Neo-Baroque rental house from 1895-97, built during the redevelopment of the Old Town according to the project of R. Kříženecký on the site of two demolished Baroque houses. It´s remarkable façade is made especially by a number of sculptures and plastic art - the authors of the beautiful sculptural decoration of the house were the Czech sculptors Vilím Amort, Jindřich Říha and Josef Kropáček. Especially unique is the front of the house, which contains a number of sandstone sculptures. These gems include, for example, sculptures of giants who carry a bay on their shoulders on the corner of the building. During his youth, the writer F. Kafka lived here for some time. One of the original houses in the 17th century belonged to the Dutch tanner Engel, who first made hard leather soles in Prague - thanks to this invention he got so rich that he bought the noble title and the estate of Mníšek pod Brdy. The Schier House was heavily damaged during World War II, so extensive reconstruction under the guidance of architects Jaroslav Stránský and Karel Storchem took place between 1946 and 1949. Novobarokní nájemní dům z let 1895–97, vystavěný v době asanace Starého města podle projektu R. Kříženeckého na místě dvou zbořených barokních domů. Jeho pozoruhodnou fasádu dotváří především množství soch a plastik - autory překrásné sochařské výzdoby domu byli čeští sochaři Vilím Amort, Jindřich Říha a Josef Kropáček. Především unikátní je průčelí domu, které obsahuje množství pískovcových soch. K těmto skvostům se řadí například plastiky gigantů, kteří na svých ramenou nesou arkýř na rohu budovy. V mládí zde po nějakou dobu bydlel spisovatel F. Kafka. Jeden z původních domů v 17. století patřil holandskému koželuhovi Engelovi, který jako první v Praze vyráběl podrážky z tvrdé kůže - díky tomuto vynálezu natolik zbohatl, že si koupil šlechtický titul a panství Mníšek pod Brdy. Schierův dům byl velmi poškozen během druhé světové války, proto tu v letech 1946 – 1949 probíhala rozsáhlá rekonstrukce pod vedením architektů Jaroslava Stránského a Karla Storchema.
