"U Svatého Apolinář" is one of the longest continuous maternity hospitals in the world. The complex of objects was built according to the plans of architect Josef Hlávka from 1875. An interesting part of the hospital is the Chapel of the Holy Cross directly above the entrance vestibule, which was part of the original project. It was closed in the 1950s and its premises served as a warehouse. It was not until 1997 that the statue of Josef Hlávka by the academic sculptor Josef Mařatka was unveiled here. (Translated by Google) All the nurses and doctors from the G5 department deserve great praise. They were all smiling, kind, willing to me. How many patients can say that they enjoyed their stay at the ICU thanks to the super team? I do. Thank you so much, you are amazing. A top institution at the nationwide level, some patients from my room had to go home for several hours. It's just a shame how the Czech healthcare system is (not) financing such a top institution, when the most modern tools for the most complicated patients have to be bought by the Apolena Foundation (to which my thanks and contribution also belong). (Original) Velkou pochvalu si zaslouží všechny sestry i lékaři z oddělení G5.

From the outside, Vyšegad looks much better. Up close it is an ordinary building.

It would be best to sell the hospital and convert it into apartments.
