I wish that I could give Petco in Overland Park, KS and employee, Angel a million stars on this Google Review. Angel did something for me that was so above and beyond what would be required of her as an employee. I will remember her for as long as I live. We are moving out of State and will be in limbo prior to getting our house. I have 5 of the most amazing glow fish. I love and adore them. I have cared for them for 2 years and baby them like my children. They are spoiled rotten. So I knew the day was coming that I would have to find a home for them. I literally asked everyone I knew. Then I decided to put them on market place but I felt as though I was getting people that only wanted the tank and supplies. So someone said that Petco (where I love shopping) would happily take the fish. I thought OmGOSH this is perfect bc then they will go to someone who will love them.‘I was sad in my heart bc they had been together for 2 years but at least they were going to be well cared for (I hoped). So when I spoke to Angel I joked and said I would like them to stay together as a family and she chuckled with me. Several hours later I brought my fish kids to Petco. As I walked in a girl said you must be the lady who called. I said are you Angel. It was her! She said awe they are so cute! I said hey would you take them? And she said sure..I would love to!’ I about fell over in happiness and grabbed her to hug her! My babies were going to an employee of a pet store who clearly loved pets! AND…her name is ANGEL! Was she even real or was she my guardian Angel? Either way…she is precious and I know she has a heart of gold. She felt that I was so sad and she took my fish so they could stay together! Bless her heart. Who does that? Angel does! She should get employee of the decade. When I walked in she was helping someone and they really seemed to be enjoying their conversation with her. She obviously has an amazing personality and excellent customer service. I will NEVER FORGET what she did for me. For this I will always rest easy bc of her kind heart. I will also always exclusively shop at Petco bc of ANGEL! I also called back bc I wanted to bring her some fish supplies and she had left work. I spoke to her Mgr Leo! She was AMAZING, as well. It must be a prerequisite to work there. Someone is doing something right. Maybe Leo trained her..maybe someone trained Leo. Regardless..they are both awesome. Guardian Angel..I owe you forever bc although I didn’t hand over one of my children I handed over fish that were a part of our family every day for 2 years. They know my voice and come to me when I call. I miss them already but am at ease thanks to my guardian Angel. Good things are coming your way…you deserve the moon and stars. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will tell everyone I know from this day on about you!! Ps this picture was of my fish riding in the bowl to the pet store 😢

This was my sheltie after the groomers got ahold of him. They told me “we have to take him down a bit” and then completely shaved my dog. This was because there was matting near his butt! When I called to complain I was told that I need to take better care of my dog, and that I was not welcome back. This is not how you groom shelties. He was returned to me shaking and scared. The most unprofessional and ridiculous experience I’ve had in my life. I would recommend literally anywhere but here. The blue haired chick behind the counter was appalled that I didn’t like my dog being scalped.

One of the worst & rude petco hair groomers I have seen in Overland Park located by 95th street. She was racist to my dog. Just to avoid working , groomer was abusive on my dog. She’s a little old Westie. Groomer is blaming that my dog is intending to bite, which is totally false. Please find my dog in the picture here. She’s a little old dog, she was just trying to snap her back when groomer caught her jaws in hand. Find the groomer in the picture attached here , she’s bending on the table & the one with phone on another pic . She refused to let her name known to me & she’s the manager. Please avoid this outlet of Petco if you guys could. Not a dog friendly environment at all.

Underated store by far. Super knowledgeable and great selection. It is smaller than other Petco stores but top notch service. Better fish plants than the other stores. Aquariums are clean the right way. I will not buy fish from box stores but this location is an exception to that because they work so hard to keep their fish healthy and happy

Warning: DO NOT GROOM YOUR DOG HERE!!! I took my dog here on 5/15 for a nail trim and bath (I usually go to the location at 135th and Stateline and have always had an excellent experience, but this location had openings sooner so I decided to try this place I out). The nail trim & bath usually go for ~$37 and I'm always able to do just that at the 135th location. When I arrived, they told me they would have to do the full shed treatment for $60 on my dog due to her fur coat and compacted fur (note: she is an akita/terrier mix with short hair that's about 1 inch long). That was instantly a red flag to me but I agreed to it as I had already drove 20 minutes to get to the grooming appointment. Not even 20 minutes after I had dropped off my dog they call to tell me they will not be doing the full treatment due to 'behavioral issues' while they were trying to trim her nails. I drove straight there and they only charged me $10 for the nail trim. I was confused as my dog has never shown aggression towards anyone before and I've never had any issues with her being handled at previous grooming appointments or vet appointments other than some mouthing when her paws are touched. I was concerned and asked if I could know how bad it was for future reference. Their explanation was "if she had gotten ahold of us she could have seriously messed us up". There was no effort to muzzle her or even calm her down. My dog was visibly shaken and upset so at the moment I decided to just pay the $10 and get her out of there ASAP. I got back home and decided to look at my dog's nails and they were MUTILATED! On her front paws alone there were four nails with visible dried blood and bruising and almost every nail was visibly cut past the quick (pictures attached). I can only imagine the pain they inflicted on her and that is what caused her behavior. This is 100% animal abuse and I am filing a report with the ASPCA to report this. I have contacted management and am waiting to her a response. The groomer's name was Cory FYI.

Great place to get your fish and products to maintain tank. All of this comes from Petco and the help of there staff to keep it minimal maintenance with slugs, ghost shrimp and also give my fish some cool plants that don't require much maintenance. Check it out. Tank has been running for 8 weeks +

Lizzy is the Best Groomer! We have a cockerpoo who can be anxious at times. He absolutely loves Lizzy and will not go to anyone else. She always does an amazing job grooming him! She goes the extra mile to ensure your fur baby is well taken care of!

I took my dog to the grooming part and I left him just for a haircut they said it would take 6 hours which was insane, Next thing they call me saying that my dogs ear was bleeding but it stopped and they wouldn’t finish the job. at least I didn’t have to pay but it was a horrible experience.

The staff is really helpful and nice and the selection is good. A great stop if you need something right away. Prices in store are weird though as some products are a lot more on the shelf when compared to Petco's website.

Best place in town for greens for cats. Jon and Elysabeth went above and beyond the call of duty. Jon located the litter I wanted at a different retailer. I appreciated the assist.

One of the smaller Petco’s but filled with all the essentials. The sweet cashier let me know how much money I would save if I signed up for one their free membership cards. Which I did happily! Thanks for looking out for my wallet!

Great staff, hands down one of the best shopping experiences I’ve had at a Petco in a very very long time. The associate that helped me with my Purchases Was insanely sweet, and knowledgeable, quite clearly cared about the animals entrusted to her. I promise to give little Mouse (the guinea pig) the best possible care and look forward to sharing updates on her progress. Serious,

They have a great pet grooming department and are very friendly. They are a little high priced for routine grooming. The only negative thing I can say is the store always appears somewhat disorganized and not very clean.

Place is great. Got my daughter a bearded dragon, guy was really friendly and cool, got us a discount and was very knowledgeable.

My Daughter volunteers here. KC Pet Project works with Petco to help get the animals adopted or into foster homes. You can visit Petco and sign up to take a dog out for exercise and socializing at a park.

I was thrilled to find dog harnesses on clearance! The value compared to what I paid was amazing to me. The store was clean and organized, and I easily found everything I was looking for, staff was very helpful, too. I look forward to my next visit to Petco.

Sophia helped me adopt a wonderful Siberian Husky! Sophia was professional and patient and explained the entire process thoroughly. Getting a rescued dog from Petco was one of the best decisions of my life!

So disgusting. Leaves all over the floor, unorganized, and just awful I feel bad for the animals. One guinea pig needs +8 Suare feet of space let alone 4 pigs in less than a square foot. Just unbelievable on how selfish these people are to these animals. Poor babies

I went inside and all the workers were in the back plsying a game. And i had to yell 8 times until a worker came. The good part is that i asked for 4 medium crickets and they gave me 15. So i got 15 for the proce of 4. But inmature workers.

For the grooming staff to deal with dogs all the time I am highly disappointed that they couldn't get my dog groomed and to still charge me $35 for freaking bath that I could have done for free at home is ridiculous. Even after I told them this is her first time being groomed they still should have figured out a way to her well groomed and pampered like I wanted her to be.

What is happening at this store?!? If I could give zero stars I would. It’s an absolute MESS & there is no organization to any of their products so it’s a nightmare to find anything you are looking for! And the icing on cake…once I found an employee to help me find what I needed, he huffed and puffed about it & was extremely rude. I needed help finding something again because like I said the store is chaos so I asked a different employee and she was horribly rude as well. Seriously, what is happening?!? Don’t go to this store!! It takes A LOT for me to complain or write a negative review…get it together pet-co!

ALL of the ladies that work in the grooming department at this location are so kind and sweet to my 3 year old rescue Shih Tzu. My dog has a hard time meeting new people and gets very nervous and scared, but after about a year now of taking her to this location she does very well during the grooming process and I fully attribute it to how well these ladies handle her so delicately and with such care. I highly recommend to everyone I know!

I was very surprise how my pets grooming experience was and the groomers were very helpful with how I wanted my pet cut and I loved how professional they were with my pet and me. They were good about the time scheduled and the day where I did not have to wait for two weeks to have my poodle groomed. I am very happy and satisfied and my pet showed she was active and happy with the process. I look forward to future grooming and shopping for pet supplies at petco.

I primarily visit Petco for dog grooming, which I have been very pleased with. The staff are friendly and accommodating (non-grooming staff included). The only current caveat with grooming is there is some issue with scheduling online in Kansas which is being worked out so you will have to call to schedule. The other thing I like is that they offer refillable cat litter tubs. It's more economical, convenient, and reduces plastic waste. The only complaint I might have is that regular pricing can feel elevated but they run some good deals on various items like food, etc that are worthwhile.

They where restocking so not everything was labeled or the label was very far away. The culture of fruit flies was $10, but packages for hummingbird catiperilars was in the place. They also tried to sell packages of dead insects for 50% off when they belonged in the trash. The hummingbird catiperilars where black and dead, the 24 hour descomposer fly larvae, aka Calcium worms, where black as can be no pupating. The large superworms wheres are all large enough to pupate and make a breeding swarm. Like all pet stores they all out of roaches of any type. They have really reduce the number of contractors and other businesses they still work with. They still have the highly dangerous reptile sands that cause impaction and death in reptiles kept on the wrong soil media. Also, bearded dragons live in arid soil area, which is not sand soil, but hard dry rocky and clay or lime rich soils. The only reptiles, amphibians, and insects you buy sand for are sand boas, ironclad beetles (they also do great in arid soils), Australia desert rain toad, sand viper, desert chameleon, and a lot more insects. You can add it to your worm farm for grit for gizzards.

I got my dog her shots and grooming. Vaccinations are only available on some Saturdays, and seemed to be a good deal. The grooming was good but cost a lot for a toy breed dog... like almost 80 plus tip. Still... the dog is difficult to groom... and she was not traumatized so it seemed like an OK deal. This store has a lot of reasonably priced pet supplies, a good shop overall.
