One of the entrances to the fantastic citadel of Vysehrad. I approached it this time ( my 9th visit ) through the tunnel on the East side and then up the hill. This is the most tranquill ( and romantic ) neighbourhood of Prague, offering terrific views of the city from all directions. Walk through the cemetery where so many famous as well as many unknown to me deceased are buried...Dvorak, Smetana ,Kubelik and the former chief conductor of the Czech Phil. Orchestra...Karel Ancerl ....who i had the honour of attending 2 of his concerts over 50 yrs ago.

Not many tourists know about this place, this is a big place with many activities. The brick gate is an empire gate. It is located in the northern part of the fort. About 2 hours is enough to see the place. Bazilika svateho is a beautiful place inside and out.

More out of the way and seemed less tourist made it this far. Lovely walk, tour if you’re inclined! Great views!
