Don't spend your money, it's not worth it. The exhibition includes only a few machines and is so dark that they are not visible. Due to the darkness, it is impossible to read the information boards. And when I asked the clerk why it was so dark, she changed the good English to Czech and not a kind tone. I would not visit the place again, nor would I recommend it.

An awful excuse of a museum. I struggle to understand how this has received any positive reviews; too much beer maybe? It’s very small. Signage is non existent, or impossible to read. A torch is required- as many of the displays aren’t lighted. Even the lady running the museum seemed surprised we wanted to see it. I include several pictures of what you will actually see - a whole lot of nothing. Note- I had to remove several pictures (essentially a blacked-out picture of rooms without any lights) as it somehow broke Google’s rules (ludicrous!).

Fun museum with various devices on show and with them utilized in various exhibits with dummies. Takes approx 30+ minutes to get round. However as the rooms are dark, some wee hard to see / read any information plaques.

The paid part of the museum is located underground, so it has a proper climate. It was scary and interesting at the same time. In the background there are agony sounds from games like Gothic and they repeat really often, what can be irritating to some. The pile exposition wasn't working during my visit.

Very intriguing but dark place. Many exhibits and descriptions of torture. The sounds of the victims' suffering create a specific atmosphere of the Middle Ages. It's quite dark in the dungeons, but you can use the flashlight on your phone. Only the cashier lady should occasionally smile because she looks like a character from part of the exhibition.

The ticket price is 200 kc for adults and the children has a discount but I will recommend to don t go there with children. It was interesting and a little scary but I liked it and the price is so high because the museum has a unique theme - the torture. Every instrument has a description and some explainations.

Hyvä sijainti, helppo löytää paikan päälle. 8€ sisäänpääsy mikä ei ole paha hinta. Laaja kokoelma erilaisia välineitä ka kuvia. Löytyi suomenkielellä kertomukset jokaisen välineen kohdalla.

I recommend to take the combo ticket for 12 euros from wax museum. It’s a bit small but you if you read the story’s of the exhibits it will be better.

The museum is up to date and even though it is not very big and takes 30-60 minutes to walk through, it is a good museum. Sometimes you have the feeling that someone will scare you. I really liked everything!

It takes literally 5 minutes to walk through it (even fully reading all the descriptions), and it’s mostly just a dark dingy area with some mannequins. Waste of money and a bit of a scam if you ask me. Not a proper museum.

The museum was a bit small, no proper lighting, although they tried to achieve a certain vibe for the exhibition, it was difficult to see the exhibition or read what was written. A bit disappointing but would be interesting and worth the price if you could read the information. Also no toilets. Student discount until the age of 26 (26 not included).

This could have been so much better. Start is great, first few rooms are great, good light, morbid torture devices and really cool descriptions. But it is like they just lost interest along the way, first descriptions are gone one by one, in last few rooms there are no any descriptions at all, just mannequins in cages. And the worst thing is lighting. You can find some descriptions by accident in the dark corner there is no light so you cant read it without flash from mobile phone. Just like with descriptions the longer you walk the darker it gets. You can see there are lights on the wall but they just dont work. Its like no one did any maintenance there in few months and bulbs are fried. Last mannequin is just in dark black hole without any light. Again you need flash from mobile phone to even see it. Wouldnt be surprised if many people didnt even see half of the exhibits in the end. Because few people that were in front of us just walked by them without stopping and checking dark corners and holes.

A strange museum featuring different methods of torture used in the “old days”, relatively inexpensive cost wise. Not a massive museum and fairly quick to get around. You can purchase a ticket to get into this museum or a joint ticket for Madame Tussaud’s which is nearby.

Great museum, very atmospheric, good value for money and the displays and dioramas were quite well thought out. If you like reading the displays rather than quickly walking around then this is a great thing to do

I wasn't very impressed with this museum yes it had all the torture instruments but not very interactive or spooky at all. It is well overpriced for what you get for your money. It. Has got potential if customers were allowed to be part of the torture and interact with it. My advice don't waste your money get some chocolate instead.

3,5 stars from me. Good experience for those who do not know much about the history of torture. The idea of putting the exhibition to a dark cellar is great, but it is too dark sometimes, and more explaining texts should be hanged (haha), e.g. nothing was written about the Judas Cradle. All in all, worth the 160 czk.

Very small museum, only 1 floor. Quite different and interesting compared to other museums, however, it's so dark in there you can barely read and of the info provided. I understand they are trying to create an atmosphere, but no point if the info provided cannot be read! We went through in about 15 mins, not worth the ticket price of 160kcr.

Tourist trap. Don’t go. I was reading the reviews on Google and thought … nah they are just over critical. This was the most expensive 5 minutes I’ve paid for the whole holiday. You arrive in a semi interesting room that shows some devices used in history, with printed out articles.. fair enough. This lasts around 1 minute .. then from this point onwards you walk through a few corridors of almost darkness, with no context of bad Mannequins in different positions, no text nothing.. this means nothing.. the exit is conveniently away from any staff members (I assume to make it harder for you to complain about the museum). Do not go here, I’d recommend elsewhere, such as the Police Museum that was genuinely interesting. Tourist trap and it cost £6.

I think the museum is super. The setting is terrifying, it's scary, especially if you go alone and there are no people in the museum, as it happened to me. The information is very detailed and impressive, it was a very intense experience.

  • 4/5 Adam-James l. 4 months ago on Google • 16 reviews
It was an interesting little museum with a lot of work put into the displays and lots of information on the various devices. The only reason I’m not giving it a 5 star is because of lack of interactivity or motion in the exhibits. Other museums in the area are focussing on this aspect and it feels like the torture museum could revamp a few exhibits to modernise it a little. Nevertheless, a great experience with some quirky instruments on display.

Closing hour for this place is a lie. I went there just 15 minutes ago (21.20). And The door was closed. I feel really upset. You can't give wrong information about a museum's hours

(Translated by Google) We always like to visit the torture museum wherever we are in the world, and Prague was no exception. So we decided to go in. And like everyone else, they generally share the same exhibits and this one in particular had a pair that others didn't. The museum was very small compared to other torture museums but very well organized. Also, the entrances were very accessible. (Translated by Google) A few steps from Old Town Square, at the eastern end of Prague's Charles Bridge, is a three-story museum where medieval instruments of torture are preserved. The Torture Museum houses over 60 instruments of torture; walking through the spaces you will find gruesome objects such as the Virgin of Nuremberg, the rack, the Catalan garrote and many other tools used to torture or kill heretics, witches and subversives. Each instrument is accompanied by medieval-style comics that illustrate its use, as well as detailed explanations on its operation in eight different languages.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful reminder of how resourceful people are when they try to hurt others. Three floors with tools and their label. There are better known and lesser known means of the law of suffering. What did I like? Above all, the diversity and also the fact that one learns something new. I don't encounter this topic much in a regular museum, so another plus. On the contrary, what I deduct points for is the Prague (higher) entrance fee. What disturbed me the most, however, were the already mentioned labels. So rather their disunity. Some write everything about the tool and elsewhere there is only history and the principle of operation is missing, somewhere there is an external characteristic and there is no history. In conclusion, I would just add that the museum deserves some advertising or a banner, because if I did not come across it by chance, I would not even notice it.

(Translated by Google) Small but nice! For an entrance fee of the equivalent of € 4 (per person with a family ticket in the Madametussaud combination) you can't complain. The tour is beautiful and lavishly designed and adds a little bit of horror to the torture theme. The descriptions for the individual devices are even among others written in German and therefore offer the best insight into the gruesome events from back then (not for the faint of heart!). The attraction should have been allowed to continue, but this is not a point of criticism for this price! Highly recommended! Sehr empfehlenswert!

(Translated by Google) Quite reasonably priced museum with replicas of medieval torture tools. There are multilingual explanatory boards for the exhibits, as well as some prints and pictures on the subject. This is probably a little too scary for small children, since these pictures often show how the instruments were used. Sometimes an uncritical handling of the exhibits, so there is an uncommented "Iron Maiden" to be seen, although such was never used in this form in torture. Since you go over the Charles Bridge anyway, when you are in Prague, you can go there If you are interested in horror stories, take a look, it takes about 1 hour to visit.

If you've never been to a torture museum it should be OK if you visit this one, because you see some of the instruments and methods used to induce human suffering. However some methods only have a wall picture without an explanation or an attached device, while the museum is quite short so you don't get much for your money.

(Translated by Google) Exhibition too short, even for the relatively low price. It is a pity that the information was often so attached that it could hardly be read. In general, this exhibition does not deserve the name "museum".

(Translated by Google) Introduction, there are 2 torture museums in prague, this in my opinion is much more suggestive, more well cared for and much more beautiful than the other. You will descend below a catacombs-style dungeon with horror music in the background. Various torture instruments are exhibited (real or even reproductions) with staging or without. Quite detailed explanations next to each instrument (also in Italian). Who likes the theme, the atmosphere is really very suggestive and also a lot of fun I definitely recommend it. I can make a single ticket between this museum and that of the waxes (madame trousseau) a little further away in the same street at the price of 13 euros for students (Original) Premessa, vi sono 2 musei di tortura a praga, questo a mio avviso è molto più suggestivo, più ben curato e molto più bello dell'altro.

(Translated by Google) Basically a museum that you can visit. If you have never dealt with the subject of torture, it is definitely exciting and educational. But if you've been to other museums like this, you won't see anything new here. You have to read the descriptions in any case (English, German, Czech), otherwise you are through quickly and hardly take anything with you.

(Translated by Google) More interesting than the name seemed. But quite expensive for it to go through 30 minutes. Witch burning still hear the screaming.

Small museum, little upset for the price. Some good information but not much.

  • 1/5 Jordan F. 4 years ago on Google
Not a friendly staff, not accessible (all stairs and the exit was a revolving door), very lazy with sound effects (the same short fake annoying screams over and over again), sculptures and exhibits with literally zero posters for information it just seemed like a gross haunted house, not impressed

If you want a break from the city and just look at objects this place is okay. An art museum would probably be more interesting and informative. The exhibitions here are a bit repetitive, and not represented in a very creative way.

  • 4/5 Krista S. 4 years ago on Google
It is a quick place to visit, but very interesting. Horrified to see what people can imagine to hurt other people. In good location, u probably walk near if u go see main sightseeings.

  • 3/5 Casey 5 years ago on Google
A weird place that's for sure. Small with not many devices, more pictures on the wall than anything. Also expensive for what you get.

  • 4/5 Nanuli M. 4 years ago on Google
Very interesting experience for almost everyone, quite graphic though, so maybe not for children or for faint of heart... But those of us who want to know more about 'underground history' and the dark side of humankind, I highly recommend! Only problems were the size, the collection is quite small for the inside fee and you can only pay by cash.

  • 4/5 Keith K. 2 years ago on Google
Fantastic experience and not tok expensive! The only issue is that it is quite a short experience so it's over before you know it! Still well worth the cost of admission

  • 1/5 Dana A. 2 years ago on Google
The underground smells bad and they didn't have enough things to show like the other Museums. I don't recommend it

  • 4/5 Melinda H. 2 years ago on Google
This was a fun attraction to see but a lot of reading which was time consuming with little kids. We got to see this place as part of a package deal with the other wax museum.

  • 2/5 Roni N. 2 years ago on Google
Expected way more. Small exhibition with not that much to see.

  • 4/5 michał k. 2 years ago on Google
Good but not great. Place with potential but defintly to dark. I umderstand "climate", but it woild be grat to be able to read poctires and artefacts descriptions.

  • 1/5 Victoria T. 2 years ago on Google
It was 160 CZK per person for entry. Took about 5 minutes to go around the entire museum. Not much to see and not much detail. It is not about anything particularly Czech it is just about international torture methods with a few exhibits to look at. Waste of money.

  • 4/5 Jinal P. 1 year ago on Google
If you are looking for something different to visit in Prague, then go for the torture museum and it's not that expensive, so give it a shot. However, it is not big museum and hardly takes 25-30 minutes to finish.

  • 4/5 Gil R. 1 year ago on Google
Well, it's a small museum. Time spent was about 20 minutes. The experience was quite anticlimactic, but the ticket was cheap. If you're looking for something to do in the old city, go for it.

It's just ok. There are some interesting aspects, but it definitely could use some maintenance.

  • 3/5 Ian G. 2 years ago on Google
Good amount of exhibits and detailed descriptions. The whole walk through is kind of short though. The writing explaining each piece is crazy small though, and tough to read. All in all, about worth the money, but go with a group of friends to have a laugh.

  • 4/5 Andy 1 year ago on Google
Small but interesting museum. One remark is that it is pretty dark and sometimes, the signs are very difficult to read because of this.

  • 5/5 Stefan H. 1 year ago on Google
A very nice, atmospheric Museum. Not too expensive, it's worth the money. Kids may find it a little scary. You get to see a lot of different, medieval torture Instruments.

  • 5/5 Sherelin P. 1 year ago on Google
So cool, dark and interesting. Some of the instruments can also be seen in Prague castle, in a more authentic/boring vibe. Not a lot special here A lot of witch hunting, burning, etc

  • 3/5 Lucas S. 10 months ago on Google
I got a student discount, so I only paid 100 crowns. Otherwise, the price here is a bit steep for what it provides. Some cool visuals and interesting devices, but despite the vast space this museum occupies, much of the museum consists of exhibits where mannequins are being tortured. Some interesting information can be gleaned from the exhibits, but I'd say that this museum shouldn't be a priority when visiting Prague. For the novelty and interesting nature of it, I would recommend it, but they have a lot of room to improve.

Someone referred to this place as a bad high school project. Really couldn't have said it better. It's do dark we had to use the cellphone camera to see and read things. In most places there is just a piece of paper taped to the wall to "explain" something. And the font size of the descriptions is about 10. I had high hopes that people were exaggerating on previous reviews. They were not. Save yourself and just stare at a wall in the dark instead. It's cheaper.

  • 4/5 Leni R. 1 year ago on Google
The stay was informative, the related texts were posted in several languages. The museum is not as big as I thought and rather a bit like a ghost train. Furthermore, it was very dark, which is why we sometimes needed our cell phone flashlights. Nevertheless, the exhibition was vividly presented and I could learn a lot. Especially positive I noticed the man at the cash desk, he was really friendly, advised us well and even knew German!

The place was interesting enough, the information was translated in 4 languages which was helpful however the displays weren’t very interactive and the wax works looked very dusty/worn also parts of the wall were crumbling away, just not very well looked after. Overall was an informative experience and cheap as well.
