(Translated by Google) Sir Nicholas George Winton was a British broker and humanitarian who rescued 669 predominantly Jewish children from occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939 from being transported to concentration camps by arranging them to travel to the United Kingdom by train. In his memory, a statue was placed on the 1st platform of the main railway station in Prague (Original) Sir Nicholas George Winton byl britský makléř a humanitární pracovnik, který v roce 1939 zachránil 669 převážně židovských dětí z okupovaného územ Československa před transportem do koncentračních táborů tím, že jim zajistil odjezd vlakem do Spojeného království.

It is a great memorial to Nicholas Winton and those volunteers who helped hundreds of children escape the war. You can find this statue behind the southernmost building next to the platform.

This statue stands in tribute to Sir Nicholas Winton, a British humanitarian who organised the Czech Kindertransport and saved the lives of hundreds of children. This monument depicts a man with two children getting ready to depart. There's expressions are of sadness, showing that even in being saved, it shows that their departure was also sadness for the children going into the unknown, away from their families. The statue is difficult to find as both TA and Google maps show an odd placement. It can be found on Platform 1. I spent some time looking for this and only managed to see this after arriving on the platform after a day trip. So I’m not sure if a ticket is required to get onto the platform.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful sculpture, a well-deserved tribute to Mr. Nicolas Wintno. He was able to do what very few would dare to do. (Original) Nádherná socha, naprosto zasloužená pocta panu Nicolasovi Wintnovi. Dokázal to, na co by si troufnul doopravdy jen málokdo..

A sculpture of the heroic Sir Nicholas Winton, not that he would have considered himself to be one. He saved the lives of many Jewish children by getting them to safety before the Second World War. Sad to see at the moment it's next to a refugee welcoming centre for Ukrainians, I'm sure he would have been deeply saddened by the need for that.

(Translated by Google) The Prague Central Station, the local intimately called Hlavák, got and still gets a new coat and looks like the first station of the metropolis, and indeed of the whole state, should look like. Passengers who have arrived here and stopping their train on the 1st platform, often do not notice sculptures, flowers, candles at the edge (in front of the salon). And when they notice, they do not know who the statue represents and what the man did. It is the lot of giants. And that he did. Read about Sir Nicholas. It's worth it. To už bývá úděl velikánů. A že vykonal. Přečti si o siru Nicholasovi. Stojí to za to.

A simple but very moving and suitable memorial. See the memorial outside the Liverpool Street Station in London relating to the arrival of these children, to complete the picture.

Sad to remember, dangerous to forget. 80 years ago today the first Czech Kindertransport train set off towards London from Prague's main railway station. This journey saved 669 children from the horrors of WWII. Today, we honor Nicholas Winton the man who made it possible. I visited the statue today on the anniversary to give my thanks.

(Translated by Google) Great idea and great rendition. I really liked it very much if you have the chance to go and think about what Sir Nicholas George Winton, to whom this memorial was dedicated, did. I'm a little sorry for the absence of any information on this work, yet not everyone knows the story that is related to this work. So if someone doesn't know whether to search the internet. (Original) Skvělý nápad a výborné ztvárnění.
