Built to commemorate the Habsburg dynasty the fountain was constructed between 1845 and 1850. The fountain base is polygonal and has sixteen figures representing the Czech regions mounted on its pillars. A seventeenth figure representing Prague faces the river in the forefront. Higher up are more figures related to activities that brought wealth to the area. In 1919 after the decoration of the independent Czechoslovakia, the Statue of Emperor Franz Joseph 1 was removed. In 2003 when the fountain was reconstructed a replica was placed back into the memorials stela. Fantastic monument, but maybe they could clean the stone to remove the years of dirt that has built up.

Something that caught my eye as I was walking down the road away from Charles Bridge. I was on the other side of the road so I wasn't able to get a good look but it did look really interesting and very intricaly carved. I probably would have stopped if it was during the day to see it better.

This is monument of Francis was number one and two, want to know why? Francis was the last Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. His full title was Francis II. The Holy Roman Empire collapsed due to the French revolution when Napoleon crowned himself Emperor of France. Francis II got inspired and became the Emperor of Austria and changed his name to Francis the First. Both emperors were at war with each other at that time. Francis kept his title as the king of Bohemia which is now part of the Czech Republic.

Historical value monument located next to main road. Accessible by any pedestrian. But not sure why they left it looks rundown, dirty, dark n could look creepy at night. Probably they want to maintain the originality looks since it was first built

It's a fountain, it's pretty big and fancy. Good place to rest in the shade while walking to the Charles bridge or the beer museum pub.

Off the tourist trail a bit. Lots of graffiti only the way Czech people can make it an art form. The location of the old Starlin statue. Good place for coffee 800 meters always on the right looking towards the river.

Wirklich ein ganz netter Ort um eine kleine Pause vom spazieren durch die Stadt einzulegen. Hier hat man ebenfalls einen tollen Blick auf die Moldau.
