefacts from the region's history. Great view of the city from the top. However, we were in and out in 25 minutes. Not sure it was worth the cost!

Really interesting and fun place to visit, especially taking into account that it's quite near to the Prague Castle. The service team speak English well and the guide who works there made our visit really fun and full of interesting stories and facts about Czech alchemy. Also, the price is quite lower than in the most Prague museums what is also a pretty good bonus. Moreover, there's a little bar/cafe inside, where you can buy fun drinks inside alchemist flasks and all museum attendants get the 10% discount. So, it's just a worthy place to take a look if you're nearby and I had a good time there.

Super cheesy. There’s some history to read on the ground floor that you could find on the Internet instead. After climbing some challenging stairs, you reach a reconstructed tower laboratory section. The guide’s explanations are often historically dubious and geared more toward entertainment; if you’re actually interested in the history, you will likely find this frustrating and annoying. If you only have time for one of these, prioritize the Speculum Alchemie instead.

Amazing little museum giving you a glimpse into the less known art of alchemy in Czechia. The tour guide was the best I've seen - sharing much knowledge and insight into the history of alchemy. First part of the museum is small and you have to read a lot. Some interactive games also. Second part is guided in the laboratory of Kelly. A must see if you want to see something different than just castles and churches!

Fun little museum. Those who like strange things will like it. We had a good time. Definitely worth a look

An amazing museum. Easy to pass by, but a must see. From going up the oldest stairs in Prague, to looking around the place and hearing the very captivating and peculiar story of the Alchemist, this place will transport you back into a time of magic. The palace is made carefully and with attention to detail, which makes it so interesting. I am a huge fan of everything mysterious and "magical", so to step into an alchemical laboratory is a dream come true. Highly recommend visiting the place, the guide takes time to explain everything and to give you a glimpse into the very strange life of Edward Kelly.

A must visit if you have an hour to spare, they have put a lot of thoughtful work into this to make it a great experience. There is history and mystery mixed into the tour and it’s just right. Be sure to stop by the additional bar to get a fun alchemy drink, they have non-alcoholic options and the staff are fun and genuine.

Very nice and atmosphere place. Have discounts for students. Museum of 2 floors: 1. Look and read by yourself, a small self-guide is found there in a few languages. 2. Upstairs tower with a guide, actually was surprised for good, he made very atmospheric tour and were welcome for questions. Very recommend going to a bar downstairs after the tour.

A great place for lovers of magic, alchemy and amazing stories. The first floor is not the most impressive. All the interesting stories will take a long time to read on large signs with text. But on the top floor there is a wonderful guide waiting for you, who will lead you through the ancient alchemist's laboratory and answer any tricky questions. The main bonus is a small viewpoint at the very top of the tower.
