(Translated by Google) A worthy place among Prague museums, an exhibition, dedicated to the famous Czech composer, pianist and conductor B. Smetana. His symphonic poem "Vltava", rightfully called the second unofficial anthem of the Czech Republic. The museum in 1926, found refuge in the building of the former water tower (interesting decision). 4 sections of the museum introduce the life and work of the Czech composer. And in front of the building, there is a monument to the Czech "music wizard".

Very small museum of only one floor. All the exhibits were high quality. Probably need to be a fan of Bedrich Smetana or have a knowledgeable about opera and classical music. They do hand out guides in many languages including Chinese, German and English, but all the major items have at least an English exhibit label. I visited as part of the National Museum combined ticket, otherwise I’d probably not have visited.

We had been to the Dvorak museum the previous day, which was very interesting and well presented. The Smetena Museum, which is managed by the same musical organisation, was by contrast totally uninspiring and, to be honest, a waste of a fine building. The staff were also completely uninterested in the material and the visitors. It isn't expensive to get in but, I wouldn't recommend it. Very, very disappointing. Do go to the Dvorak Museum, however. It's a little out from the centre but worth the walk. After writing this review and reading other bad reviews I couldn't help wondering why this place had such a high star rating. I've looked at many of the previous reviews that (surprisingly to me) awarded 5 stars and noticed that they are mostly by people described as Local Guide. It seems there is a bit of manipulation going on here!!!!

Really interesting museum, mainly suitable for musicians and music lovers. It's difficult to appreciate for those unfamiliar with classical music and Smetana's work.

As you cross over Charles Bridge you will not miss this beautiful museum that is dedicated to the life and works of famous Czech composer Bedřich Smetana Exhibits include copies of letters, photographs and newspaper cuttings relating to Smetana’s life as well as various personal possessions. There are also folders on music stands which contain material about some of Smetana’s most famous works.

Best place to enjoy Prague. Listening to Smetana’s music while looking at the river was something I could never forget. Two ladies working there were very gentle and elegant. Spending time there led me understand how they could be so graceful.

Expensive ticket for a tiny museum with 3 really historical objects. The rest of the jewelry displayed are just replica, the same ones they are selling in the shop area. Really disappointing. You pay a lot of money for almost seeing nothing.

We love culture, and know a bit of classical music, we know the music of Smetana, so it was kind of interesting. But you should not visit this if you are not into classical music as it is rather pricey for the small place. The outer side of the building is more interesting, but worth a visit if you want to learn more about the Czech composer.

Nice place. Museum staff spoke in detail about the Czech garnet and its features. We got a lot of new interesting information. The pearl of the museum is a collection of Czech pomegranate jewelry. Also here you can purchase various modern Czech garnet jewelry for yourself or as a gift. And it will be a real Czech garnet, and not a fake, which are full around and which are sold to most tourists. In general - an interesting place where attentive and friendly employees work, you can learn something new and purchase a unique souvenir from the Czech Republic.

I enjoyed this museum today. It is fairly small but would be interesting to anyone who enjoys gemstones or garnets in particular or a rock or mineral collecting. You can pick out a small stone to keep is a souvenir and they also had some very nice garnet jewelry that reasonable prices. They know that many of the places locally are not selling real garnet so buyer beware. If you're thinking of buying garnet jewelry I would probably definitely go here. Important note that the entrance to this museum is off Karlova Street and not off Anenska that Google maps shows you. You have to go around the block and enter from the opposite street which is Karlova

Great experience and definitely worth a visit! It‘s a direct contrast to the busy Karlova street, quiet and actually tasteful. The exhibition was a bit small, but very informative and with beautifully chosen pieces. You also learn to distrust almost all of the tourist area jewelry shops😅 My personal highlight was the lovely staff who were great conversation and very attentive and helpful with my requests. They greatly inspired my choice of purchase in the shop. I would highly recommend searching here for an authentic piece of Czech garnet jewelry. (Although sometimes I had to force myself to look at the jewelry and not the person showing it to me😂)

(Translated by Google) Small but fine museum about grenades, and especially the Roman garnet. The museum is relatively small, but explains very well the peculiarities of the Bohemian garnet (on Mg basis) in comparison to the usual, worldwide available grenades (Almandine) based on iron. In addition, very beautiful old exhibits are on display. To our surprise we were the only visitors despite the dense tourist flow. For us as part of the tour great, but the museum deserves far more visitors. Clear recommendation on such a rainy day as today.

The curator is very helpful and brings a lot of other attractions. All I missed was a wooden tourist stamp, and I think the museum should have it. An interesting museum. But lacks of dimension. The collection is very small and disappointing. The advertising is speaking of a big and unique, but in reality there are stores which have a much more collection of jewelry. The presentation of the extraction of the Granat stone is not so detailed and could offer more details and also physical tools. The price not reflect the exhibition and would not recommend. The few jewels which are exposed is beauty but it looks like someone just threw there. I believe a massive change of the exponent and presentation could produce a bigger impact on visitors.

Quite a small museum, but charming. At the entry you are given an information file in which you can read about his life and career. In the pink room, you must stand at the conductor's podium and use the baton to activate several pieces of music. It is purely magic how the music fills the room. Begin with "My country". The entry fee is modest, 2 euros, but so is the musem. Remember: look out the windows!

(Translated by Google) The museum is boring. The fact is that this is a building of the former water station, and not the composer's house at all. Many documents. Of the really interesting things is the composer's piano and the ability to listen to fragments of his works in a rather original way. For connoisseurs of classical music I recommend.

(Translated by Google) Excellent place to relax from tourists. When we stepped in, time stopped. The guards are also pleasant guides who know a lot about the museum about Bedřich Smetana!

Very small collection of only one floor accompanied by a guide in several languages. Everything here available on Wikipedia etc. I feel the experience is not worth the time and money if you are not a die hard Smetana fan. The Dvorak museum was much more interesting and had more items related to the man

(Translated by Google) The Bedřich Smetana Museum is housed in a beautiful Neo-Renaissance building of the former Old Town Waterworks from the 1980s on Novotný lávka. The premises of the museum are divided into four parts. The first is dedicated to Smetana's childhood, studies and artistic beginnings in Prague and Gothenburg. The second part captures Smetana's activities in the years 1862-1874, by which he played a significant role in building Prague's musical life (eg working in some artistic associations or renewing the tradition of philharmonic concerts). The third part deals with the last period of Smetana's life, when he lived and worked outside Prague after being deaf. Copies from Smetana's correspondence, diaries and music manuscripts are also on display. In the originals, there are portraits of Smetana and other family members, some of his personal monuments, including a piano. During the whole tour, we had a guide who had quite an engaging explanation, and I learned many new interesting things. The big positive is also that the visit here does not last too long and that is why even adolescent schoolchildren will survive it in good health.

I was unfortunately very disappointed. The "museum" is an incoherent collection of mostly pictures of people and documents without a strong red line or many explanations. The location, however, is most beautiful.

In honor of Smetana's achievements, he retains his spirit. You can experience good music in a good place. It was a cultural space to learn from. However, the admission fee is questionable. The ticket says 30kc, but we received 50kc each. There are improvements to be made in this part.
