A little difficult to find the entry of the Czech Gothic Pearl the Convent of St. Agnes of Bohemia. The entry is of the other side opposite the Building of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Convent Gothic building is also large complex and that I needed walk around the building get into through the entry inside. First stop is the souvenir shop of the National Gallery which is the provider of this buildings and the shop has a good products such copies of art pictures for very cheap prices. I framed couple of them and look nice on my house walls. Regards the Convent is date back to 1260 and you feel the atmosphere of the past. Large rooms with high ceilings in Gothic structure were visible and remain centuries the same. The access was open no barriers walk inside around which was good touch and then on second floor is the Art Exhibition which is a unique Art pictures exhibition. I would say one of the best in Prague. In this review, although I attach only the Gothic Convent building photographs from ground floor inside and outside of the building.

When in Prague, an absolute MUST, and strongly recommended is a visit at the splendid Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia Museum (division of the National Gallery, entrances: Na Františku Street or Anežská Street). The collection of medieval art is breathtaking.

The Agnes monastery is one of the most important Gothic buildings in Prague. It was founded in the thirties of the 13th century by the Přemyslid princess of St. Anežka Česká together with his brother, King Václav I The tour circuit maps the history of individual parts of the uniquely preserved ground plan of a medieval monastery. All the distinguished spaces, including the Oratory of St. Agnieszky, Sanctuary of the Salvator and the Church of Sts. Frantisek with the Place of Remembrance of King Wenceslas I

Overlooked and under appreciated historical sight!! The artwork here is amazing! Of course it is all religious but the colors are so vibrant. Truly an amazing experience and so glad we stumbled upon it. Easily spent 2hrs just walking the convent and taking all the artwork in. The curator should be commended for the display and arrangement.

Beautiful building and Art collection. Unfortunately, while I was visiting the art collection, a member of the staff kept staring at and following me. She was clearly annoyed because she wanted me to finish the visit immediately, even though It was 17.30 and the building closes at 18.00. This rude behaviour Is really off-putting and It ruins the overall experience.

Fantastic collection of gothic art. Beautiful example of early gothic architecture. Excellent museography, which enhances the beauty of the works and the architecture. I definitely recommend to visit this place if you are interested in christian history and art.

Quiet spot in the middle of the busy Jewish neighborhood of Prague. The gallery inside requires an entrance fee but the statuegarden outside is free to visit. It has a small cafe where you can enjoy the silence of an old convent yard

A great museum of medieval art from central Europe. The museum is in the convent of St Agnes, which is quite an impressive building in its own right. The collection is composed mostly of church art, with Madonnas abounding. The museum is arranged in mostly chronological order, with the later artworks towards the end. While the museum is very impressive, the repetition of the subject matter can become difficult on the senses, so anyone who is not into church art in at least some sense should probably check some of the other museums.

The bigest collection of medieval art in Prague. Extremly rich. The convent building as been well restored. Magestic. Don't miss the garden, with few contemporary scultpures. You Can use the pass from narodni gallery of Prague (unlimited acces to the musuems from NG) as i do or buy a ticket straightly in the museum. There is also a shop with books a d goodies.

Collection is beautiful and truly extraordinary and worth recommending. The approach of the staff, on the other hand, is from the previous age. One, red hair lady, 19 min. before the museum closure ordered us to finish visit at once. When I have remind her that museum closes in almost 20 min she kept saying "you need to finish right now". Further visit it this atmosphere was obviously pointless. I believe that this behavior of the staff towards guests is completely unacceptable.

Number one on the list of must-see places to visit in Prague. A delightful place steeped in the atmosphere of the real Middle Ages. A unique collection of paintings and sculptures that have no analogues in the world. Particularly amazing atmosphere in the empty church.

A very very pleasant experience and a must see if you like medieval art, history or architecture. The monastery is very calm and parts a well transformed into space for the exhibition. The number and beauty of all the paintings and sculptures is astounding. The staff is very nice. The Caffè inside is a not that special nor too good but at least has a very nice and calm location.

Most thoughtful and complete collection of Central European Medieval art I have seen. Dramatic presentation. Czech and English descriptions - many could be a bit more flushed out wrt symbolism given the importance of this collection.

Amazing medieval monastery which serves as a part of the National Gallery (medieval art). Altarpieces, statues, paintings and even some medieval stained glass windows. Two beautiful churches. Recommend especially during weekdays as there are usually not many people.

An excellent experience for anyone with a genuine passion for medieval history or art history. Thanks in part to the sheer volume of material preserved by this institute, you can see the steady progression and change in artistic styles throughout the ages, as new painters create new variations on the same scene, allowing you to watch art history play out as well as track the evolution of medieval art and wider material culture. I loved it. The staff were friendly and pleasant, the price was fair and there were so many exhibitions.

Highly recommended if you are interested in Medieval arts. Works (paintings and wooden statues) on permanent exhibition date from XIII to XVI c. and reveal quite and unusual taste, deeply european but with a very distinctive local flavour. I personally found the result very intriguing and some works are truly stunning. The place Is quiet, easy to reach and there's a cloak room for luggage and coats.

A small gem of a museum. The collection is exquisite and beautifully displayed. The descriptions, in English, are clear and informative. The garden on an autumn day was colorful and serene.

A Hidden Gem! For lovers of history and art visiting Prague, this is a MUST! You have two areas to visit, The Convent which is free, the convent was founded in the 1230s and contains the graves of a King/Queen and a few names lovers of history might recognize. The National Gallery portion is ticketed but contains artwork from the 1200-1400s wonderfully displayed and preserved. Missing this is your loss!

An excellent and beautifully kept gallery filled with treasures. When I was there, a group of children from kindergarten were on a guided tour with their teacher, so lovely to see.

A surprisingly large museum filled with religious art and a beautiful set of gardens around it. The gardens and ground floor (the history of the convent) are free. The exhibition space upstairs is very reasonably priced and gives you access to literally rooms and rooms of religious art. The collection showcases the range of artworks that were produced as well as the changing artistic styles. All of the notices are in both Czech and English.

Extremely well preserved religious panel drawings and sculptures dating from the 14th - 16th century. Good descriptions of the progressing styles of artwork. Could take anywhere from a casual interested hour or so to a dedicated 3-4 hours. Good value as well.

If you enjoy Christian art I’d Recommend this museum. Some of the oldest art pieces are From 1350! It is also a lot bigger than I expected. It is a short walk to the alchemy museum and the Jewish quarters, which I also recommend.

This convent setting could not be more perfect for this collection. It has a rich, layered history along with many beautiful structures. I would recommend visiting for anyone who is interested in architecture or history, not just art. That said, their art collection is also very impressive and interesting. I learned quite a bit and enjoyed their curation as well.

Mostly medieval and religious art. The museum building is impressive itself close to old town in Prague 🇨🇿. Main room has all walls painted in black. Would have appreciated a different choice of background for the paintings, completely black wall behind each painting in the main rooms just took away from the immersive colorful experience that these works have to offer.
