After paying $230 (!!) for our family to enjoy the escape room for an hour, I was shocked to discover they literally docked us 8 minutes because my daughter started casually looking around a few items on a nearby shelf while the employee was talking to us about the rules before the timer began. Seriously?! We got punished? We had ONE STEP LEFT to escape when our hour **minus 8 minutes** was over. So we didnā€™t escape. And they didnā€™t tell us beforehand we would lose 8 minutes for such a minor ā€œinfractionā€. Thatā€™s a lot of time in an escape room that only lasts an hour. And we left with a VERY bad impression of this business and it deflated our fun. Two of my nieces, 12 years oldā€”it was their first time in an escape room and they were really disappointed because they knew we would have escaped had it not been for this punishment. That was the worst of allā€¦ seeing their disappointment and knowing how thrilled they would have been to escape. They were visiting from Connecticut and specifically asked if we could do an escape room with them. I definitely will choose another of the MANY KC escape rooms to drop $230 for a full HOUR of escape room fun in the future. This place takes themselves waaaaay too seriously and it feels like they want you to lose. Go to the sorcerer room at the escape room at 69 Hwy and 151st. The employees there are genuinely hoping you will escapeā€¦ not reducing your minutes in the hopes that you wonā€™t.

I did the hardest room with my friend's family and had a blast! There was no point where I felt that the room was impossible to escape from, but at the same time, it was still challenging to escape. Well recommended.

Adelle was fabulous!!!! We took a group of students for a team/leadership building activity. Adele was super friendly, welcoming to our students, and supportive during and after the experience. I would recommend Breakout to any school. Adelle deserves credit for being an incredible employee.

We did Undercover & had a blast! The room was really cool with interesting details & fun clues to find! Our amazing guide, Makynzie, was so sweet & helped at the perfect moments when we needed it! We didnā€™t solve it in the end, but got so close & I canā€™t wait to go back, highly recommend!!

My partner and I walked by Breakout KC, decided to go in, and Sydney welcomed us in! She was very very kind and immensely helpful while we were in the breakout room. It was both our first times doing the breakout room and we had an absolute blast. I highly recommend this as a great team-bonding activity!

Thanks for a great experience! We booked this somewhat last minute and it turned out so fun. Geoffrey was a great game guide too!

Work trip to KC so a few of us decided to find something fun to do. Breakout KC did not disappoint, we did the Y2K escape room. Unfortunately we were a couple of minutes from completing the challenge and getting out, but the puzzles were challenging and it was a great time!

Iā€™ve been to two other Breakout locations, but this was my first time at the Park Place location. I always have a good experience when I go and this time was no different. My friends and I decided to do the hardest room, Undercover. It was pretty challenging yet still super fun (and we successfully escaped). Our game guide, Sophie, was great. From the moment we walked through the door she was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed having her as our game guide, and we will definitely be back.

This was my first ever escape room and I had a BLAST!! Never thought I'd finish my first experience, but we slid to a win in the very last second!! Literally, I slid to solve the last clue and had 1 second to spare lol Emily was our game master person. She was awesome and gave us an extra clue for the low low price of doing the macarena dance lol. Best birthday EVER!!

Fun escape room experience. My husband and I went by ourselves and we solved may be 80% of it. Our game guide Emily was fun and helpful with clues. We did Y2K. Weā€™ll definitely be back for the other rooms. Weā€™ll probably try the easiest one next time if weā€™re only 2 people. Located in a nice part of town - would recommend this place if youā€™re looking for something fun to do.

We had a great time at Breakout KC! Gracie was an awesome game guide! We were so close to breaking out of national security.

Everyone here is so kind and has amazing customer service! Had an issue lately and talked privately with Kenzie, their GM, and she handled it swiftly and with so much kindness. They even offered to tone down the music and other accommodations for my group as one of us is autistic and Emily is an amazing host! All the Breakout locations around here are amazing and I'm grateful to have spent so much time having so much fun here! :)

The Y2K room was perfect for my daughter's 10th birthday! It was bright and cheery. It had a lot of physical locks which were fun for the kids to attempt. Everything was clean and well kept. Our game guide Emily was very nice and helpful- even kept us up to speed on the score of the Chiefs game! šŸ˜

This was a blast! Fun puzzles that were difficult but not obscure. A great evening. Anna was a wonderful game guide; letting us play without interference and only providing some gentle guidance when necessary to keep us on the right path.

My group of five did the Y2K room and had a blast. Our game master was very kind and friendly. The room might be a little tight for groups that are much larger, as we had to be mindful of each otherā€™s places in some tighter spots, but not enough to cause us problems. Would recommend.

Our family had a fabulous time! The folks running the show were so fun and helpful (especially when we were all mad at each other, Ha!). We will 100% recommend Y2K for all the "escape room" friends we have! Can't wait to come back.

Sydney W. Was great. We tried the National Security and loved it. It was challenging for just my wife and I but definitely worth it. Everything was explained clearly and the rest of the staff were down to earth. We definitely recommend this company. We will definitely be going back to try another room. You won't be disappointed.

There were two of us, and we did the ā€œNational Securityā€ room. We had never done one of these before, so we went in before we booked to ask some questions. The first man we talked to (I didnā€™t get his name) gave us the full run down and was so helpful in choosing a room that was right for us! Then the booking process was also so easy. When we got there Grant was so friendly and helpful. While we were in the room he was absolutely amazing helping us navigate everything and made everything just that much more enjoyable! Unfortunately we were so close to getting it solved but I canā€™t even be mad we didnā€™t make it all the way because it was just all around enjoyable!

Lots of fun! I highly recommend the civil war room. Sydney was a great game master. The National Secret room wasn't bad. Under Cover was fun, too. Both civil war and under Cover had puzzles that required 2 or 3 people working together to solve, which I liked a lot.

My friends and I always love doing escape rooms, and every time we get together in KC, we always have to come to Breakout. The puzzles are always challenging, and the whole experience is always a very fun time. Our moderator, Sydney, was super nice, friendly, and wonderful the entire time. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to do escape rooms!

This was so much fun! I had been wanting to do a breakout room with my family. We chose National Security at Breakout KC. The employees were friendly and helpful. The room itself was so much fun. We will definitely be back!

This place is INCREDIBLE. It was just myself and my girlfriend. We had booked the UNDERCOVER room and, honestly, it was a little overwhelming for us. Although the site says "2-8 people", the staff said it would be nearly impossible to do with 2. Thankfully, there was a glitch they were trying to fix and they ended up swapping us to the NATIONAL SECURITY room - which was incredible. My girlfriend and I LOVE escape rooms and have done a bunch together in different cities around the country, but this one was one of our top top top top favorites! Definitely check it out! And don't be afraid to ask for a clue. Happy escaping!

we went through the civil war room, and it was a fantastic experience! out game guide, Sydney W, did a great job at making sure it visit was smooth. the room was built and designed very well, with fantastic special effects. we're no strangers to escape rooms, and this is my favorite so far. the clues had flow, so there was never any absurd jump as to what the clues were. definitely would come again!

National Security was awesome. this was all of our first times doing an escape room and we had no issues. Instructions were clear and understandable. Everyone in my party loved it and are wanting to go back again. At first I was unsure about how difficult it would be but it wasn't. You had to think about where stuff was in the room and connect it with other things.

Our group of 8 participated in the Y2K breakout room. It was fun and challenging. Although the physical space was very small the clues were well thought through and cleverly placed. Our guide, Allie, was nice, helpful and made our whole experience more enjoyable. I highly recommend Breakout KC!

Great experience, would definitely recommend! Went twice, the first time w/my kids second time w/friends. Both times were fun and surprisingly we got a lot of the gambling room accomplished with the kids. Went to the same room and we actually finished the second time around in under an hour.

My son and I had an incredible time escaping the National Security room. Thank you for some great memory-making (and a special thank you to our guide, Aly! Sheā€™s THE best!)

This was our first escape room experience. We had no idea what to expect, but found it to be challenging and super fun. We had a sense that we really were in a movie/novel, where time flew and each moment felt real. We failed to beat our challenge (I was a superb weak link). However, win or lose, our host (Sidney) was wonderful. We had a lot of support tips, where Sidney was attentive to our every success and failure. We had a great family experience. I would reccomend this to everyone who is seeking a unique and challenging experience.

We have done two breakouts now and had a ton of fun! Y2K and National Security was a blast. Puzzles were complex, yet accessible, and provided just the right amount of time to solve. If you are looking to have a fun double date or friends night out, you won't be disappointing.

Lots of funā€¦ We did this with the grandparents and our 4 year old enjoyed solving the mystery during ā€œNational Treasure.ā€

We had never done anything like this before. My boys (8 & 10) and I did the Y2K room. It was challenging but so fun! We did need some help with clues, but still had a great time and felt like we figured out some stuff on our own! Canā€™t wait to come back!!!
