Incredible view from the tower. Although there is one problem in the morning it is difficult to take the best shots of the view on the old town from the tower due to the sun rising exactly from the east (orient) side where sitting the old town is. Therefore would be wise climb up on the tower about the lunch time or later. I was there in the earlier morning and photographs are clearly not the clearest because the sun was rising. Still interesting shots and beautiful views but could get possible a more convenient view later on that day. Nevertheless it's still a good trip to get up on the top of the Tower. There is waiting for you 283 stairs in a circled build up and there is no change as you can see on the photos and that is the same until the top of the tower. The view on the top I do consider is safe to stand and walk there due to the still pipes circles around the top which give you more confidence staying there and taking photos but still clear view to see around from the tower. It is worth purchasing another ticket as the view is another experience to see from a different perspective (saying from my own experience) the castle and St. Vitus Cathedral with all places around.

Fantastic panoramic view of Prague from the top of the hill. The tower stairs are challenging for some as there is no landing space in the middle to catch your breath and narrow (as always for old tower stairs are) but it is well worth and rewarding. It is shame that so many mindless tags at the top floor.

Ticket for the tower are bought separately and the price is around 150 ZCK (~750 RSD or ~6 EUR). The tower was built in 4 centuries starting from the 14th century. There are 287 (I counted XD but it also says it on the entrance display information) and you may feel like quitting on your way up - don’t! The view is from out of this world!

View Prague from this tower is amazing. It cost 150 kc to visit. Credit cards are accepted. It took over 280 steps to get on top which was challenge. Staircase is narrow and sometimes is hard to get around people coming from opposite direction. There are no rest areas.

People with respiratory problems like asthma should not try to climb up there . For sure the view it’s something magnificent, but I heard someone say... I pay entrance to die !!!! I still laughing with that... But honestly be careful if you decide to go up there .

Excellent example of Gothic architecture. 14th century. Need to climb 280 steps for the top of St Vitus' south tower. Nice panoramic 360 degrees view on St Vitus Cathedral, Prague Castle, Charles bridge, historical downtown and entier Prague from the gallery on top of Great South Tower.

While it is quite the trek up all the stairs (especially if you're tall) it's definitely worth it! Try to time you arrival at the top around the top of the hour so you can witness the clock mechanism doing its magic. If you want to ruin the fun, stop by the dark window in the staircase right below the mechanism and shine a light in the room. (You'll see some LEDs on the far wall) The whole thing has been electrified and computerized!! Cheaters!!! On your way down ensure to spend time looking at what's behind the small windows, I found this one of the coolest parts of the experience.

There are 278 steps to the top, but the views from the top are amazing. Worth a visit while you are up at Prague Castle

Nearly 300 steps, which is tiring but it is worth the view. It's a very peaceful place up there and you can see all the city from above. Highly recommended.

So worth the 278 steps! Spectacular view! The staircase is quite small.

Great views at the top. Definitely worth the climb. The clock mechanism has been fully restored and fascinating watching it work when the bells are about to ring (if your into that sort of thing).

Feels like your going to pass out but the views are breathtaking, standing upon such engineering and seeing the city from one of the most highest points in the city is worth the money spent! The grounds are free but the climb is ticketed

Of course we walked up these 287 steps on the spiral staircase and were rewarded with a magnificent view over Prague.

The circular staircase is quite tight and a bit nerve racking but the views at the top are totally worth it. You gotta get a ticket to enter which can be bought by the entrance to the cathedral. The entrance to the tower is on the right side of the cathedral.

Incredible view from the top the only thing that I don’t like is that they have Iron fence and if you want to take photo with you and panorama view the metal bars will be behind you. Price for the entrance is cheap and the tickets includes only the visits of the tower and not all of the other things you can and must visit in the old Prague castle. There are 300 stairs to climb so prepare and when you come on top you’ll see the old mechanism of a clock.
