But we were very disappointed during the treatment. Since we have only got two embryos and no succuss with the first transfer, we will find a new clinic to continue our treatment if no success with the second round. Here are my complaints: 1. From the first skype consultation to the present appointment our coordinator kept rushing us to ask questions, as if we were wasting their time. 2. We got the prescription without being explained what they’re for, we only could look it up on internet. 3. After we bought the first round of medication, and came for the check-up at the clinic, the doctor and coordinator asked us if we have enough medicine. After our reply that we do not know and they need to tell us (we are only the patients) they gave a us a new prescription with way too many packs on it. We then needed to calculate ourselves how many packs we really need to buy. 4. We’re told to do the ultrasound in our own country and only after we finished it, we received the form requiring our doctor to fill in the result. 5. Our coordinator went on holiday during our treatment (which was okay), but didn’t communicate well enough with her back-up about the arrangement for us. 6. On the day of the first ultrasound check, they almost forgot to do the blood test for my husband. 7. On the day of transfer, I was told to be at the clinic at 8am, drank water before we went there as instructed. The coordinator first told me I only needed wait for 30 minutes or so. But in the end, I went to the OP-room for the transfer at around 10:30am, during the waiting time we had to pay for the freezing fee, waited for the invoice before we could continue, and I needed to go to toilet for 8 times to bit by bit release my bladder. 8. We were only told the quality of embryos when I was on the bed for the transfer and only after I asked twice. We did not get anything written, only verbally. They guarantee two high quality embryos, but there is no way to know that it’s true. 9. Is that because we didn't choose the "exclusive" package? Well then we could only say good-bye.

I will comment and rate the Unica clinic based on 3 aspects: communication - 2/5, expertise 2/5 and psychological aspect 1/5 (actually my rating is pure 0). I will explain in more detail below. 1. Communication - In the beginning, the communication was excellent, which attracted us to trust this clinic. They found a donor very quickly and that's practically the only positive thing I have to say about this clinic. During the procedure, communication becomes sparse, they need several days to respond to urgent emails with the results of ultrasound examinations, and the situation is especially complicated when the assigned coordinator is absent. In that case, you usually have to beg them for someone to answer you, without even getting an apology for the long wait. In particular, we had a rather bad experience with Nevena Saponjic, which was reflected in uncivilized treatment and/or lack of communication. 2. Expertise - Since the doctors do not speak English, the coordinator is the translator even during the transfer, which makes everything quite confusing and unpleasant experience. I wonder how those specialist doctors improve their knowledge when the field of reproductive medicine is very dynamic, and in order to become experts and keep up with scientific achievements, they have to read and write many papers in international journals, which are mostly in English. That's one of the reasons I doubt their expertise. The second reason is that in the in vitro fertilization procedures at this clinic, I have experienced that it is done automatically and that not all factors are taken into account (or are forgotten) when forming the protocol. - No one asks for bacteria analysis (vaginal and cervical), which is very important for a future pregnancy. I did it by my own. - There is no discussion with the embryologist about the quality of the embryos, which is done at other clinics. You practically do not know anything about the embryo whose transfer is carried out if you have chosen the basic package. In this way, there is a possibility of manipulation. - The result of progesterone, which is taken on the day of the transfer, is waited for 2 days! Then we get a result without reference values - non-transparent! - They do not consider that in some patients the vaginal absorption of progesterone decreases and that utrogestan is not enough. In other clinics, they also add progesterone injections, but not in Unica. 3. Psychological aspect - The psychological aspect of the patient is not taken into account at all, which should be a very important item in modern procedures of biomedical assisted fertilization. This is reflected in the previously mentioned lack of communication, as well as in the final report/instructions that the patient receives after the embryo transfer. It is inadmissible that in the short written instructions (and also verbally) to the women after the transfer, they mention miscarriage twice. Among the patients, there are women who have gone through many unsuccessful IVF procedures and also experienced miscarriages. Is it okay to stress that to them on transfer day?! The seriousness of regular use of prescribed therapy can be emphasized in another affirmative way without mentioning that difficult word miscarriage.

We had, at first, an impressive experience with Unica. However, it has become clear that the experience was not based on the clinic or its systems, but the individual that managed our case. Since then, we've had numerous coordinators and the experience has completely disintegrated. It is not only impossible to understand the tardy emails that arrive, but questions are not answered (over the last two weeks, a question has been asked four times and each time either ignored or an incomprehensible reply that doesnt reflect the subject matter). It is also blatantly clear that there is no case record management as we are asked the same things over and over. It has made us wary as clearly history is not considered in treatment plans, which is an essential part of ensuring success. Now, it feels like your success is not their success (and authentic success metrics are surely what creates good marketing and trust), and rather you are part of a factory. Moreover, you have to fulfil the role of coordinator or project manager, otherwise you will end up confused, upset and frustrated. Fertility is a hugely emotive subject and affects livelihoods immensely. It is sad when poor communication and lack of empathy leave you feeling dejected and hopeless. Unica, you have it in your gift to do better.

They are 7 hours ahead of us. They sent us the treatment plan, the itemized price list, etc. and we could understand how it would go and how much we would pay right away. They assign you a coordinator to help you with everything, A to Z. Our coordinator was Klara and we were SO SO BLESSED to have HER! She was always SWEET and KIND and willing to help us in small or big matters. She was so smart and thoughtful. There was another lady, named Pavla who responded to our emails at the beginning and she was also very kind and helpful. I really appreciate her, too, even though we did not get to meet her there. Anyways, there was no hassle or problem for us to enter Prague, Czech Republic though it was during the pandemic time thanks to the very detalied explanations and documents provided by Klara. When we first got to the UNICA Clinic, everyone at the reception desk was kind. Klara interpreted for us when we met the doctor Cepelak. We really liked the doctor Cepelak because he always had this big warm smile on his face. He makes the atmosphere very light and joyful by speaking in a caring way, smiling brightly. And we could see he knows what he's doing. After he checked my TSH level, he told me to take the thyroid medicine immediately to make the hormone level the most ideal to have babies. No previous doctors mentioned that to me. They would say, it is normal and that was it. Yes, it was in a normal range, but on the higher side of that normal range. We had such a terrible time there- the staff were rude, the doctors very brusque, the clinic shabby and the whole experience felt like a huge money making opportunity for them. We were not given clear information about our treatment or how much it would cost. There was no human touch. We wasted lots of money and time and felt very despondent. We eventually found our way to UNICA. The experience has been entirely the opposite. Our first meeting was eye opening. We had a very frank discussion with a doctor who told us what our tests results meant and how it was almost impossible to get pregnant naturally. We had had these results for years and no one had, up to this point, even told us this basic fact. She laid out our treatment options and we felt for the first time informed about our situation, our chances and our treatment. We were so grateful. The clinic is calm and clean. I have never seen it overcrowded. When you arrive you don't have to wait for hours and if things are delayed you are informed. She saw me when I woke up from the anesthesia. She said sometimes "there is magic" and we think that's what she is. I feel quite emotional writing this. It was the happiest experience for us. And whether or not we have a baby we will always be grateful to every one at UNICA who provided such brilliant care.

After 6 months of research and reflection, we selected on Unica Prague as our destination to start our fertility journey. Not only was the staff well trained, the communication was flawless in English and every step was handled with great care and attention. The stresses about fertility and IVF are high and the Unica team provided a warm and nurturing experience at every step of the way.
