I am not a serial online ranter and it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. My experience at this restaurant two nights ago was so bad, that I feel I have to take the time to leave this review. It boils down to one thing, the staff was extremely unfriendly, out-rite rude and the service was absolutely horrible. We were a large group and immediately they appeared annoyed that we were there. I ordered a second round of drinks for the entire group and after 15-20 minutes, none of the drinks had arrived at the tables. I had to go to the service counter and remind them as it appeared they had forgotten. At that point I paid for the round of drinks right then and there. After 20 minutes, no drinks arrived. I returned to the counter to ask when we will get the drinks and they seemed confused. I showed them the receipt for the drinks i ordered 20 minutes earlier and they said they would bring them soon. 10 minutes later they brought less than half the drinks, and never returned with the rest. I had watched to make sure everyone got their drinks and when they didn’t appear to, I went to every member of our group to ask if they received their second drink to make sure I was correct before confronting the staff again. I returned to the counter for a third time to ask where the rest of the drinks were at which point they said they already brought the drinks. I told them they were mistaken and in fact most drinks were still missing. The group of waiters then started speaking in their own language under their breath and appeared more annoyed by me (i believe they weren’t Czech). They continued to deny that they owed me any more drinks, at which point i asked for the manager. The manager came out and I explained the situation to her, while the staff denied my claims to her. The manager was visibly frustrated and said she didn’t know what to do because her staff was telling her that we had been served the drinks. I told her that that was not the case and I am not trying to scam the restaurant for a few drinks. At this point i should note, we were not intoxicated and this was only our second drink of the night I was attempting to order. Eventually, the manager negotiated me down to 2/3 of the drinks we were missing. Soon after, one of the waiters brought the drinks out and angrily slammed them down on the table in front of me. Throughout this entire exchange i never once raised my voice or lost my temper. Their behavior as a collective staff was completely uncalled for and it was apparent that they didn’t want us there. One waiter looked like he wanted to hit me he was so angry, despite the fact that he was not even the one who took the order. We come to Prague annually for a sporting event with over 30 people in our group ready to spend a lot of money for a good team bonding evening and experience. In the future, this joke of a restaurant will not be getting our business. We recommend anyone reading this to go to the Matuska pub and brewery. Very friendly staff, unbelievable food and the beer is the best I have ever had.

Can't we put 0 star ? because that's what deserve the staff in this restaurant. I honestly had such a bad experience with my friends there. Impolite, rude, not well served, very late in the service, and I could continue this way for several more lines..... My advise: save your time, save your money, save your trip in Prague by not going there. Best and warm regards,

Never again. The restaurant is a complete disaster, one of the worst experiences while living there for a year. The food was terrible in taste, especially comparing to normal places. The beer was pretty average but the service was not able to fully fill the glass even after such a request. So, both food and beer were in addition really overpriced. I understand that it’s just a tourist trap but not all the places in the city centre can provide such a low quality. Sorry for such a review, but people should be aware of what they can receive.

The number of waiters and waitresses is very limited. Food is nice and the portion is fulfilling, too. It's one of the oldest restaurants in Prague, but I doubt if it's one of the must-tries. However, their beer is good. Maybe the hotel section would be better.

This place is really a classic, a legend. I have a feeling that food doesn't taste as good as when I visited Prague in my younger years. But in my opionion it still deserves five stars... great beer and friendly staff, if you're with friends you are in a good place!

It was so disappointing. My boyfriend and I went very hungry, literally that even a chicken wing of the supermarket would have tasted like heaven. But no... The food was so bad, meat was dry, hard and not nearly enough to the prices they ask, the sauce had way too much sugar what made it unbearable to finish, this is about dish number 16 (beef with bread, and sugary sauce) , the beef was closer to jerky! I wish I had made a picture but I was so shocked I didn't even think about it. My boyfriend ordered dish 21, potato dumplings with smoked meat, and listen when I tell you that was some supermarket frozen quality thing! The beer was good (even tho with elevated prices in comparison to other places in Prague) but we were so annoyed by the situation that we just wanted to leave. Obviously we didn't want to give a tip of 10% , but they insisted so much that it was impossible to say no, so if you still want to try this place prepare a high level of assertiveness so you don't feel like a fool when going back home/room/hotel whatever . To resume: TOURIST TRAP. (I am just so sure the people who leave good reviews have been paid or are good friends who I hope get a fair treatment 😩)

We were waiting for 30 minutes in half empty place. The waiters were circulating around and did not react on our tries to bring their attention. We just left without any service. Highly unrecommended. This place is a shame to legendary Czech hospitality and beer traditions.

The salad I ordered had an egg that was supposed to be warm ,was cold, and had too much mayonnaise in it. Crockets were not crusty and fries were too salty. My friends ordered light and dark beer, both of them were warm and were impossible to drink. The beer was no good as well. Service was quick but it didn't worth it.

We have been waiting for a waiter for 30 minutes for ordering. Waiter just walked around and do not pay attention to us. Do not waste you time in this place.

The restaurant features authentic homemade style Czech cuisine. Huge portions, delicious comfort food and quick service. Even though this place is located in a touristic area, it’s also a famous spot among locals because of the great food, and low prices. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to try real Czech cuisine without being ripped-off.

Beer is great and cheap as always in Prague. The staff was really nice and helpful, food was great too, the pork knuckle was huge I struggled to finish it. The accept cards. Top place.

The duck (kachna) and beef (svíčková) were not freshly made, they were heated up. The meat was quite dry and the dishes weren't warm enough. The amount of beef was too little, maybe 100 grams. It did taste okay and the waiters are nice enough but still wouldn't recommend going here.

We ordered pork, which was not even medium rare but rare. After arguing with the waitress and then with the chef, he roasted it better. Dough in another dish was spongy and unedible. Prices are high and not worth the quality. Only beer from the brewery was good. Overall, not recommended

Incredibly relaxing, especially after a long few days of walking and sightseeing. Also, a great way to warm up on a cold day in Prague! Price is super reasonable considering the experience and beer you receive as part of it. Highly recommend! We also came here to eat a few nights earlier and were more than happy with the service and food. Servers were friendly and helpful, food and beer were very tasty!

This restaurant belongs to the brewery hotel from 1400s. The beer, of course, was great. We tried some traditional dishes, it was delicious. Great value of money as well, welcoming service

Good amount of food at a decent price - pork knuckle was massive and great with the mustard and horseradish. Wait staff knows some English so not too hard to order, but may take a while to get serviced. Overall good

The facility is clean and spacious. It looked like the place is built out of an old wine cellar. The local beers are very good. Food was decent, but nothing special. There are some interesting items on the menu. I ordered roast pork, and it was a bit dry without much flavor. Dessert selection was limited, and was just okay. It appeared to be more of a brewery/pub/bar, instead of a restaurant. The price was not bad.

Fantastic Czech pub. This is the first restaurant I visited when I came to Prague. This is a traditional pub with delicious Czech food, great beer, and a fantastic atmosphere inside. It doesn't matter what kind of beer you prefer, dark or light; it is definitely worth visiting this place.

The most delicious beer I've ever had in my life! Their house beer is delicious, half brown. We had pork snitzel and burger, which were both delicious and the portions were big. We were also very pleased with the service and the price was affordable!

The food is okay, but the service makes you feel like you are not welcome. The whole atmosphere in the restaurant is not really welcoming. If you want to have a quick, solid meal, this is the right place for you.

Food was absolutely terrible. School cantine level. Had the marinated pumpkin with poached egg and potatoes. I would cook it better myself while being blindfolded. Potato not even cooked enough. Beer was quite good. Service ok. Only 50% of the waiters were rude.

Delicious Dinner! We’ve got seated right away without having a reservation. Had some pretty nice waiters who recommended us the best beer for our interest. The food was amazing and we will definitely come back! It can get quite noisy if there are bigger groups in the restaurant.

Enjoyed a great meal including beer cheese, liver pate, and goulash. Beers were tasty as well. Very reasonably priced. Fast service as well, the waiters help each other out. Nice t-shirts too.

Ate there our first night in Prague. Food was great. Wine was awesome but, they would only give us an ounce at a time when we could clearly see full glasses being passed to locals. The waiter was also rather rude and the other waiter in our section could not keep his eyes off the girls heading to the washroom. Tilting his head and all. Despite this, we went back our last night. Close to our accommodations after a lot of walking and we were looking forward to the sips of nice local wine. The second time was not great. Food was just ok and the wine was vinegar. When asked about the wine we had the first night they said they only had one wine and that was that. We could clearly see the other wine being served to locals. I insisted to have the other wine and they said there was no other wine. I left the glass full because it was not drinkable.

We loved our stay. The location was great and walkable to all the main attractions. The staff were incredibly accommodating and pleasant. The food at the beer hall was fantastic and reasonably priced. We don’t have a single bad thing to say about our experience.

Only visited the bar... Had tasty basic Czech pub food and a selection of the bars great beers. Staff when busy can be a little abrupt... But not a problem when there are people queueing out of the door, we turned up at a very busy time and were able to be seated without fuss. They have an interesting selection of bottled beers and beer related souvenirs. You book tours of the brewery.

We were only in the restaurant, i love it when the food is great and only after you had it comes to your mind that you should have take a picture of it. No fuss just tasty food. Don’t expect hand kissing from the waiters, they just there doing their job and that’s it.

We were at the restaurant in September 2021. A wonderful atmosphere is created by the guys-waiters of this cozy institution. Very polite, kind, smiling guys will always help you choose what your soul wants. We got a food orgasm from a delicious duck melting in our mouth, dark, pink beer and sausages. When are in Prague, we will definitely visit your restaurant again.

Restaurant visit while in Prague. The welcome wasn't great initially but they warmed up. We really enjoyed the traditional food and the beer. Interesting venue, the people complaining there's no music playing, make your own atmosphere!

Staff was friendly and speaks basic English. They were helpful. Location is a typical beer hall, but with some separations so sit at your own.

Great Prague pub for Pilsner Urquell and traditional Czech fare. Plenty of beer snacks to choose from as well as substantial meals. I really enjoyed the beer cheese which is a lot different from the American beer cheese that I’m used to!

The pork knuckle was so tender and tasty. The fatty part was like butter. One portion is big enough for two really hungry men. The beers are amazing as well, both the budvar and the oldgott are easy to drink.

If you're in the mood for a traditional, beer-drinking and food-eating experience, this is the place to go. The roast duck was outstanding and the garlic soup left a lasting impression. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Nice location. Very good and fast friendly service as restaurant only 1/4 full lunch time. Staff that dealt with us spoke perfect English. Good choice of food and beer. Chesnut beer and goulash was very nice indeed. Highly recommended. Many locals in says it all. Very reasonable prices. Stars rating based on value and service.

Beer is pretty good and good is great. I go here every time I'm in Prague. The service is always fast and efficient and the food somehow never disappoints despite the speed it's brought to the table.

We were really looking forward to eating here! Great reviews, good reputation. Would have loved to try the pork knuckle. Sadly our slightly unorganised friend, Ed, didn’t managed to book it in time. Make sure you book! Don’t be an Ed.

We were a big group prepared to spend good money, but nobody took care of us. The place was almost empty, yet I had to beg the waiter to pay attention to us. He spilled the wine all over the table, letting it jist soak into the table cloth. He was bored, not delivering any service we deserve since the prices are NOT low!

Nice place actually it's more like a pub. You can get there good both pork and beef meat. It was a conference dinner and I could choose among 4 dishes. However I observed a large offer of prepared meal. The beer was great, I get to the concussion that the Czech better do not have much alcohol but is tasty. Thus, you can enjoy more:).

Very good homemade beer at a good price where you can also have some good food. Dont expect fancyness, its a breweryy 😃

  • 1/5 Eugene I. 2 years ago on Google
This is the "restaurant" review, not hotel or pub. Extremely incompetent staff, these folks have no idea what customer service is. I wasn't able to get a beer or food after wasting 20 min here. The communication is non-existent. I have no idea why this restaurant is even attracting any customers. If you want to go back to the USSR to get a screw-you service, this is the place.

  • 3/5 Paul C. 2 years ago on Google
I arrived here after searching on www for a brewery that have goulash in menu. I found some, I chose this one because it was closer to the place where I was. Arriving at the scene, surprise, they had no goulash. So I drank a beer and I hit the road. The beer, good. Otherwise, nothing special. You can pay by card.

The location is great, rooms are nice and spacious, but there was some mold in the bathroom shower. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday but the vacuum is not done and the towels were not replaced on a daily basis. The staff is overall ok except for two lady staffs in the reception who were a bit racist which was not nice at all. Other staff were fine. Restaurant staff are ok, breakfast is good. But other meals have poor vegetarian options. Even the non-vegetarian options have extra large size which one person cannot finish themselves. If you have booked the room for n days and have to cut your trip short in n-2 days they still charge you for n days which is a bit too much.
