This is the largest Army Museum in the Czech Republic, mapping the history of the military in the Czech lands. Entrance is free.

Open everyday 10 - 6pm (excluding Mondays) and admission is free. It's about a ten minute walk from Florenc metro station. Every exhibit has an information board/sign attached in Czech and English. The ground floor is mostly related to the period in and around WW1, 1st floor around WW2. The exhibits range from uniforms, medals, artillery pieces, guns of all description, sabres, etc, from most european nations. If you like military history, a proper, old fashioned museum, where you can look at exhibits, not have to put up with screaming school kids, etc, then you'll definitely like this place. It does not look much from the outside but don't let that put you off.

Was supposed to reopen in 2020 but it's 2022 and it's not yet open?

Insanely cool museum with so much to look at! There is so much in here that you could easily spend a day if you read and look at everything. I recommend spending 2-3 hours here. 7,000 exhibits. Also, it’s free of charge (but you need to pay 5 crowns to store any bag before proceeding). Could not recommend more.

Don’t often write reviews but this museum deserves one for sure. I’ve been to countless military history museums but this one was really special. Free entry for such an extensive museum with amazing exhibits and a cafe with a great view is just unbelievable! The way they managed to present the exhibits was awesome and creative too. (There was one area that completely took me by surprise it was so impressive! Won’t spoil what it was though, go experience it for yourself!) Loved every second of my visit. Will be back again for sure. 10/10

It's free! There are hundreds of exhibits to look at, including some very rare and special ones (not gonna spoil). It's structured very well and takes you from the begging of history of Czech lands till modern days, focusing on military history (of course). I don't know how people can run through it in 1.5 hours. It's a 4+ hour effort for sure, especially if you attentive and read the descriptions. Highly recommended overall.

Went by the other day and found out the museum is being renovated until 2020 and is closed. It's a shame because I've only heard good things about the collection.

An extremely interesting museum with lots of expositions, sound accompaniment, some interactive parts (you can touch and take some old weapon, go into realistic room-section that shows a frontline). After visiting this museum, you know more about medieval wars, WW1 and WW2. Very exciting! If you want to read everything and pay attention to details, it takes more than 2 hours. Warning: some expositions may trigger refugees of war

Great museum! Cool military stuff is exhibited, the history is interesting! And I don't know if we just came at a convenient time but it wasn't crowded at all so that's a plus

By far the best Military History museum I've ever seen and it is completely FREE. It is also HUGE and with plenty of interesting content that goes from medieval times all the way to the present time. It takes several hours to see it fully, so take it easy. Special mention to the WWI and WWII exhibitions. They even have an exposition that simulate life in the trenches with artificial smoke, sounds, air, etc. Unreal and definitely an unique experience. Completely recommended.

Impressive would be the most adequate adjective to describe the experience. Over 700 years of military history, with the focus on Bohemian and Moravian significance in the international context. Ample of rare and unique firearms and other weapons are exhibited in the museum. Regarding the weaponry, one is guaranteed to be fascinated by the sheer number of unique prototype firearms through the history of Czech weapons industry. The said curiosities are well-documented and represented. The mentioned collection itself makes the museum worthy. The building itself is impressive: built in late 1920s, and recently completely renovated, makes the exhibition even more astonishing. The service by the staff was excellent, the exhibition was well-planned and documented by the brochures given by the employees. Truly worthy experience.

What a Gem! It's informative, the exhibits are well maintained and great quality, the interactive trenches experience is an eye-opener. Some harrowing footage and photos of WW2 which you might find upsetting however it is informative and respectful. I could have spent longer here had I had more time. It was easy to navigate using a one way system- I wish more museums would adopt a system like that. And...it's free!!

This museum was amazing. Way better than I had anticipated. It was very interactive and fun. The trenches exhibit was particularly memorable. So much detail and expert planning went into the creation of this wonderful museum! Will definitely visit again

How was this museum so quiet? It's free and it's incredibly extensive. I spent 3 hours here before we ran out of time, could have easily spent 4 hours. I feel like this was the one place in Prague where I was really able to get a sense of the full history of the country, at least through its conflicts. Seeing history through the perspective of a country that wasn't always independent was very fascinating.

We were really amazed by the museum. One of the best museums I have ever visited. It was modern, interactive, with a lot of amazing exponates and interesting text. And the entry is free!!! We spent there almost 3 hours and could spend there more if we had enough time. Everyone visiting Prague should see it.

Very well organized museum, so many expositions, multimedia and text. Full history of the two World Wars and the time in between and more; and all of that for free!

  • 5/5 Kristine R. 4 months ago on Google
What a fantastic experience. You get to experience so much history and it really goes into detail about things. A lot to see and read! It was truly mind blowing. Wasn't crowded, has a lovely coffee shot on top with friendly staff. Building is nice and big and the museum stretches across 3 floors. It took us 2hrs to go though it and thats with not reading everything so its a must! And to top it all off its a free entry.

1st of the nice things this place has. The entry is for free and the exposition was really nicely arranged

the best museum in Prague for a military fan! Very well designed tour, a vast chronicle of military history. I felt like I was immersed in a wonderful show. The trenches exhibition is nothing but stunning. The abundant collection of weaponry reflects the strong accumulation of Czech's military industry. And there are professional and friendly staffs. Let alone the free entry! Definitely worths visiting!

That was excellent. We were a group and everyone enjoyed it. The entry is free. From napoleon over 2nd world war is is everything included. The cafe has also a nice view and good prices.

I'm not much of an armies and weapons kind of person but this museum is amazing. I enjoyed every room and every floor of the exhibition. I learned a lot of interesting things and even played some memory match games in there. The museum is free. It has info in English about everything. Really great. Admirations.

Museum is under construction until 2020. Personally I didn’t enjoy the exhibition too much, maybe after the reconstruction I’ll give it another chance!

  • 5/5 Domi W. 1 year ago on Google
Really great considering that it's free. What stuck out where the things you were allowed to touch. You can for example lift up medieval arms and experience the weight of a sword or helmet. Would definetly recommend checking it out.

  • 5/5 Miroslav S. 1 year ago on Google
The new exhibition after the construction is very good. A lot of people inside can certainly testify to that. The very nice mediaval Husit's wall of carriegies, Great war trenches etc. Nice coffee upstairs but food can run out on a busy days lately. I had a lot of fun watching lecturing fathers of families to their helpless wifes and kids, too. :-D)) Seriously, must see for anybody interested in history. And those not born here may with a surprise find out that the Czech have not been so peaceful folk after all. My 13 year old is willIng to revisit. That summ up nicely.

The best museum in Prague and one of the best museums I've been to. You can see everything (Shields, swords, uniforms, guns etc) about European militaries from the 14th century until today. And it's even free.

  • 5/5 david c. 1 year ago on Google
A very nice experience, the circuit takes you from the early days of knights and medieval battles to ww1, ww2, and modern military weapons and equipement, each floor and room as a certain “theme”. Every item is clearly explained(also in english) and for the ones interested theres alot of history to read. Its a must-vizit for a history or military enthusiast but not only.

Great museum, It’s free, signs in CZ & EN, I wouldn’t recommend visiting during the weekend as it gets rather crowded.

  • 5/5 Daniel H. 1 year ago on Google
Free entrance. Lots of historical artefacts to show what was being talked about. Gorgeous swords, armor, guns and everything under the sun. Texts were very well-written giving nuanced views of what happened. Can totally recommend.

This museum is for anyone with a remote interest in military related stuff. They show shells, ammos, guns, tanks, cannons. I did not know an 88 shell was that big until I saw it. You spend around 2-3 hours here. The lighting is quite dim on a rainy day. Its located out of town so you have to find it or uber if you have more than 1 person.

  • 4/5 Roger S. 10 years ago on Google
Free admission, plenty of exhibits could easily spend a day in here so two hours doesn't really do it justice. Opening hours 10:00-18:00, closed on Mondays. English annotations, easy to follow. Location a bit off the beaten track, Florenc seems to be the nearest Metro.

  • 5/5 Patrik H. 7 years ago on Google
Excellent museum. Gives you a comprehensive overview of Czech military history and the Czechs' significant contribution to the allied cause in both world wars.

  • 5/5 Stefan W. 6 years ago on Google
Well worth to visit! Its a bit hidden from the main touristical path, but shows a very interesting exhibition about Czech soldiers in the Austrian and Russian imperial armies in WW 1 and also a very good new designed exhibition about the WW 1 at all. Well worth also to see the part about the german occupation time 39-45. Unfortunately, the part about the interwar period 1918-1939 was closed without prior announcement!
