The most awkward place in the entire Prague. As part of our Prague city break we visited Vishegrad and decided to have some lunch break in RIO restaurant as it seems to be the only place within the castle walls. The waiter was extremely rude to us when we walked inside the building. He said the restaurant was private (still not sure what did he mean by that) and that we are not allowed in so can only eat outside on the terrace. It was too cold and rainy outside to sit on the terrace and we also didn't want to stay in after such elaborate welcome, so we left. Steer clear of this place. The service is clearly not one of their specialty and we didn't have chance to try the food;)

Horrible customer service. Would not recommend at all. You can’t pay by card and it is not disclaimed anywhere as you can see in the pictures and not disclaimed by the rude waiter himself. Save your self staining a beautiful day with this restaurant’s awful treatment and service.

CASH ONLY unless you make it clear that you can only pay by card. Servers seem annoyed that you’re there. Prices are high compared to quality of food and service. Cash only policy isn’t made clear by signs and the waiters don’t tell you in advance. Comes across as a trap/scam for tourists in Vyšehrad.

Nice place to rest and enjoy during the walk in vysehrad. Since it was cold, had some hot wine and hot chocolate for my friend. Both were good. Unfortunately they didn't have card payments. Still we were lucky that they accepted Euro as cash payment. Nice service.

My recommendation is do not go here except if you want to tortures yourself or kill your mood. In that case, there is a “nice” waiter is waiting for you and ready to give some unforgettable services.

Miserable rude service, more charisma with the cemetery residents adjacent. Contrary to other reviews they don’t accept cards or Apple Pay, apparently the area doesn’t have terminal which is odd as the basilica across the street has it and the restaurant has Wi-Fi. Clearly the tax saving doesn’t go on team building or training. Better go to Macdonold’s or suck on a potato for a more wholesome experience.

During the daytime they have soft-serve ice cream on the back side of the building nearest to the church. The flavors rotate everyday. But this is the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. The blueberry is to kill for.

Food without any taste, only one beer from tap rest was in cans, service was terrible. One of the employees told us that we can't pay by a card when the second one didn't had any problem with that. There were an extra position on our order that we didn't order. And this one beer that was avelible on tap was not so good.

Waiter was very rude, asked a very simple question after waiting for 20 minutes. The guy did not even walk up to us and apologize for the delay. When I asked the question he said:”Don’t you see I am busy?” 0/5 would not recommend

They dont accept cards, what you can recognize only if you try to pay. We paid with cash 50eur, they played that gave back 40eur, but it was a lie...talked with us that we are the idiots and we have stolen 40euros, after the boss recognized their mistake, and he gave back the 40euro finally.

It only received cash (no credit/debit card) so we have to pay in euros and for a total of two Americano coffees that were 4 euros he charged us 11 euros because of the exchange, more than the double

The object was built during the reconstruction of the Vyšehrad cemetery in 1886 as a replacement for the demolished house of the sacristan (No. 11), which was located in the cemetery and interfered with the proposed modifications. The single-storey house is built in the Neo-Gothic style according to a design by Václav Sigmund. Nowadays it serves as a restaurant. A copy of the embossed coat of arms of the Vyšehrad Chapter from the New Deanery building was placed in the gable of the main facade. In 1995, a bronze plaque with a bust of the Czech Queen Eliška Přemyslovna was placed on the corner of the house opposite the church. She lived in Vyšehrad for the last years of her life. The sculpture is the work of academic painter Lumír Šindelář. The author used her relief portrait of the St. Vitus Cathedral's triforium to design the image of Eliška. The plaque was officially unveiled in 1995 to mark the 665th anniversary of the Queen's death. Petra a Pavla.

The hot wine was good, but the service was very poor. The male waiter on the terrace at the back seemed very bored and uninterested, working as if it were during the communist era.

Worst experience in Prague, and even in Europe. The waiter/chef/barista/ whatever he is, deserves an Oscar for the most rude person in the sector. I thought he was just in a bad day, but reading the comments, I am really sad he is losing his life doing something he probably hates. There isn’t another explanation for being so stupid.

Quick stop for a mulled wine, atmosphere was nice until time to pay. “Cash Only”. There were no signs, I’m sorry this is 2023 right? I had no cash & the waiter stormed off muttering obscenities in CZ when returning with the eftpos machine. Rude Huh? Was considering dinner there. Not now.

The previous poor reviews did not do this family run restaurant justice. The restaurant is proud of its food and rightfully so for we had one of the best meals eaten in Prague without breaking the wallet. Each dish was made with pride and was delicious , and their desserts and coffees are good too. Just note that they take cash only either Czech or EUR and it was made known to us from the start. Service is traditionally Czech, efficient but with pride and as we warmed up to the gentleman, it became a pleasure to dine there for us as it was a warm cosy respite from the cold winter snow.

Lots of reviews say they don’t take cards, but I’ve been coming here for three years and have paid by card no problem. Maybe during the height of the tourist season they refuse to take cards? No idea. Today I had a beer and the beef burger with cheese and bacon which was served with potato chips (“crisps”) that were stale (maybe because it’s a rainy day today). When the waiter came to collect my plate I told him the chips (which I didn’t eat) were stale and he barely grunted. I found that behavior to be quite rude, and was ready to leave in a huff. I asked him a minute or two later for the bill and said I’d pay by card. He comped me the beer. Czech servers can be rude or gruff, and this guy was a great example of that. It’s not common, but you will encounter it. There is another waiter here who is always quite nice and the food really is very good so YMMV. I’ve never had anyone be rude to me at Cafe Bistro Citadela, and the beer garden Na Hradbach is pretty nice and quite family friendly.

Service was excellent, very helpful and friendly when we were looking for some drinks after climbing the stairs breathless and later when we stopped for dinner. Food was so far the best we had in the city. Highly recommended!

Good place for a short stop on Vysehrad. Tasty, real homemade lemon lemonade, fresh peppermint tea, coffee, wine and a selection of food, e.g. from soup to burger or salmom steak and pancakes. Waitors are slightly rude, just ignore it and smile... 🙄

The waiter was very rude and arrogant. After waiting for 15 minutes in a doorway to be attended I asked a simple question and the answer was that “don’t you see I’m busy right now”. Do not recommend.

Rude waiter. No card payments (we did not know) which was fine in our case, but I can image not for other tourists. No ATM near either. Food and drinks were fine

Toiletten in sehr schlechtem Zustand.

it was a mistake to go to this cafe. there is no sign anywhere that cards are not accepted, and the staff does not warn you about it. The waiter didn't even listen to our order to the end and just left. in the end, we just drank tea and smelled people smoking nearby

Horrible service. The waiter was rude, they didn't accept credit card payment althoug there wasn't any sign. I had a coke and he didn't bring ice on my glass. The local clients got ice on their drinks. He overcharged me it was 60 and I had to pay 3 euros.

We ended up here somewhat by accident but it was a great find! Located in a lovely park, the outdoor space is great, the entrees and desserts were delicious, and our server made sure our beers and wine were never empty!

I have never met a more unpleasant cafe in Prague. The staff is arrogant, impolite. Every second the waiter walked around with a displeased face and looked into our mouths, whether we had finished eating or not, there were a lot of empty seats, and he just waited for us to leave. Asked for the bill, they didn't bring it, they just told us the amount. We spoke to him in Czech, and he basically spoke to us in English. Some kind of nationalist got caught. In this institution is no longer a foot.
