Nothing special to be frank comparing to St. Vitus Cathedral 1. The architecture style of both of the buildings are different. One is Romanesque style and has a long history. St Vitus Cathedral is built in Gothic Style and has a shorter history. 2. Apart from both of these differences, there is nothing magnificent I can find from the church. 3. It is being renovated so it is not looking good from the outside too.

Stunning basilica with a rich history and incredible architecture. Its stone walls and interior decorations transport you to the past and evoke a sense of reverence and awe. This place is truly unique and I would highly recommend stopping by. Such a spiritual adventure 👍

The Basilica of St George is one of the churches within the grounds of Prague Castle complex and is supposed to be one of the oldest. Obviously the church has undergone many changes over the centuries and the current Baroque facade only dates back to the 17th century. Because much of the church was destroyed in the intervening centuries, the church was rebuilt with the asme Baroque facade, but the interiors have been restored to the original Romanesque form. The Romanesque interior is fairly austere and monumental at the same time. The tombs of members of the ruling Premyslid dynasty are situated in the main nave, including Prince Vratislav, father of St. Wenceslas (he’s buried somewhere else). There’s a two sided stairwell leading up to the high altar which was quite unusual. Overall, I enjoyed visiting the church for it’s contrasting styles and unusual features. I think it’s worth a look if visiting Prague Castle.

You can sit down and relax a bit while visiting the Castle in this Basilica. It's a really old basilica with nothing much in it. So, you can just have a rest and imagine the history of the place.

Roman church on Hradczany, the first church on it’s place was built in 920. The monastery that is situated near the church was responsible for educating the royal family. After the year 1500 the facade of church got renaissance look, and after 1670 it was completely made into baroque style. The interior remains Roman though, the church is right now the main place for organ concerts in Prague. In the church there are also some graves of people from the royal family.

A continuity with the other attractions here, there is very little information to be read about the attractions within. There is a paragraph of information for every 3-5 attractions which leaves you wondering about the significance behind a lot. There is a lot of sitting room which is a good rest stop for anyone in their feet all day, but the attractions were crowded and there honestly wasn’t much to see. If you have time, see what this small place has to offer (look at the attached for references), but don’t plan your trip around it and don’t expect too much.

(Translated by Google) Behind the beautiful baroque west façade there is an old, Romanesque three-nave temple, on the walls of which fragments of 13th-century frescoes have been preserved. Currently, the Basilica is a place where you can listen to concerts of organ music quite often. One of Prague’s most significant Romanesque monuments, this is the city’s second oldest church and was founded around 920 AD. Standing on Jiřské náměstí, the church is dominated by its two white stone steeples, which reach a height of 41 m. The wider southern tower is called Adam; the narrower northern tower is called Eve and stands at a slight tilt (about 40 cm). The Romanesque interior of the basilica with the tomb of the Přemyslids is included in the Prague Castle guided tour.

Although dwarfed by the neighbouring cathedral, St. George's Basilica is still impressive in it's own right, with the Romanesque architecture of the facade offering a dramatic contrast to the Gothic styling of St. Vitus'. (Translated by Google) Unfortunately, at the moment you can't visit alone ..., a combined ticket for 250 Czechs. crowns and you visit St. Vitus, the Old Palace, Golden Street and the Basilica of St. George ...... I think the ticket is valid for two days. It may seem a little simple, but it is related to the Czech royal dynasty. The basilica was built in 920 by Prince Vratislav. Expanded in 973, when a monastery was built next to it. Perhaps it is more interesting that here are the sarcophagi of the royal dynasty Przemyslow-Wroclaw and Boleslaw. Princess Ludmila / widow of Prince Borivoj / is also buried here. She is the first Christian martyr of Bohemia / strangled by order of her stepdaughter Drago. (Translated by Google) St. George's Basilica (in Czech Bazilika Sv. Jiří) is the oldest surviving church inside Prague Castle. It was the abbey church of the homonymous monastery. Inside, a Gothic-style chapel dedicated to Ludmilla of Bohemia houses the saint's tomb. The construction of the first basilica on the ground of the next monastery was started by Duke Vratislao I. When he died in 921, the construction was already finished but the church had not yet been consecrated. [1] Only his son Wenceslas I of Bohemia concluded the project. In 925 he buried the body of his grandmother Ludmilla of Bohemia and the church was consecrated for this reason. The basilica assumed a prominent position in those early days of the spread of Christianity in Bohemia. His collegiate church was in the center of the territory until the foundation of the archdiocese of Prague. From 976 on the north side of the basilica the first monastery building was erected and the basilica served as an abbey church. The original three-nave building was completed with a choir, a tribune for the nuns and a crypt. During the siege of Prague in 1142, the church and convent suffered heavy damage caused by a fire. The damage was repaired between 1145 and 1151 and two towers were added to the church on that occasion. In the years 1364-1378 the abbess Elisabetta completed the renovation of the chapel of Santa Ludmilla in the Gothic style attule; the chapel altar was consecrated in 1371 by Archbishop Jan Očko z Vlašimi. Between 1608 and 1612 Abbess Sofia of Helfenburg had a large choir for the nuns erected in the western part of the central nave. In the late 17th century the Baroque facade was built. Between 1717 and 1722 the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk was erected, the work of František Kaňka.
