(Translated by Google) There are various ways to reach Prague Castle but I recommend you take the tram 22/23 and get off at PRAZSKY HRAD: in this way you will not find too many lines and you will not have to go up or down stairs! I went at 10:20 and there were only two people in front of me! You will arrive at the courtyard where you can buy tickets at the info points. I recommend circuit B (there is information in Italian) which includes the cathedral of San Vito, the ancient royal palace, basilica of San Giorgio, Golden Lane and Daliborka tower. The cathedral is the one that deserves the most! Up to a certain point you can enter for free. Each attraction has turnstiles, where you can scan your ticket. Golden Lane is also worth a visit, but it is a very narrow space so you can enjoy more when there are fewer people. After visiting the Daliborka tower, exit and go to the terrace. We wanted to see the changing of the guards in Hradcany Square so we went back (from the terrace make the climb, and arrive next to the basilica of San Giorgio). From Hradcany Square we went down the stairs and continued our visit to the Malostranske district!

The place is under renovation and the crowd is very high. Long waiting lines for almost 2 hours. If you don’t have the tickets purchased earlier it can be a lot difficult to get inside. Recommended to buy tickets earlier. Overall the views from above is breathtaking and worth the hike

Not recommended. The exhibition is average and there’s a very rude female staff at the entrance who refuse to let me use the bathroom here even though I paid for a valid ticket to this permanent exhibition

(Translated by Google) Prague Castle (in the Czech language Pražský hrad) is a fortified complex located in the Czech capital dating back to the 9th century, since 1918 official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. [1] Prague Castle stands on one of the nine hills on which the Czech capital develops. It was the first inhabited nucleus of the city. With an area of almost 70,000 square meters, it is the largest single-body castle in the world. [2] The area surrounding the castle is called Hradčany, or the Castle district. It originally consisted of wooden buildings and fortifications; the first stone building to be built (884 AD) was the church of the Virgin, built at the behest of the first Christian prince of Bohemia: Borivoj I. Of this building today only the foundations remain. In Romanesque times the convent and basilica of San Giorgio, the Royal Palace, the fortifications and masonry towers were built and, more importantly, San Wenceslaus erected the rotunda containing the remains of San Vito (dedicated to him), the city cathedral. The rotunda was replaced by a basilica with two apses a few centuries later. During the Gothic period, Emperor Charles IV ordered the construction of a new, grand Gothic cathedral to replace the Romanesque basilica. Construction began in 1344 and it was first worked by the French Mathieu d'Arras, then the German Peter Parler and his children. The construction was interrupted due to the Hussite wars at the beginning of the 15th century and was only completed between 1871 and 1929. The rebuilding of the Royal Palace also dates back to the Gothic period, with the creation of the marvelous Vladislao Hall. The protagonists of the Prague Renaissance were the sovereigns Ferdinand I of Habsburg, who built the Belvedere Palace and the related Italian gardens, and especially Rudolf II of Habsburg, who transferred his court from Vienna to Prague and made it one of the more refined, rich and renowned in the European continent. He summoned European intellectuals, alchemists and artists to the castle, to whom he commissioned more than 4000 works for his collections. These were unfortunately dispersed in the following centuries. In the Renaissance period the Lobkowicz Palace and the Rozmberk Palace were built, known today as the Institute of Noblewomen. Other significant changes were made in the second half of the eighteenth century, when the empress Maria Teresa unified the buildings overlooking the three courtyards of the complex giving them a uniform and imposing appearance. In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the castle, like the city, experienced a period of rebirth: the Cathedral of San Vito was completed, the various buildings that make it up were restored and it was given its current plan thanks to the work of the Slovenian Jože Plečnik. Only the monuments of Circuit B will be open from 11 March 2020 (Ancient Royal Palace including the Vladislav Room, the Basilica of San Giorgio, the Via d'oro and the Cathedral of San Vito). The Great South Tower of the cathedral will also remain open. Furthermore, the exhibition Portét v Čechách (Czech portraits over two centuries) will be opened. Other monuments and permanent exhibitions (Treasure of St. Vitus Cathedral, History of Prague Castle and Rosenberg Palace) will be closed until further notice.

The Story of Prague Castle is the name of a permanent exhibition that was opened in 2004 in the Gothic floor of the Old Royal Palace at Prague Castle. The permanent exhibition will introduce you to the thousand-year history of Prague Castle as a place where the history of Czech statehood was formed. It also tries to capture everyday life at Prague Castle and focuses not only on Czech rulers and presidents, but also on other ordinary inhabitants of the castle. The exhibition features original monuments from the castle's collections, including archaeological exhibits - all exhibits are accompanied by texts on panels and detailed description in both Czech and English. The top adornment of the collections is the armor and helmet of St. Wenceslas from the 10th century, which comes from the St. Vitus Cathedral treasure.

Probably the best stop in the whole complex. The museum contains extensive descriptions of the castle's history - which mirrors that of Prague's history - alongside a large range of artifacts, some of which are very interesting to look and read about. Be sure to check out the early-midevil skeletons!

One of the room guards did not allow me to take pictures with a mobile phone, and he asked me for a ticket to take a picture. Before I asked in the ticket office, they said I don't need to pay if I use mobile, only cameras. How could it be possible that their staff said the opposite? I am really disappointed.
