I entered a random TaiChi contest from AKKA Karate Olathe on FB in December 2016; holy crap, I actually won! The next month, on a whim, when I told them I wanted to start Karate lessons as well, they didn't laugh at the thought of this almost 60 year old grandma starting a martial arts practice. Fast forward three months. . . . and I'm a gold belt! This school is an incredible place. There are entire families practicing here, which tells me of the character and principles, and I've not met any senior belts yet who have an out of control ego or who aren't sincerely willing to help anyone who asks. Many thanks to Amy Leverknight and Wendee Peres for moral support and getting this introvert out of her shell <3 Gratitude to Mr. Anthony Williams for the existence of the school, and most of all to my primary instructor (and the dude behind the scenes and therefore not in the picture), Mr. Travis Bradbury for having the patience of a saint. So freaking excited!!!

I signed my 3 boys up in 2000 because I wanted them to learn self-discipline and have more confidence. I joined a month later to share the experience. All 3 of my sons achieved the rank of Black Belt. One started at age 6 and earned 6 Black Belts. One earned the rank of 4th degree Black Belt. They all grew to be better men because of AKKA. They also went through the Boy Scout program. That is the 1- 2 punch of character building. I am still a student, teacher and proud member of this fine organization.

I have studied martial arts for the better part of 30 years in various styles. I have had a handful of instructors over my martial arts time. I had the pleasure of training at Olathe AKKA with Anthony Williams for approx 10 years. Where I was able to achieve my 4th degree black belt. Anthony runs his school with great devotion to his students and the art of Chinese kenpo. Not only will you learn of value of self defense. You will become a better version of yourself along the way. Its a great atmosphere to learn with alot of good prople. I really enjoyed my time at the school was a great experience. It's always good to look around when joining a martial arts school. I would recommend you give Olathe AKKA a look and you will find yourself a martial arts home where u can learn in an enviroment that is both positive and constructive Not to mention an effective form of self defense. Great place, even better people. Daughter has Karate here twice a week and loves it. Lots of activities throughout the year, and the owner is very engaged, teaching classes often.

My boys have gained so much from going to AKKA Karate. I wanted them to gain confidence and learn self-defense and that is definitely what has happened. The instructors are respectful towards the kids and work hard to help them achieve their goals. Even on the days my kids are feeling a little lazy, I see them smiling once they get in there and get engaged in the fun activities. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, they are like family!

I could not have asked for a better experience for my son. We have participated in Olathe sports like soccer and T-ball before and had good experiences, but this place, AKKA Karate, has been by far the best thing for our son. The instructors are knowledgeable and caring. I was impressed by the instruction they gave on self-defense, safety, and self-control, in addition to everything else. Well worth the money.

I can not begin to explain in a review what this school has been for our family. We started about 5 years ago after one of the instructors taught a 6 week class at our elementary school. My oldest daughter and my husband started together (at the time she was 7). We wanted her to build confidence and learn how to defend herself if she ever needed to. Little did we know then, what that would truly mean 4 years down the road at their black belt test. Karate teaches you to strive for little goals to achieve a bigger goal. At each belt you can look back you can see the progress you've made and know that you are better than you were the last time. You are stronger and more confident. You don't have to compete against someone else to in order to get ahead because you are all working for the same goals. You cheer each other on because you have been there before and you know what it felt like...and that builds this incredible family of support. A family that isn't just there for you in class, but goes "beyond the mats" to support you, celebrate with you, build you up and challenge you to be a better person. Since that time 4 years ago, our entire family of 5 are all taking at least one or more classes at the school (Karate, Storm, Tai Chi, MMA, Fitness Kickboxing and Little Dragons). I can't say enough about all of the instructors. They are humble and knowledgeable. They will challenge you and take time to help when you need it. They are kind but expect our very best. I respect each them and the time they have put into our school and our students.

Two of my sons are currently enrolled here and they are loving their classes. They are constantly learning new things and their teacher Mr. Clay really goes above and beyond to make sure they are where they need to be. I couldn’t be happier. Money well spent without a doubt.

AKKA has been a great addition for our son. Offering learning and discipline at the same time is what we were looking for. The instructors have been phenomenal at handling the kids which are all in the same age group but may have different skill levels allowing the kids to not only focus on improvement for themselves, but helping other kids learn too! Mr. Bradberry, Ms. Green and Mr. Clay have all shown their skills and knowledge of the sport which makes us comfortable and inspired that our child will be progressing at a pace they can handle. We enjoy being a part of the AKKA Karate group!

I decided when both of my daughters were 5 & 6 years old to look into AKKA in Olathe. I felt they needed to learn self defense for their own self confidence and protection as they got older. The following Monday I joined myself not wanting my daughters to try something I wasn’t prepared to do myself. It was an incredible journey for all 3 of us that no one can take away. Keep in mind, the relationships and friends you make will always be there and most of them are Black Belts! Some pretty good company to have!

I started at AKKA Olathe in my moms stomach while my brother and dad started classes back in 1995. By 1996 when i was born i was doing remodeling of there first locations by eating paint chips off the wall. Turned 4 and i finally was able to take classes, tiny tigers they called it at the time. This is where i learned the foundation of what grew to be a 13 year journey to achieving the honor of earning my jr 2nd degree black belt. My experience with the organization has helped me become the man i am today. It takes a community to raise a kid and my parents found a darn good one in AKKA Olathe. Now i am an actor living in atlanta following my dream using what i learned from karate to navigate life. Akka olathe may haved moved locations over the years, but there principals and dedication to teaching honest courtesy respect discipline and self control onto the growing and developing youth minds and adults alike. Teaching adults and lil dragons how to be in touch with their bodys minds and souls. Discussing in class what it means to put it all together and how to find peace. If you're looking for a place to learn and grow this is the place for you, especially in todays time where the internet is so in our faces, we need to disconnect and get back in touch with ourselves. That is some important. GO TAKE CLASSES!!

👍👍 My 8yo son has autism and he can be difficult to work with on activities like this, that require focus and discipline.
