One of the gems of Prague. A beautiful theatre that makes you feel you went back in time. Visibility is excellent from the floor, while some of the upper tiers can have issues. However, the acoustic is good. The theatre houses a very good program of both Czech and international artists.

Very historical, very nice architecture but also very compact. Unfortunately the performance (Le nozzle di Figaro) was following an (very) alternative take and was really boring. Which does not allow us to enjoy it till the end.

here, unfortunately, there are no subtitles right on the chair in front of you, which is why everything hard to read as the screen is too far away and you have to strain your eyes for the entire presentation if you don't speak the original language. friendly staff, didn't try the food, but there were snacks

I raced to get there over cobblestones cause I could not find a cab. I was just a couple of minutes late. I could barely catch my breath and move. I had asked deliberately for a seat that didn't require stairs because I'm older and in pain. They would not seat me and instead made me go up to the very top upper balcony and stand for an hour and a 1/2 until the intermission. 2 nights prior I went to the state opera where they were gracious and a couple of people who had arrived late were shown to their seats like human beings to sit and enjoy the show they paid for.

This is such a beautiful place, so even if you don’t like opera, you should visit it to at least see the building from inside - it’s really worth it. The interior is magnificent, it’s in a very good condition and you can feel history here (the theatre is more than two hundred years old). Besides, the National Theatre performances in general are very good and more affordable by price comparing to Western Europe.

Tyn Church is the most visible landmark of old town. It looks wonderful during the day and even better at night when it is lit up. Late in the evening after the crowds have gone, it looks like one of the Disney structures. The inside of the church is also very beautiful. Absolutely must see on your Prague visit.

The lime-green and white Estates theatre (Stavovské Divadlo) is one of the finest examples of Neoclassical elegance in Prague. It was built in 1783 by Count Nostitz Rieneck for Prague’s influential German community. It is something of a mecca for Mozart aficionados since on 29 October 1787, it hosted the world premiere of Don Giovanni (a hooded bronze statue of Il Commendatore flanks the main entrance on the left), with Mozart himself conducting from the piano. The opera was an instant hit with Prague audiences despite flopping everywhere else in Europe. Due to his love affair with Prague, Mozart also chose to premier La Clemenza di Tito at the Estates theatre in 1791. Recognizing Mozart’s strong connection with the theatre, Czech director Miloš Forman made use of its interior in his famous Oscar-winning film Amadeus. The gold and blue auditorium of the theatre looks like a chocolate box and can only be seen when attending a performance inside. The Estates theatre occupies a special place in Czech history, for it was here that the Czech national anthem, “Kde domov můj?” (Where Is My Home?), was first performed, as part of the comedy Fidlovačka, by J.K. Tyl.

It's a beautiful theatre! Just be careful of sitting in the balconies. I got the back seat that is literally a tall chair in the corner. It is hot and stuffy, so bring a hand fan. Otherwise, the screens helped with subtitles in various languages and their food options were good enough to get me through the opera.

Spectacular experience watching Leonce and Lena at The Estates Theatre. Magnificent Theatre. I fell in love with the interior. Sat in A16 and it was a very good seat. Very good view. You can also see the orchestra while they’re playing. Leg room can be improved but not bad. I paid approximately £35 for my seat.

Thoroughly enjoyed the opera here. Our box had fantastic view. Would have liked to take our drinks with us to our box, but not allowed to apparently?! Had to leave them in the bar fridge to finish during intermission.

We watched Don Giovanni at this theater. It's beautiful and... this is actually where Mozart first presented Don Giovanni. It couldn't get any better!! Drinks are available at the bar downstairs during the intermission. I liked to have the subtitles on the screens. This is the first opera I watched that had the screens with subtitles telling the story. Prices are very inexpensive for good seats in Prague.

The estates theatre is really beautiful with shades of blue. I was watching a drama and bought a seat in the upper gallery, then the staff gave me an upgrade seat in front of the stage. It was a very pleasant experience.

I saw Don Giovanni here on 29th October, exactly 234 years anniversary of Wolfgang's premièr performance of it here. Swoooooon ..♥️ This theatre is a pretty gem. And very enlightening to see how relatively small the theatre is, and its "acoustic scale" that Mozart wrote the opera for, rather than the huge opera houses, with their huge orchestras and "big sound" that we are used to doing this opera today. And the fabulous sharp orchestra with fine, impressive local singers would even have pleased Mozart, I reckon. I'm an old man, and I've loved Mozart's operas for most of my life, and this place was a TREAT I'll not forget.

Beautiful, cute small theater, home to many Mozart opera plays among so many other. It’s just beautiful and charming, and has a small bar under the theater for the breaks. I recommend attending at least an opera in this theater.

I've had a splendid evening here with Le Nozze di Figaro, world class orchestra, cast and direction Of course this is a famous venue because of its rich history, inaugurated in 1783 it is one of the oldest theaters in the world preserved in its original form. This is also the place where Don Giovanni by Mozart premiered in 1787 and it's the only remaining theatre where Mozart conducted and that's still around . Lots of history here and I'm glad I took part in a tiny bit of it Mandatory for music lovers when in Prague

Once you reach the old town area the Church and its spires are one of the first things that you generally see. Looking around it is hard to see if there is an entrance. You need to go through a passageway in between the restaurants lining the Old Town Square at the base of the church. If you follow that to the end you end up at the entrance of the church. The church itself is quite beautiful on the inside. There is a path that goes around in an anti-clockwise direction so you circle the interior of the church. Just remember to put your phones on silent for people who are praying inside.

One of my favourite theaters. Smaller than the mains one but very beautiful and cozy inside. This theater is famous and is known for the fact that in 1787 the premiere of the Mozart's opera Don Giovanni took place there. You can still now a days find the tickets on this opera in this theater.

The photos of the theater speak for themselves so there is no need to comment on its aesthetics. I will focus on the opera we watched (Magic Flute - W.A.Mozart). The previous years we've watched the same Opera in Zurich and Vienna but this was by far richer and more elaborate production compared to the previous two of course. So the quality is really really high. The nodding between the director and first cello after the queen's aria was indicative of their appreciation of the performance. There is a spatial limitation due to the width of the stage that impacts the size of the orchestra resulting in fewer instruments and the total absence of drums. To be fair though, the acoustics of the theater is breathtaking rendering any complaint mute. I do have to mention the beautiful people working in all the areas of the theater elevating the experience over all. Almost all speak excellent English and they assist you with a huge smile.

One of the best churches in Prague. A must-see located right in the centre. Spectacular main altar and side altars. Beautiful chapels, with a historic church organ. The church that looks like a castle with its turrets and spires! It's almost haunting! It's the main church in the Old Town Square of Prague. Entry is free although it is customary to drop an offering. You're not allowed to take photos inside. Also, the church is closed on Sundays and Mondays. (Translated by Google) The Estates Theater is considered one of the most beautiful historical theater buildings in Europe. The building was commissioned by Count Franz Anton Nostitz-Rinek, who was driven by the desire to contribute to the development of his hometown, German theater and Italian opera. Construction lasted two years, and in 1783 the theater opened with the premiere of Lessing's tragedy Emilia Galotti. This very important project for Prague at that time corresponded to the spirit of the end of the 18th century, when national theaters were built in European courts, cities and cultural centers in the light of the Enlightenment's ideas that a public theater is a moral authority that documents the cultural level of a nation. Built in the style of classicism, the Prague Estates Theater, along with the theater in Leoben in Styria, is the only theater of its kind in Europe, which has survived to this day in an almost original form. In 1798, the Prague estates bought the theater, and since then it has been named after the Royal Estates Theater. Many generations of the founders of the Czech theater genre have worked on the stage of the Estates Theater. From the pioneers - brothers Karel and Vaclav Tam and Ya.N. Stepanek and to Klitzper, J.K. Rear and J. Kollar and others. Estates theater is inextricably linked with the name of Mozart. Along with the performances of his other works, the world premieres of two of his operas took place here: the famous Don Giovanni (29.10.1787 - conducted by Mozart himself) and Mercy of Titus (in 1791 on the occasion of the coronation of Leopold II). Throughout its history, the theater has also attracted a number of important creators of the European level: Karl Maria von Weber worked here as Kapellmeister, Angelica Catalani sang here, performed with concerts by Niccolo Paganini, Anton Rubinstein, Karl Goldmark and Gustav Mahler conducted here, of the famous actors A .IN. Iffland, F. Raimund, Wenzel Scholze, African-American tragedian Ira Aldridge, French tragedian Eliza Rachel and many others.

(Translated by Google) . The Church of the Mother of God in front of Týn is one of the most important churches in Prague. The original Romanesque church belonged to the hospital of merchants in today's Ungelt. In its place was in the 13th century. built an early Gothic church. In Hussite times, the church used to be the main bastion of the Hussites. Church of the Mother of God in front of Týn - the original Romanesque church, first mentioned in 1135, belonged to a hospital of merchants and got its name from a fenced place, Týnský dvor, which was also called. The temple in its current form began to be built in the middle of the 14th century. It was not until 1457 that a truss was made over the main nave, and in the following years, during the reign of King George of Poděbrady, the construction of the western gable took place. In it was erected a king's statue with the inscription Veritas vincit - Truth wins and above it a large golden chalice, into which four gauges of grain fit. The chalice allegedly dates back to early Christian times, but was said to be even older. Although Catholic priests paid several times well to thieves to steal the chalice, no one succeeded. The rare chalice fell into the eyes of the storks, who set up a nest in it and deposited a large number of earthworms, snakes and frogs. The vermin then fell down into the square and the snakes crawled into the streets. The Hussites would like to remove the chalice, but they could not do so for the sake of faith and also for the ridicule of Catholics. The solution was found when the storks flew to warm regions, the Hussites covered the chalice with a large plate (Original) . Vzácný kalich padl do oka čápům, kteří si v něm zřídili hnízdo a nanosili do něj velké množství žížal, hadů a žab.
