A beautiful piece of nature in Prague, it's just necessary to leave behind the block of flats. This is one of the quieter places, but you need to watch out for cyclists. It's not exactly pleasant when you're walking along a wooden sidewalk and a cyclist is speeding behind you. This slightly spoils the overall impression. There are several possible ways to go. It is certainly nice to walk the entire route from the lookout tower to Čihadlo. Alternatively, pass Čihadla and walk to the Počernické Pond.

We used to go here with a friend by bike in the summer. But autumn is much nicer on foot. Horses have been replaced by cows, but there are fewer people and cyclists...

A very green oasis in the eastern outskirts of Prague, sandwiched between unwelcoming residential quarters of Černý Most and a quiet villa districts of Kyje and Dolní Počernice. It's a protected natural reserve of wildlife and is meant to be undisturbed (dogs on the leash, no straying off designated pathways). It's crisscrossed by rivulets and dotted by tiny lakes. The whole huge area also serves as a natural food retention reservoir. Once there, try to imagine the size of the calamity that hit Prague in 2002 (and a few times later) as this whole huge area was inundated with water levels as high as 8 meters with all those massive meadows suddenly turned into the bottom of a deep lake.

A real surprise for me. A wonderful piece of nature on the outskirts of Prague. Ponds as from prehistoric times. Lots of butterflies, dragonflies and birds. Perfect for taking photos. Definitely worth visiting repeatedly.
