The art nouveau studio was built on the outskirts of Vinohrady in 1908-1910. In 1945, the villa was heavily damaged during bombing. In 2006-2007, the studio, which was in a state of disrepair, was reconstructed. In October 2007, after the reconstruction, the studio was reopened as a teaching space for visiting teachers from abroad.

A house as a work of art. An unmissable creation of the beginning of modernity. 20th century The enormous studio also serves the work of artists. Only some external details did not escape the malice of idiots.

This place remembers Master Šaloun and the Bolshevik mob that stole his studio. When the opportunity arises, bet.

Within the diverse activities of AVU with the participation of foreign experts, the international program of creative practice called the Visiting Artist's Studio has a special place. Since 2007, 19 internationally established personalities have taken turns in it, who pass on their practical professional experience to selected students in the form of one-semester internships. The studio of the visiting artist is located in the national cultural monument, the Art Nouveau villa of the sculptor Ladislav Šaloun in Vinohrady. The focus and topic of the given semester internship will be presented by the guest artist in person at the introductory lecture in the AVU Auditorium. The methods of working with students differ from established procedures in home studios in particular by offering the possibility of group creative practice (in addition to own creation) and the emphasis on participatory forms of artistic expression. Here, students can try out models reminiscent of the professional conditions of the author's production of exhibitions and artefacts, events intended for public space, and they will get information about the functioning of the art apparatus and the position of the artist elsewhere in the world. This creates space for them to compare the state of their own work with international expectations and standards. Studio meetings are held by arrangement with the visiting artist at the beginning of the semester (usually 2 times a week). Students are expected to be actively engaged on a full-time basis and willing to work collectively. Communication in the studio takes place in English.
