Born in Sikh family is a blessing. We got physically and mentally trained for battles. Our history and our ancestors always inspired us to to be worriers. This is one the reason that Sikh regiment has been deployed on sensitive borders in India. I got the opportunity to visit Prague in September 2015. Everyone asked me to visit Prague castle. Everything about this castle is unique and wonderful. The architecture of this building is really very impressive. It reflects Gothic and Roman architecture that is what I was told. But as a layman, I can say with surety that I love Prague castle. There are many sections of this complex including many churches and a museum with is dedicated to the medieval weaponry. Czech has been pioneered in weapon making and till today check pistols are world popular. The weaponry section has showcased some of very interesting artefacts that were used in battles and some of them for personal use. The armoury has quite spectrum of weapons including Guns, maces, swords, knifes, bows and arrows, and big canons. This was the most interesting part of visit. There was a room just close the weapons room especially build for torture. ancient tools have been on display that were used to torture people or even execution. The sight was horrific. No one wants to be in that room even in their dreams. The display of weapons in the room has been cataloged with numbers and the name of the weapon. They were classified and dispelled accordingly in different sections. I tried to have photographs of all of the weapons from different angles. I wish you all the best for your journey and please be safe. Wear your mask.

This exhibit is on Golden Lane and is an exhibition of torture methods and armoury. There's a steep climb up some narrow staircases were there's about 6 rooms of exhibitions. Most of the collection are of a good standard, but mostly just a collection of stuff with some small explanatory labels.

Only reason to go there is for a good laugh. None of the stuff they show is actually old and good chunk of the armour and weaponry they show is just made up and completely ahistorical. Look at these helmets: no one ever wore something like this

(Translated by Google) A little out of the way Located in the grounds of Prague Castle down Golden lane street on the left we arrive on a large terrace overlooking the city. And on the left a round tower often forgotten. At the entrance we are greeted by a skeleton and a detention cage. Then a room with torture instruments of the time. In the basement another room with oubliettes (which are used to make a wish according to the number of visible coins). It does not take much time it is open with the ticket of the visit and it deserves a detour. Be careful, the stairs leading to the downstairs room do not allow you to cross each other.

The armor exhibit is in the top of the castle wall walk. Where the guards would watch or defend the castle. That historical part was interesting. The other part, the armor was not so much. It was comprised completely of modern reproductions of armors, and they were wrong. The shaping and proportion and fabrication was all inept. If you know nothing about armour then it would be fine, but if you have knowledge of the historical pieces then you will be sorely disappointed.

I gave it 5 stars just for the sake of it being free. It was probably my favorite part of the whole Prague castle, but it was very hard to move around. The stairs are steep, the corridors are narrow and I can’t even imagine how bad it gets in the season. I loved the weaponry collection, the torture chamber and the armor. My only wish is that I could learn more about the history of individual pieces, or at least their purpose.

(Translated by Google) A torture chamber is a room where torture is inflicted. [3] [4] The medieval torture chamber was windowless and often built underground, lit by candles and was specifically designed to induce "horror, terror and despair" to anyone except those who possessed a strong mind and 'steel". [5] Historically, the torture chambers were located in the royal palaces, in the castles of the nobility and even in the buildings belonging to the church. They had a secret trap door that could be activated to throw victims into dark basements where they stayed and eventually died. The skeletal remains of the missing people were scattered on the floor of the hidden dungeons. Other times the ditches under the hatch included water wells where the victim was thrown to drown after a long torture session in the room above. [6] In Peru, the Inquisition's torture chambers were specially built with thick walls so that the screams of the victims could not penetrate them and no sound could be heard from outside. Other more sophisticated designs have used the principles of acoustics to muffle the screams of tortured walls and including walls that had recessed and protruded in such a way as to reflect the screams of the victims so that the sounds were not carried outside. The mere presence of the torture chamber was used as a form of intimidation and coercion. The victims were first shown in the room and if they had confessed they would not have been tortured inside. At other times the torture chamber was used as the final destination in a series of prison cells in which the victims would be gradually moved from one type of cell to another, in progressively worse conditions of incarceration, and if they had not withdrawn in the phases precedents would finally reach the torture chamber. The final stage of actually going to the same torture chamber, just before the torture began, was euphemistically called "Question". [1] Throughout history, torture chambers have been used in many ways since Roman times. The use of the torture chamber during the Middle Ages was frequent. Religious, social and political persecutions led to the widespread use of torture during that period. The torture chambers were also used during the Spanish Inquisition and at the Tower of London. [7] [8] [9] Another example of a torture chamber, not known by many, is "The Tower of Thieves" in the French region of Alsace. Once a tower used for torture, it is now a small museum displaying tools used on prisoners to induce them to confess to crimes. [10] In Venice, the Doge's Palace had its own torture chamber, which was considered of such importance that the renovations began in 1507 so that the walls of the chamber could be kept strong and safe: "manage the enormous importance of the chamber's camerots of torment that they are strong and secure ". [11]

You understand how creative human intelligence is, even if it is used for torture. The fact that there is a label with information about what the instrument is working with is a plus. You will be thankful that you have not lived in that dark period of humanity as you walk through the wooden, gloomy corridors.
