The beautiful Gothic Roman Catholic parish church in Apolinářská Street was founded by Charles IV. The construction of the church took place in two stages. During the first stage, approximately between 1360–1376, a longitudinal main nave with five vaulting fields was built. A few years later the construction of the tower on the south side of the church also started. During the second stage of construction, the presbytery was completed. Completion of the whole building dates back to 1390. In 1670 the building was damaged by a storm, therefore a year later followed by reconstruction, during which the church was partially redone in Baroque form. The second wave of reconstruction was related to the occupation of the church by the Prussian army in 1757. In the 19th century, static cracks appeared on the church, so it was decided that the church would be repaired again and regotized. The reconstruction was undertaken by architect Josef Mocker.
