I was mistaken. This place is a real shame. I paid a high admission fee to enter the museum, but most of the exhibits were reproductions. Moreover, the exhibits were in frosted glass, which made it difficult to appreciate them. If they call themselves a museum, they should display their works in a proper way. The first room had a good number of paintings, but once you go to the back room, the number of paintings decreases drastically. I was like, what? That's all? I muttered to myself. If there are so few works, it is much better to see the Mucha exhibition that is sometimes held in my country. Mucha is my favorite artist, but I will never go here again. It is better to buy a book and see it.

Is a beautiful, but small collection of Mucha art. If you’re a fan a must see. If not a fan you should see anyway as the artworks are even more impressive in original size and color. Also awesome collection of posters to buy.

Good exhibition but no originals apart from one paint. My partner is a huge fan of Mucha ( don't know why) and I was happy for him to see the posters and the old photographs. Expensive for a 15 min show though.

Hello, I very rarely write reviews but I found this important to mention. While the few pieces that are there are very interesting, this "museum" has no more than 2 rooms as exhibition. Paying 10 EUR per person to see 2 rooms in less than 15 min is rather an insult. Mucha was an inspiring artist that definitely deserves much more recognition. My advise? DO NOT waste your money and 5 min of time here. Unfortunately, it's just a tourist trap...

It's a very small museum, but honestly one of the more interesting ones in Prague. The art is quite pretty and the gift shop has fun and artistic gifts. Note that the prices at the gift shop can be a bit more expensive than they are online. If you like collecting poker decks, don't get the big playing cards. Most of the big boxes just have an inspired art back, but the faces are plain cards. Instead, get the small pink bridge playing cards. They have the actual artwork printed on the face of each card. The artbook is quite nice as well, as well as the tarot deck. The tarot deck has inspired art though, not by the original artist. Other souvenirs are run of the mill stuff you find at any museum souvenir shop, calendars, cards, etc. They all look quite nice, and not too expensive.

Small, but lovely museum. A must see for Mucha enthusiasts. I tend to take my time in museums, so I was here for about an hour and a half, then maybe spent a half hour in the gift shop. The employees were very nice. no photos though! I accidentally missed the sign, so took two, but was very politely made aware of it.

The art pieces themselves are great, but the set-up and lighting of the gallery doesn't do them justice. The lights shine in such a way, that you cannot see the paintings adequately since it creates a reflexion on the glass or only partially lights up the canvas leaving most of the art works in the shadows. What a shame. The museum itself is very small as well and doesn't come close to covering all of Mucha's greatest artworks, charging 15€ for two rooms worth of artworks, that are badly lit is questionable.

A bit overpriced (280 CZK) taking into consideration the number of available posters, drawings and paintings put together in just 3 rooms. Information about the piece is definitely too poor however the shop is a must for all Mucha’s fans.

Really bad experience! First, I've been cheated at the beginning - I came with a child( and they clearly saw it), but they sold me 2 adults' tickets, I noticed it only later in the day... and second: it is 2 small rooms! And movie section. I paid almost 30 euros! It is super overpriced. Mucha is one of my favorite artists, so I expected something special from a museum with this name... but it's a trap. Big, big disappointing!

Yes, it’s a small museum but if you’re a graphic designer or an artist you’ll find the exhibition very interesting. There are sketches, paintings and posters created by Mucha during different stages of his life. There’s also a little documentary at the end. For me, the visit lasted like 2 hours because I stopped on every detail, but I understand that if you’re not that into arts or design the museum is small. The gift shop has incredible things and it’s a shame that I couldn’t buy many of them because they wouldn’t survive the trip.

We were severely disappointed. It took us about 30 minutes for the entire (very small) exhibit. At 350 czk (approx. €14.60) per adult that is ridiculously overpriced. Half the admission price or double the exhibition size would be more fair. I would definitely not recommend this to anyone on a budget. Honestly, the gift shop was almost the size of the museum which made the whole thing just feel like a money grab.

I discovered my favorite artist I had never heard of at this museum. Mucha's art has been so incredibly influential, and I loved seeing his progression of style. The progression of his art as he progressed through his development was absolutely fascinating to see in person, and the ubiquity of his stylistic influence can't be overstated. However, the gift shop staff was incredibly rude, and when they rung be up for a object I had asked them not to, they refused to give me a refund. It felt very robbery adjacent, but I do not complain due to the high quality of the art they were selling.

The most amazing artwork I have witnessed in a while. Mucha was a Czech artist in the Regency and Victorian Era. I have one of his rarest pieces tattooed on my arm that I didn’t see in the museum but I love so much. The museum itself was such a peaceful place to be and I enjoyed ever second of it:)). The people who work at this museum were so kind and helpful. I come to Praha often and I definitely want to come back!

For a museum about Mucha, there is astonishingly few things to see about him. The posters are great, but the entry price way to high for what you get. Also the story is the same size as the exhibit. Clearly they are out for money and not interested in creating a memorizable museum experience.

Unlike the wonderful Kafka museum, this is an example of a gallery without ambition. The decor and exhibition straight from the 90s, far from contemporary art gallery spaces. It is a pity because the works of Alfons Mucha deserve better exposure. Anyway, it's worth a look because the art collection itself is very interesting!

You have to visit if you like art noveau. I enjoy looking at his art in Paris and when we was back in Prague. I also took some souvenirs from the shop to give to my friends. It is a small museum, you can spend one hour, one hour and a half top.

The Mucha Museum was created in 1998 by the Mucha Foundation in partnership with COPA sro. It is the only official museum dedicated to Alphonse Mucha; all the works in the museum are from the Mucha Trust Collection and the work of the Museum directly supports the work of the Foundation. The museum opens with a selection of Mucha's decorative panels created at the turn of the 19th century in Paris. These series of themed lithographs are among Mucha’s most popular and well-known works and were created as inexpensive works of art which could decorate even the most modest home. The museum also presents a selection of Mucha's celebrated fin-de-siècle posters, including two original printer’s proofs of Gismonda, the poster Mucha created for Sarah Bernhardt. Not only did this poster propel Mucha to stardom, it also revolutionised poster design. The long narrow shape, the subtle pastel colours and the halo effect round the subject’s head were to remain features of Mucha’s posters throughout his life. Apart from the monumental canvases of the Slav Epic, Mucha’s paintings in oil are relatively unknown. The selection of paintings on show in the museum encompasses the whole range of Mucha’s artistic aspirations, from the personal to the prophetic. Of the works presented in the museum, the majority date from the later period of Mucha’s life; the only early work is Prophetess. Some of the atmosphere of fin-de-siècle Paris and of Mucha’s studio at rue du Val-de-Grâce is recreated by using items from the artist’s studio of the period. Many of these objects may be seen both in photographs of models taken by Mucha in the studio and also in his drawings and posters. The objects he bought in Paris followed him on his travels before finally settling with him in Prague. A selection of the sketches and designs which underpin his finished works are also on display. The drawings and pastels reflect both the breadth of his artistic vision and also his understanding and mastery of different arts media.

Walked in to hide out from the rain and ended up staying to take in the artwork by Mucha. I learnt so much about an artist I didn't even know about. The best part is the store where you can buy many items inspired by his work. Not sure though if entrance fee is comparable to other museums or whether it should be considered expensive.

Also time to boost up the museum itself :the general presentation, lightning, explanations, audio.... and go for an interacting digital.

The museum has many original drawings, designs, posters and several other items related to Mucha's life. It is small and you finish it in 20 minutes if you look 30 seconds at each item. 2 rooms and a video on a small. TV set at the end, nothing interesting about way to exhibit the art. Boring beyond the actual works and only few paintings, mostly posters. Too expensive at 260 crowns per visit, which is huge. Maybe if you are super passionate, but it is possible to see better Mucha elseoart of larger exhibitions for better deal.

The museum showcases an important aspect of Czech culture and is the second best among Prague's Mucha museums. It's regrettable most of the English signs are small and all in italics.

Great museum showcasing some of Mucha's best works. The museum takes you l through a journey, starting with his serendipitious entry into Parisian artists world, to how we came up with his great masterpiece, the Slav Epic, in a movie at the end. The gift shop at the end had a lot of options at great prices.

It's a small museum but is well worth the visit (though it's about 10 euros). Mucha's famous posters can be seen up close (exposition is composed mostly of posters), as well as some sketches and paintwork.

  • 3/5 Chris R. 1 year ago on Google
It's a nice museum but very small and a somewhat limited section of his works. For the price you pay it's pretty average. The gift shop is good if you're looking to pick up some nice quality posters but looks like most of the very popular pieces are sold out. If you're in Prague around this time I'd recommend the iMucha Exhibition in Municipal House they have a huge selection of his works and some big pieces too.

Small but excellent museum illustrating Alfonse Mucha's work, especially his posters from the late 19th century. There's a helpful video in English at the back of the museum that I would've gone to see first had I known of it. It created context for anything else in the museum.

It was good really liked the artwork there. But for the the price it wasn't the best. It was a small floor with Mucha's works and history. The gift shop was worth it though. Bought a poster for myself which was pretty worth it.

You will see most of Mucca's illustrations that he did for Sarah Bernhardt. His series of illustrations are also on display with detailed descriptions. There is also an AV that tells us about his life and how influential his work was to the people of Czech.

The first room was really nice, all the classics from Muchas Parisian Era were displayed and the texts were very long and informative. The second room was disappointing though. The Slav era (from his last years) is not displayed and there was a movie which unfortunately was 30mins long and only displayed in Czech. They have it in English, too, but the museum staff insisted on showing it in Czech because there were 2 Czech visitors. There wasn’t anything else to do for 30 mins until the next showing, so we left. The price of 15€ is too high for the small size. There were two information booklets which could be purchased at the entrance and asking the woman selling them what the difference between the two was she repeatedly stated the price of them instead of the difference in content which we clearly were refering to.

Not only for fans. In case you haven’t heard about Mucha you might wanna visit this museum of one of Europe’s finest artists. A lot of his work is on display, and I was surprised how many new aspects of this artist I discovered.

Really disappointing experience. This « museum » if I can call it that, is extremely small and does not contain many works of art. The lights are mediocre, for the few works that there are you can't even see them... paying 350 Czech crowns for that is a shame.

This museum was a lovely find. There are myriad examples of Mucha's works with thorough descriptions in Czech and English. Be sure to watch the video as it provides great information on Mucha's life. The gift shop is very nice.

The visit to Alphonse Mucha Museum is an absolute must, when in Prague. It is located at Panská 7, 110 00 Nové Město. Not far from the Václavské náměsti, with egzamples of interesting architecture. So, also worth a walk. Tickets to the Mucha Museum can be bought either online, or at the ticket desk on the spot. Prices are reasonable: 350 CZK full, or 280 CZK reduced. Worth it! Worth every dime! I spent there over an hour. I fulfilled my dream. Remember, there is a stained glass window designed by Alphonse Mucha, in the St. Vitus Cathedral at the Hradčany castle compounds.
