Luogo molto tranquillo perfetto per un pic-nic. Peccato per la struttura che è un po' malridotta. Da qui poi è inoltre possibile raggiungere il monte faeta tramite il percorso 121 del CAI.

Packed up some food, conscripted some friends and hiked up there on a spring morning. Found a lovely ruined village inhabited by Mr. and Ms. Goat and their goatlings. There was a freshwater fountain, a comfortable meadow, and an old defrocked roofless chapel complete with cracked altar for the desecration inclined people. We, being somewhat sensible and aware of it being the Easter day, opted for a picnic in the surrounding grove. In the meadows, the Goat family happily rummaged through the bags of less goat-aware persons, stealing food and causing a humorous mess, culminating in Mr. Goat finding an hipster's tobacco pouch and defiantly eating it under the menace of headbutting anyone who tried to recover it. Good times

Costruita a partire dal 1227 in stile romanico pisano, nel 1432 l’abbazia fu quasi completamente distrutta durante una guerra locale e i monaci si trasferirono all’abbazia di San Benedetto di Portonorio. Ricostruita in seguito la chiesa rimase in buono stato fino al 1812, poiché era l'oratorio privato della famiglia Ricci. Attualmente la chiesa e il monastero sono in stato di abbandono, dopo che le ultime famiglie che abitavano nei dintorni si sono trasferite altrove.

I miss the family of goats that used to live up here and harass the hikers for food. The skeleton of the church itself is amazingly well preserved. Worth visiting just for the view, on a sunny day you can see down to the coast.

One of the best place in the world

I think it's good for those who's looking for short trekking with some friends only 1-2 hours. There are some flat area for eating. The last quarter path to the top of the mountain is very steep and beware of wild goats. The church is pretty much abandoned, but you can see the history why is the window only in one side, and there is also an old house that's being restored now.

Antica chiesa e monastero dell'XI° secolo ormai abbandonata e pericolante. Luogo suggestivo sopra il paese di Asciano in provincia di Pisa.

Percorso non troppo complicato ma da fare in giornate non afose né quando il tempo è così e così. Si ha un terreno vario (un po' con Sassi, un po' con scalini, un po' terreno e basta) e la pendenza è media. Percorso un po' faticoso ma se preso con calma diventa una bella passeggiata nel bosco. Una volta raggiunto il ponticello attraversarlo e cominciare a salire seguendo anche le indicazioni rosse e bianche del percorso trekking. Potrà sembrare di non arrivare mai, ma con pazienza si raggiunge un cartello he indica la. Distanza dalla chiesa (0.4 km) oltre che anche per altre destinazioni, quando troveremo la strada lastricata saremo quasi arrivati. Dall'alto si gode di una bella vista, specie se non è presente foschia. La Chiesa è davvero molto bella e suggestiva con il cielo che fa da tetto. Sconsigliato a passeggini. Indossare scarpe comode e antiscivolo, piegarsi una bottiglietta d'acqua.

Monastero abbandonato sui Monti Pisani dal fascino unico, che si raggiunge con un percorso in salita di alcune centinaia di metri di dislivello, percorsi soprattutto nella macchia mediterranea spontanea, composta da pini e sughere, a partire dal Cisternone di Asciano. Vi sono anche i ruderi di alcuni edifici rurali nei pressi di questo antico, minuscolo borgo.
