Never 👎 This restaurant refuses to provide you with a receipt, the prices in euro are approximate in the menu AND they are charging you with imaginary fees. We paid around 20 euros on top of our bill for “taxes”. Also you cannot pay with Card because they are most probably hiding taxes from the government and are making money on the back of the tourists. A total SCAM. Never sit there, you will just ruin your vacation.

Terrible Service, waiter never said they didn’t accepted credit card, that I had to pay with cash (which I didn’t have) I had to go to the cashier to pay them. The tip, he automatically decided how much tip I had to give him, while service was bad! When I say bad is that they were smoking on the street and attending us while talking on the cellphone. Out of nowhere they brought us bread (that no one asked) it turned out this bread was charged on the bill at a high price. DO NOT COME!

Would not recommend this place! We went there thinking we could get some authentic tzech food but were very disappointed. The service was okay-ish but we got bad vibes from the atmosphere. The gulash was actually quite good but the dumplings were still frozen. Even more you have to pay extra for the dumplings and usually they should be included. At the end the waiter asked us for a tip and put in an insane amount without our knowledge. We paid way more than considered normal for a good tzech dish.

Really bad atmosphere, staff just sitting around. Dishes coming without listed ingredients on, and staff tried to hide it when confronted. Food wasn’t very good, pancakes were especially bad, soggy and cold. Food took ages and came at different times. Server tried to tell us we couldn’t pay card until we pointed out the card machine on the bar. Wouldn’t allow us to split the bill or have a detailed receipt. We later worked out they charged us an extra £10/250CZK, maybe for the bread we didn’t order.

Shameless rip off tourists. Exorbitant prices that do not match the menu and on top of that they charge you extra prices for cutlery, tips to waiters, tips to the kitchen, etc. Disastrous treatment of the waitress when explaining our discomfort, without offering us any solution. We asked to speak to her manager to tell her the same thing and she and two other colleagues laughed. To prevent this from happening again, we filed a complaint with the local authorities in Prague and have opened a claim with the European Union Consumer Ombudsman with a lawyer. I do not recommend it, you will feel insulted and cheated.

I don't know why people are so upset on this restaurant because we've found really good food and nice services. The gulash soup and gulash stew was delicious and the sirloin beef with bread dumpling as well. Maybe beer it was not very fresh, that's why i gave 4 stars. The athmosphere is nice, there is a court yard inside with original drawns from the book on the walls. Price are good, not small but not too high. All in one, it deserve a bit more chance from the clients.

Old school Prague "fast food" (for lack of a better phrase) that serves the local tasty standards up quickly. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with friends.

  • 1/5 Diana G. 9 months ago on Google
I wish I could give zero stars. Worst experience ever. First they wanted to charge us for bread that was old and stale. Then, we got the food which was so little on the plate. They charge extra for sides. I got the goulash and I only had 3 pieces of meat and it didn’t even taste good. It was cold as well. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE.

We came here to drink some beers and have some traditional Czech food, without big expectations. Food is just fine. Not great, but average quality for a tourist place like this. The presentation of the dishes is much better than other establishments though. The atmosphere was really good. We were in the terrace, but the whole bar had the traditional decoration of the old city. Good vibes! Also, the young guy who served us was really nice and asked us some times if everything was fine. I don’t know the rest of the staff, but the young waiter was very cool. Finally, beers were perfect! It wasn’t the best restaurant of the city, but it wasn’t as bad as the reviews say.

Words can not explain the laziness of the waiter. He was unwilling to serve us, bring food ä, drink or even to Listen to questions. The dishes were so so but better food would have been expected for the price. We will not come again and cannot recommend the restaurant. 1 Star for the Beer. It Was good

THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP. They charge you 2x the prices around the city. They charge you extra for the items of the same dish (dumpling with goulash for example). I am surprised they dont charge extra for the cutlery. Worst experience accross any place in prague.

Nice and rustic place, friendly waiters, fast and good service. I had a full plate of Goulash and side of dumplings which I found absolutely delicious accompanied by a very good dark beer. In the bill the tip was not included and the peanuts were free. Paid in cash.

Very bad service, they charge you the nuts, very tricky you come to the restaurant and you think are for free because are on the table and at the end are in the bill, first they tell you to pay in cash in coronas but also is in the advertisement that you can pay in euros because there is the rate exchange (I added the pictures) they didn’t want to take euros after it is there so after a discussion we could pay by card. The waiter very arrogant she said I don’t need your tip there are so many customers. The bathrooms do not have paper and soap. Fortunately I have a wife who speaks the language otherwise they take advantage of you and the worst they’re were talking bad words behind the bar after finish the discussion. They take advantage of the location of the restaurant and they have very bad customer service.

One extra star because the food was delicious but the waiters are rude and they demand a tip. The Czech hospitality does not understand that the tip is given for an extraordinary service...nothing like I have seen in this city so far. Also, this place did not give us an itemized bill until I demanded it. It looks like it is not the standard there. Also a small glass of coke or ice tea costs same as a big glass of beer. Be careful because they give you a shot without asking for it, but you will be charged for it.

I am very upset, couvert 2x per 100 kč (8 eur) we didn't ordered and didn't touched, and It was basically old bread which even didn't fit with our meal. BTW the worst svíčková I ever had.

Tourist trap. They lure you in with cheap beer and then try to rip you off with surprise extra charges. The food isn’t bad, but also not worth the exorbitant prices. For using ketchup that was brought to the table, they charged 2€. The menu clearly states (in the fine print) that their “couvert charge” applies to main courses only. Then, as I paid the waiter, he insisted on a 20% tip. Absolutely rude & he outfaced lied about how tipping works on their system. This isn’t my first rodeo in Prague. Avoid this place. There are plenty of better spots in Prague that are much friendlier.

The poor waiter was overwhelmed with an influx of customers and seemingly had to call for back up. Pretty impressive that he kept his cool and i got both my beer and my řízek fairly quickly. The řízek was a bit dry but still good, accompanied by a side of baby potatoes. They have signs that they have air conditioning but I neither saw nor felt one on this hot day. They take credit cards and the waiter asked for a tip.

It looks nice but very expensive and they charge even for bread which we didn't even touch and after they gave it to next table and charged us for sauces which we didn't used or touched. And then the waiter begged for tip. Honestly not worth it. Go the proper Czech pub not restaurant. The pub is cheaper ,better food and staff friendly and charge you for what you eat.

I don't recommend this place to anyone! The worst experience we had in Prague so far! Food was kind of OK, the service was bellow any standards. We have waited for our meals for over 40 min. In the bill there was some bread and peanutts we never ordered and were just delivered to our table and we never consummated them. When we asked why this is in the bill we were informed that this is specified in the menu. The beer they poored us was more foam than beer. On top of the bad atmosphere the awful service and the ridiculous bill issues, the waiter actually asked me three times for a tip and reminded me it is not included in the bill. I would never go there again!

We were at the Hanging Man statue and went into this place to have lunch..the waitress asked "will you eat?" And we said yes, so she directed us to the table. A male waitress came to take our orders and gave us a basket of bread which we didn't take. After the meal we asked for the bill and he said "inside" and I went in to pay. The service charge of 15% is forced upon you. Not wanting to make a fuss, we paid. And then noticed the bill had extra 60 crowns on it so we asked the waitress who was stacking the plates but seems to be in an argument with another couple who were paying in cash. I asked her what is the 60 crowns for, and she said something which I didn't catch, but then promptly dropped the plates she was stacking and it all dropped and broke on the floor. She muttered " this is what happens when you speak to the waitress" and completely ignored me. No apology, nothing. And then, and I kid you not, when she saw me still standing there, she dropped another couple of plates, which broke and hit my friend on the legs. They have a few chains. Avoid at all cost. We paid 1000 crowns for nothing, not even good food. But the tantrums was what got to us. Extremely unprofessional and totally uncalled for behaviour.

DO NOT EAT HERE; overpriced, rude service. Our guides told us that “scamming” is a national pastime in Prague, but this restaurant is living proof that not all scammers operate in the street. Here they will charge you for using utensils and for any condiments you use, then beg you for an additional tip. The food was okay at best, was one of the only options open at 8AM, and consequently they will up-charge you in any way they can. We at at some nice restaurants in Prague, but proportionally speaking this meal was the most expensive for the poor quality we received.

Literally the WORST dining experience in years! One of those places where they actually want to rip you off with auto-ordered bread, ketchup, salt & pepper package. No one wanted that, yet they charge you automatically. We waited for food for so long, everything came out cold. We ordered soup as a starter. It came as the last, waiter spilled it over the table, didn't even bother to wipe the table afterwards. And for the grand finale - they force you to pay 10% tip.. I repeat, they force you to pay it. I've never seen anything like this anywhere else in the Czech republic. Do yourselves a favor and please just stay away from this place.

The worst experience we had in Prague. The price was not clearly written in the menu. They charge lots extra at the end. We ordered gulas but they also charged dumping separately. As well, we ordered Wiener schnitzel but they charged fries extra. We were very surprised when we saw the bill. We asked for the details, the waiter was very rude. People should avoid this place.

Receiving the food less than two minutes after I ordered made me suspicious. Let's check Google Reviews, I told myself. And there my fears were confirmed - tourist trap. Actually it's not that bad. Yeah, it's overpriced, the waiters could be smiling a bit more, the food could be warmer and the portions larger, but all in all the food wasn't bad. One secret tip to the cooks: if you let the food a bit longer in the microwave, people will not suspect that it's microwaved. Also, it actually gets warm to a decent level ;)

This place is great, we have gone many times over many years and can’t understand the criticism in other reviews. People complain about the sides being extra as though this is some sort of con - the menu clearly states that the sides listed with the meals are recommendations and cost extra, and the staff also make this clear. The food is amazing, the value is great and they are always accommodating, for example changing the TV channel for us to watch a specific football match that wasn’t being shown. It’s a shame it has a bad rep, I don’t review very often but can’t stress enough that the rating is really unjustified.

Horrible experience!! Bad food, bad service and they will charge you everything from bread, sauce, catchup that we didn’t even order or touched. end up costing more than luxury dinner last night. people should write more reviews for tourists so they don’t get ripped off by these kind of horrible restaurants.

Taste of the food is perfect but I definitely do not recommend you to go there. There was a hair in my dish and we paid for every minor thing as an extra. Also 10% tip is obligatory so don't think that you will pay the prices in the menu.
