A small and modest museum. You can spend around 1 - 1.5 hour. There were not so many visitors so it was quiet. The entrance fee is 150kc for adult.

One of my favorite museums in Prague! This is a nice museum that both kids and adults would enjoy. The exhibits are interactive and the explanations provide a lot of context. Even though I've never seen a Karel Zeman film before, the museum did a great job building up the context. The exhibits show the process that Zeman uses to create his film effects and also shows the literary significance of his work. I'd highly recommend going here!

The museum is not very big and the entrance fee is almost high respect to the othe other museums such as prague echnical museum, also you have to pay fee for the taking photos. However, the 3d model was impressive and the technology via ring it was las nice.

Provides a comprehensive history of the city. If you do a brief reading at each exhibit you would probably spend about an hour. There is an admission fee. Only 3 stars because it made me less curious about Prague history than I originally was as the content on the reading panels was not very interesting and not chronologically curated as a whole. Wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit.

If you are planning a trip to Prague, you should start here. The small model of the city gives you a good way to visualise the different spots in the city, and how you could get there. Taking photo's is not allowed, unless you pay a fee. Students: price here is 60 kč a person, with public transport of 32 kč to get there, it is one of the cheapest places to go. Not discounted fees are 130 kč a person. Is it interesting? Yes, if you are interested in history. It starts with the archeology of Prague and the creation of the city, and continues with general medieval history and artefacts.

Great location but there simply isn't much too see there. The exhibitions are rather repetitive (identical ones can be found in other neighbouring countries), and I just wish the museum displayed distinctive things that'd be strictly indicative of Prague and the city's rich history.

The museum was quite nice although they maybe need to do some refurbishment in some rooms. I really liked the part about the start of Prague but I was disappointed to see that they stopped before our time. I was expecting to see every piece of the history of Prague. The staff of the museum was also very nice even though they did not speak English. They tried to explain us things and they really did everything to make our visit interesting. It was really nice of them!

Decent history museum. Mostly covers natural history from pre historic to the 1950s. Mostly centered around life in and around Prague. Pots, pans, articles of clothing, diet, etc. Decent size museum. Covers a good amount of space. Missing the development of the city and ownership of it over time.

(Translated by Google) I like this museum, but small but high quality permanent exhibitions and interesting exhibitions. I especially like the Langweil model of Prague, which I like to warn about. (Original) Tohle muzeum mám rád, malé ale ale kvalitní stálé expozice a zajímavé výstavy. Obzvlášť se mi líbí Langweilův model Prahy, k němu se rád varacím.

(Translated by Google) Langweil's model of Prague is amazing, with little light - there are two touch monitors with detailed information. In the dressing room on the ground floor you can put off your coats, on the top floor there is a barrel with drinking water and cups. (Original) Langweilův model Prahy je úžasný, jen je málo nasvicený - jsou tam dva dotykové monitory s podrobnými informacemi. V šatně v přízemí lze odložit kabáty, v posledním patře je barel s pitnou vodou a kelímky.

Very nice small private museum. Unlike, the other private museums that feel like tourist traps this one is not it. We enjoyed the detailed history of the movie making process for Karel Zeman. After we left we looked up a few of his movies and watched one that night. Very nice museum.

A fine museum about the history of Prague from pre-history to the 1700s. After you have read about Czech history, taken the tours, walked the the narrow streets, and gotten a feel for the terrain, you will want to see this museum. It nicely ties together the various cultural, religious, and historical themes of the city so that you will understand more clearly the forces that shaped this beautiful city.

Nice museum which cover Prague history from prehistory to now. First part of the exhibition seems to be have been renovated recently, and is great. The second part looks older and is not as great, I hope they'll be renovate it too. They don't speak about modern history, too bad. Staff is nice and try to explain things, but their english is limited so it's kind of hard to communicate.

The museum is small and underwhelming. It's not very welcoming, every exhibition room is behind closed doors(literally). It offers a history of the city of Prague but doesn't make it fun or interesting. The information is in Czech and English and is concise, I would say this is more of a locals museum or very interested tourists.

Great place to visit in Prague, museum is quite informative and fulfilled with blacksmiths' items starting from the very first cast metal, ending with incredibly complicated locks of XV-XVII century. Sometimes it'll take you a few minutes to understand (if you'd be able to) the principle of mechanism.

(Translated by Google) This manageable but very interesting museum is located in a fantastic building. Unfortunately, it is not barrier-free. The model of old Prague created by Antonín Langweil (1791-1837) fascinates every visitor and impresses with its size of 20 square meters. You can interactively view areas of the city on a monitor and learn more. I also really liked the special exhibition with photographs by Jovan Dezort. The staff is nice, the entry price is cheap and the guarded cloakroom is free. Visit!!! Besuchen!!!

(Translated by Google) A rather interesting museum about Prague until the 18th century, but after, there is nothing! Nothing about Prague in the nineteenth, nothing about its status as capital after the First World War, nothing about Prague and Nazism. Nothing about the communist era (the coup de Prague, the new neighborhoods of buildings, the metro, the aborted revolution of 1968?). A recent past that still divides maybe ... Nothing about Prague after the communist era, integrated in the heart of the EU and facing mass tourism ... A very incomplete museum so, and that's a shame ... :-( Ideal museum if you want to escape the crowds of tourists, as it is a museum with little traffic.

Small, interactive, interesting, worthy for the price. Wonderful experience not only for the children, but to anybody who loves cinema and willing to learn a bit about Czech audiovisual culture. This place is simply amazing and for sure I will visit it again next time în Prague. I felt like a kid at the science class, discovering all sort of machines, tehniques, and trying them. I also enjoyed the posibility of watching scenes from the movies, wich helped me to have a better image of every thing I've seen here.

Nice little museum with some interactive displays which the kids enjoyed. Interesting to learn about Karel Zeman, one of the Czech Republic's cinematic greats from the golden days of cinema

Realy good breakdowns of how the visual effects in some of Zeman's films where made with examples where you can try it yourself. Recommend for anyone interested in film above the age of 8. Although it is a bit expensive for what it is. I went through the entire museum in roughly 1,5 hours.

  • 5/5 Alexandra G. 4 years ago on Google
Fantastic small museum. My 11 and 13 year old were entranced by exhibits. They do a nice job of explaining and showing in short films, Zeman's different techniques and there are a series of video and photo opportunities where you can do it yourself on various props including a great green screen opportunity at the end where you can put yourself into clips from the original movies. We had a terrific time in part since it was such an unexpected activity in the middle of our trip to Prague. i just wish we could watch the movies now that we are home.

The Muzeum hlavního města Prahy is amazing to see so much history of Prague. The displays are very well displayed and explanation in Czech and English. The Langweil's Model of Prague is really fantastic and even more so that is was made between 1826 and 1837. Easy to get to from Metro station Florenc.

I loved this museum so much. I had a great experience. The entire staff is lovely, kind and helpful. Loved the 3D cardboard model of XVI century's Prague. The children's area is great!! Highly recommended.
