Vitkov Hill is a good place to visit and view all over Prague from. This big statue, the third largest bronze rider statue in the world. It can be seen from many places around Prague. You can walk all the way to the hill, if you are a bit sportive, or can get there by car. There is a nice park with many benches to sit, relax and watch the view.

I highly recommend going on the viewing platform. The entrance is around 4€ for adult, 2,5€ for student. The place is not recognized by tourists at all. When it is sunny you can enjoy a mesmerizing view on the whole Prague. It is easy reachiable by public transport but still you need to walk roughly 20 minutes uphill. It is worth to visit.

Definitely worth visiting, seemingly exceeding my expectations. Interesting history of the monument. As bonus, great view on Prague and low entrance fee. Became one of the most memorable places from my trip to Prague.

(Translated by Google) The historical atmosphere breathes here on me ... It was on the hill of Vítek's Hussite army under the leadership of Jan Žižka repulsed the attack of the crusader army gathered by Sigismund of Luxembourg (July 14, 1420). It is a place to honor the memory of Czechoslovak legionnaires and the resistance during the First World War. Today, the memorial houses the remains of an unknown soldier from the Battle of Zborov and the Dukel operation. Honor their memory. Let the mausoleum of Clement Gottwald be forgotten.

Consider to check out the National Memorial on Vítkov. This towering monument is located on a hill with the same name and offers a unique combination of history and stunning views that you won't find anywhere else in the city. One of the best parts about visiting the National Memorial is the interactive and educational exhibitions inside. They're so cool and engaging, you'll forget you're even learning. The exhibitions provide a fascinating look into the history of Czechoslovakia and the role it played in World War I. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours, especially if you're a history buff.

This is without a doubt my favorite view point of prague. And its also the cheapest too. For some reason this isn't as well known as the others, but even on a hazy day you can see for miles. Entrance for Just the view point was around just €3, and it's absolutely worth it.

The memorial complex in Vítkov was built in 1929-38 in honor of Czechoslovak legionaries. The modernist classicizing building was designed by Jan Zázvorka. During the occupation of 1939-1945, it served as a warehouse for military material. After 1945, it was misused to promote the regime (Gottwald's mausoleum), today you will find a museum of modern history with a multimedia exhibition called Crossroads of Czech and Czechoslovak Statehood. The equestrian statue of Jan Žižka is the work of Bohumil Kafka and was ceremoniously unveiled on July 14, 1950. The sculptural group of assembled bronze parts, cast separately in the foundry of V. Mašek in Karlín, is one of the largest equestrian statues in the world. It reaches over 9 meters in height, is about 5 meters wide and less than 10 meters long. The total weight is 16.2 tons. The hollow interior is accessible in the back of the horse through a mounting hole.

Long and steep hike up to this place, be prepared! There is also an observation deck. It was 92° the day we went so it was way to hot to go up. It was too hot to even go to this monument but we were invested in going!

I found that it’s a lil bit out of the way. Also, the view from the top wasn’t as fantastic as I was expecting. If you have a couple spare hours go for it I suppose, you can just chill around as it is surrounded by a park. Be prepared though, it’s a hell of a way up, both walking and stairs.

National monument with one of the world's largest rider statues. This sacred place of Czech statehood combines memorial place, museum (including the exposition of President Gottwald's former mausoleum) and an accessible platform on the roof with spectacular views of Prague. Absolutely worth to visit.

If you want to have a wonderful view of Prague, definitely visit this Memorial. Not only you learn a bit about the Czech history, but you will also have breathtaking views from the terrace. Plus, there is also a Cafe Vitkov (cash only), which offers great selection of coffee as well as drinks. The place is definitely worth visiting!

This is a great site with great views of the whole magnificent Prague. It is quiet, peaceful and just beautiful. Here you can relax and breathe clean air. On this famous and historic Vitkov hill Here you will find the famous National Monument on Vítkov which includes the third largest bronze equestrian statue in the world, of Jan Žižka (famous general, Hussite military leader). Love this place.

I got experience the history of the Czech Republik in a sombre way, Here i learnt about the heroes and heroins that contributed to the progress and Reform in this country. The role and work of women and children born out of wedlock who latter on went to lead the country are documented here. -there is also a Mausoleum for one of the fallen sons of the Nation. The staff is very warm and friendly.

A beautiful memorial high above the city. The views are restricted by trees, so winter is best and if possible find if the monument is open (it wasn’t for me). The climb from Florenc is good cardio. I had a misty day but I wouldn’t have missed my opportunity to see this National Landmark

Finding a way up can be tricky if you don't know Prague, but it is worth the visit and going inside the museum. Museum ticket was about $5 USD. The inside of the museum is mostly focused towards 20th century history of the Czechoslovakia from 1918 to 1989. There are also stairs to the top of the monument, from where you can see all of Prague. This alone is worth the ticket price. There is also a cafe inside the museum but they only accept cash, no card.

the words in the perma exibition are extreamely in lack of museological neutrality and preciseness, but full of sensationlization. You cant condemn the darkness of propaganda era by committing another propaganda. That being said, this itself is a vivid example how much communism regime had harmed a civilazation, that even wont fade away 30 yeas after its fall.

Walking around Zizkov District is something I always love doing on any trip to Prague I take, Finding a way up can be tricky if you don't know Prague (there was construction happening when I went), but it is worth the visit overlooking the wonderful district, and this giant equestrian statue in honour of Jan Zizka who defeated the Catholic forces lead by Sigismund in the Battle Of Vitkov Hill in 1420, well detailed statue constructed between 1928-1938, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the Zizkov District and hard to miss, its a big statue.

A hidden gem. In the many years I have been coming to Prague, I never knew this place existed. It was purely by chance on a tram ride, I spotted the memorial in the distance and my curiosity got the better of me. Well worth the effort to make the journey there and walk up the very steep hill through the park. The plus was the roof top cafe / bar which was an unexpected suprise and such a lovely spot. I recommend you add this to your list when in Prague.

Surprisingly good after finding it quite difficult to find and a long walk up hill. It was worth it though. Real feeling of recent historical past. Eastern Europe and the Iron Curtain unique architecture and psychology. The museum was really good and I loved the skill in the Mausoleum and the idiosyncrasies. The history of Prague is here . Superb

You have to visit this place if you happen to be in prague. This is one important part if the history of the nation and the city and you may understand everything somehow better. The sculptor is the third biggest bronze rider sculpture in the world. The view towards the city is amazing and I would suggest visiting either early morning hours or late afternoon hours for better shades of photography and a pleasant temperature. Unless you are visiting during the winter....

Some rarely mentioned yet deserving respect place in Prague. A little steep hill but rewarded with a great view towards the city and if you go also to the museum and the terrace upstairs the view is even better. Probably a good place for sunrise or sunset. However there seems to be a problem regarding flies. There is SO MANY of them upstairs I felt attacked. Had to take off my clothes because they were everywhere - like a swarm. Could not stay up more than 30 seconds and had to rush back to the building. Be wary. The undergrounds on the other hand were like a horror movie set 😑

Most of the reviewers only describe the monument to Jan Žižka, but not the museum in the national monument building, which is a bit sad, because the museum is fantastic. The National monument museum has a great exhibition of the Czech and Slovak uprising during the latter stages of the Second World War. If you're visiting the monument and interested in history, I recommend visiting the museum. The museum also covers Czech and Slovak history from the beginning of the 20th century to the end of the Velvet Revolution. There's also a shrine tomb (or shrine) to Czech and Slovak heroes. As for the monument to Jan Žižka, this is a huge equestrian statue. It's hard to believe just how large it is until you see it in person. It's absolutely worth the (difficult) climb up the hill just to see this monument alone.

Fascinating glimpse at Czech history and national character. It charts the social history of Czechoslovakia and the impacts of wars and communism. Impressive brutalist art and architecture - all in wonderful condition and clearly monument of great pride for the locals. Mostly in Czech, but with enough English to get by. Ask for an English guide when you buy your ticket - it’s not comprehensive but it helps explain the history of the building. Stunning views of Prague from the roof.
