In my opinion this hospital is the closest thing to being in the US...except everyone speaks Czech. The care, cleanliness and very modern facilities were top notch during my stay in the ORL section (ENT). Reserve your "nadstandardni" room ahead of time and don't forget you may also request "nadstandardni stravovani" as well. Nadstandardni means "above standard" not just for a room but also food. Charges are per day and due at time of being released to go home. Check the UVN website for current price lists. The above standard room included refrigerator/freezer, electric kettle, private bathroom, TV and some rooms are maximum 2 people. Free internet throughout the complex although video calls and internet calling (skype, whatsapp)did not work on their network. No problem with streaming entertainment, however (Youtube, Netflix, etc). Although no visitors are allowed during covid, you may be lucky and get permission to visit the canteen to purchase food or drink. Staff do speak English although they may have to search for a speaker, your questions or concerns will always be attended to. Perfect accommodations and personnel to help get you healthy and on your feet again. Thank you, UVN and ORL dept in Bldg A!

Voted by patients as the best hospital in the country (2017) and deservedly so. I can't believe this hospital is so underused by the general public and everyone goes to Homolka or Motol. This hospital is amazingly organized and super clean, everything is in its own place, no "acceptable level" of chaos like in the other hospitals around here. Plus it's much less busy, so it is quiet and peaceful, with more attention given to you by the staff than elsewhere. Some people here mention that most staff doesn't speak English, I found this not to be true, majority of doctors speak English, nurses mostly don't, but there's always someone nearby who can help out. Amazing level of service - want your own room, ok, want special diet, ok we send nutrition specialist, he will be here in an hour... Want something else, done... I don't know why you'd want to go anywhere else.

Vojenska Nemocnice, it one of the best hospitals in the Czech Republic. If you translate the hospital name into English, you would simply call it the Military hospital. The hospital staffed with military personal and has one of the best mobile military hospitals in the world. This being said, the medical staff is used to work under tremeneeous stress, working in high risk zones such as Irak and Afghanistan. This type of training means that the hospital specializes in treating a wide range of trauma patients. My wife broke her collar bone last year and the medical staff did a exceptional job in surgery and the skin was stitched in such a way that any plastic surgeon would be proud. On the downside, my wife mentioned that in the recovery phase, the staff was understaffed and somewhat strained. In any event, I highly recommend this hospital.

(Translated by Google) Good day, now, at a time of extreme stress on the covid epidemic, I have been diagnosed with several very serious diseases. I am being treated with them at the Central Military Hospital. Despite the impression of considerable tiredness of doctors and nurses, I met with maximum willingness and dedication in all wards. In addition to the impression of the professional approach of doctors, I was surprised by the highly human moment in the behavior of Ms. MUDr. Šárka Blažkov. When she heard that I must be having trouble returning to my home after the examination, she offered to take me there after the shift, which she did. That is why I am very happy that such people work in our healthcare system. In addition to the high professionalism of doctors, the human approach is very important for patients.

Can only recommend it! Went there on a Sunday, emergency reception nurse spoke really good English and directly send me to the right department for examination. The nurse there didn’t speak English but was really friendly and didn’t mind us using Google translate. The doctors didn’t even take 10min to arrive, was fluent in English, explained every step and made sure I have no unanswered questions. Also the facility looked way better than in other Czech hospitals I’ve been to. Would definitely go there again.

I am an expat living in Prague and I was referred to this hospital by my gynecologist for a routine operation. Although my insurance would cover the expenses in any part of the world, it didn't take long for me to decide that UVN would be my choice. I never regretted my decision. On the contrary it exceeded my expectations. All doctors and nurses involved were attentive and caring even when there was a language barrier. On some occasions, some of them would go a step further and spoil me completely. I felt I was in safe hands all the time. Everything was exceptional, from people to cleanliness, privacy, comfort, catering. Every time I needed assistance, I had it. Special thanks to Dr Imrich Kiss, for his friendly and professional approach. I just wish all doctors are like him! Thank you UVN for an unforgettable experience!

(Translated by Google) Emergency! I came up with a minor cut on my foot. I was at home with the wound for over 2 days and the wound still did not heal, it hurt and a festering coating formed on it. A thin young blonde doctor was in the emergency room. He barely looked at it and began: You don't really mean going to the emergency room with this at 10 p.m. Does it sound normal to you? So you're very brave ... He talked to me all the time in a haughty and contemptuous tone. We felt terrible. No doctor has ever treated me like this in my life. If only they had a lot of work to do there, but when I came, they didn't have anyone in the surgery or in the waiting room. My friend has the same experience with this emergency. (Original) Pohotovost ! Přijde Vám to normální? To jste teda hodně odvážná...

Got my Covid (#5) vaccine at this facility. Vaccination center is located in building/pavilion E next door from entrance E7. Hospital is easily accessible via public transport/trams. The service and staff are very efficient. Dr. Mankovecky (fluent in English) and his nurse are extremely friendly and pleasant. Appointment is required and recommended for the vaccination services. I recommend this facility!

(Translated by Google) I have the opposite experience than the people writing here. I waited for THREE for three and a half months! magnetic resonance imaging (there is nothing you can do, this is the usual time in social healthcare) and a few days before the expected performance I had to go to sign informed consent. Because I am a perfectionist and I leave nothing to chance, I contacted the hospital in advance and "had the certificates approved", which they will ask of me when signing. It was mainly a statement from a general practitioner. I sent everything scanned to UVN and everything was approved by an unnamed doctor from UVN, with the proviso that I have to take the certificate with me and it will be ok. What was my surprise when I came for a pre-anesthesia examination and signed informed consent. First of all, the request: No one had it, not even the people who were sent directly to UVN (left hand doesn't know what the right is doing?) Not to be confused with a voucher for treatment, just a request. Second, the validity of the report from the attending physician: Must not be older than one month. Funny, there was no talk of that. And third, include blood tests. Blood tests for what? The value of free testosterone? Cholesterol levels? For urea, sodium? Of course, my doctor didn't know, and I wouldn't make it to the results by Friday. If UVN changed the rules at the last minute, can't it do these tests itself? I had a feeling that everything was fine, he was just trying to suggest to me that I should slip in an envelope with a smaller volume, when I've been waiting so many months ... it will pay off. It doesn't pay off, I whistled it. In conclusion, I want to write that, as an ordinary person, I completely despise this hospital for beanies. So far, this is my only bad experience with a hospital in Prague, I have more than a good experience with others. Moje lékařka samozřejmě nevěděla, navíc bych to nestihnul do pátku s výsledky.

I came on a Wednesday evening (about 7pm) to the emergency department for a urological emergency. I described my problems to the main info desk who spoke good English, and then I spoke the A&E reception who didn't have amazing English, but showing your problems on Google translate is enough. I was seen within about 20 minutes; the doctors both spoke perfect English and performed a needed procedure swifty and on the spot. Special thanks to Dr. Darina Pacigová for her care throughout and kind explanations I was insured, but the process for NON-INSURED works as follows (I have also gone as uninsured in the past): you go to the main information desk, who then ask for your ID and you will fill out a short form. You pay an administrative fee of CZK 1,500 on the spot, plus a CZK 5,000 deposit for any procedure (like scans, X-rays) done. If the total cost of the procedures is less than 5,000, you get refunded the remainder on the spot upon leaving the hospital - if you pay in cash initially. If you paid by card then you'll need to wait a few weeks for the refund..so better to pay the 5k in cash (As a rough estimate, a urine test, Ultrasound, and X-ray costed around 2,000). Good luck! A good place for foreigners if you don't speak Czech

It’s really a very good hospital. As I don’t speak Czech, it may be a problem in some places. But here it is very good. It’s like an international hospital. Everyone from the reception to the examination doctors all speaks good English. There is no problem with being treated. And the waiting time is not long at all.

As a foreigner, it's tough trying to find a doctor who you can communicate with thoroughly in English. This hospital, even some guards know English a bit. I went to the emergency department, the doctors there were very helpful and empathetic. I took some x-rays and the emergency doctor even recommended to me a pulmonologist who he knows that will be good for my case since they don't have one at the hospital. In general, this was the best experience even if any hospital visit isn't always a good thing. I read all the reviews online and I have to agree with most that this is the best hospital in town! Just a pity that they don't have a doctor concerned with pulmonary issues. But if you are a foreigner and you are in need of a hospital, this is the one for you.

This review is for the ULZ department in this hospital. I went several days to the hyperbaric chamber. The team was the best one I've ever encountered in Czech Republic, doctors, nurses, technicians, everyone was nice, positive, polite, helpful, and dedicated. They took the time to explain everything to the patients, are nice and smiling everyday. For the first time I felt they loved their job for both the medical part and the human contact. Special thanks to Mila, the nurse who took care about me all along the procedure. Please do not change anything! And for the hospital in general please take this department as an example!

If luck has turned away from you, as well as from me, and your appointment is with Jarmila Antusakova avoid it at all costs! During my appointment she was unprofessional, arrogant and absolutely ignorant. Examined my throat within 5 seconds, ignored all symptoms and health history and also my request to treat me with some efficient medicine that has proven result in the past. Highly do NOT recommend! P.S. the hospital itself is very clean and reception staff are very polite.

My most notable experiences are KARIM and Emergency (lucky me) and despite the other department being great, these two are exceptional. All the doctors, nurses and even other support are incredibly kind, professional and go the extra mile. The equipment and spaces are clean and mostly modern. So even if you have to go across whole Prague (and can make it), go here, it is worth it.

I phoned before coming over and I was told I can come because they have specialist. I went to ER reception who phoned the ORL dept and I was informed that ORL knows that I'm coming. I walked there and was just told that they don't have doctors. I think it makes them happy seeing sick people suffer more that they toy you around. Very unprofessional and unkind behaviour.

I’ve been to the hospital a few times as it used to be the closest to where I lived. While the emergency offered me the care I needed when I broke my finger, none of the staff spoke English so I had to get the report translated afterwords to understand how I was supposed to care for the finger. Apart from that, when I visited for elective care, the experience left much to be desired. The staff at the reception of the building where I was sent (not the main reception at the hospital) was quite rude and unhelpful. Even after visiting for the same treatment multiple times, they made me wait half an hour each time to inspect my insurance (which I pay for each month as an employee in ČR). Wouldn’t really be going here again if I have a choice not to.

It was about 9 pm at emergency, I understand it must be stressful to pick up the call that late. The lady on the phone was responding rudely. However, once we got there they were professional and helped kindly. They also accept PVZP (VZP for foreigners), and all my treatments were covered. I know some of us as foreigners might feel overwhelmed looking for the hospital. Try UVN emergency services. ps. They do speak English. Just might not be on call if you contact them late. Good luck.

English patient. Referred to neurology by AFIDA clinic consultant. VZP insurance. Absolutely excellent service, CT, MRI, Xray, as needed with no waiting. Most admin staff have some English, doctors all fluent. Clean and efficient, great cafe with food and drink, big pharmacy. Parking terrible, large external park but jammed with vehicles most of the time, plan time ahead well if driving. Public transport good metro/tram nearby. Gold star for customer service.

(Translated by Google) "Emergency" This department spoils the view of the hospital as such. Not only do you wait a long time to enter the examination room at all, some doctors don't even listen to you, they judge you by your clothes and the fact that you are a soldier and you are in a military hospital is the same for you ... And these are my 7-year experience and still no change for the better 🤷 🤦 I ask how is this possible? I have never had a problem with other departments.

(Translated by Google) The experience of this hospital is a disaster, except for the doctor and nurse who performed the Rengen, I do not know how the brothers are trained and what is valid if he lets me hold a cup of water and I can not drink because I am weak to lift myself. Another pearl is that the paramedic can't set my navigation exactly the address on the way, I was grossly offended by me that I was left with a brain after mine, he let two floors go up the stairs without help, I'd rather die at home than at this hospital (Original) Skušenost této nemocnice katastrofa až na Paní doktorku a sestru co prováděla rengen nevím jak jsou proškoleny bratři zá co je platí když mě nechá držet kelímek s vodou a nemohu se napít protože jsem slabá se sama zvednout .

Going to a hospital is almost never a pleasant experience, however, I can only say positive things about this one. The care they provide is both professional and kind. For anyone in need of emergency care, I highly recommend this hospital.

(Translated by Google) I already have a lot of experience with the Central Military Hospital. As a patient, a person accompanying a patient, a requester of information, a probant. The experience is entirely positive. Yes, sometimes there is confusion, delays in information. However, the care is informed and highly professional. The human approach so often called upon is also no exception. Thanks to everyone from ÚVN for their care for us. Great respect and gratitude! ORL experience: Doctor Eliska Splichalova is very thorough, professional and understanding. I was sent to ORL by my GP, and Dr. Splichalova was super caring, checked all my ENT condition, answered all my questions, explained to me how tonsils work and what is happening in my case, she calmed me down. To me it was one of the best experience with Czech healthcare system. Nurses at ORL were amazing as well.

Saved my life in summer 2021, super thankfull. Had my brain operated by the great neurosurgeon MUDr. Milan Mohapl, Ph.D. Very professional staff, modern equipment, I felt very calm and confident when I was there. I was afraid of doctors, but after my surgery and recovery in UVN - not anymore. They are angels.

Having lived in the United States for over 30 years and being accustomed to a certain level of care, I found the service I received at the Central Military Hospital in Prague to far exceed my expectations. This came after undergoing a poorly executed surgery for a tibial and fibular fracture at a regional hospital. The professionalism and friendliness of the medical staff at the Central Military Hospital, along with the quality of doctor-patient communication, was outstanding. I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Petr Krejci Jr., who accepted me on such a short notice and expertly corrected the initial mistake done at the other hospital. This high standard of care extended to the entire team, including the anesthesiologist, nurses, and even the housekeeping and catering staff. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the entire staff - thank you! I highly recommend the Central Military Hospital in Prague.
