Wonderful place. For a couple of days in August there was a street basketball tournament there.

The piazza with Duomo, Baptistery and Palazzo Communale is stunning but unlike Florence and Pisa was almost empty of tourists. You can park around the Piazza Garibaldi and then have a 5-10 minute walk through the delights of the back street. This is definitely not too be missed and because of the absence of tourists is much more enjoyable than Florence/Pisa.

Pistoia is one of (the many) Italian cities which you should visit when you are in that part of Italy. The miraculous atmosphere of an ancient Italian town, little small streets - and then the openings to a Piazza and a church. And, well, Piazzo Duomo is truly splendid. When we were there in early spring only a few people sitting in the sun - as we did in a little café area right on the Piazza - strolling around, children running, dogs playing. An atmosphere of peace and spaciousness and the historic buildings expressing their beauty - and the thousand stories of people who once have lived here in different conditions than we see today.

There are plenty of Piazza del Duomo in Italy. But this one has something special. It is beautiful, authentic, large and more quiet than others. You just feel good over there!
