(Translated by Google) I love Municipal and inclusive programming. It is possible to see free concerts and super operas produced for R $ 16.00 (R $ 8.00 half price). On one occasion I could see Fernanda Montenegro for R $ 5.00 (!!!). No more saying that it is an elite place. In addition to the excellent program, it is a beautiful and very well preserved building that is worth the visit! P. S: all photos were taken at times when it was allowed to photograph. Do not film or photograph the show while it is happening. (Original) Amo o Municipal e a programação inclusiva.

Woooow! What a cool space! I would DEFINITELY recommend a free tour around the Theatre. We have learned more about the city in 55 minutes than from our entire Michelin guide. I would fully recommend that! The guide was a great English speaker so we could ask loads of additional questions! It is really cool! There is this rule, that you cannot take videos inside of the theatre (not sure why) but have a look at my pics (these are allowed!).

Historical and very well preserved opera house. English language tours are given daily at 1pm for free. Register online and show your passport upon arrival. Tour takes approximately one hour and it’s very educational.

Beautiful place. A MUST visit to whoever comes to Sao Paulo. However, the location is pretty dangerous so be aware of your belongings. If you want to go to see a show there, search on internet to see what's avaliable and get tickets so when you go there's plenty of people.

Gorgeous building with a very interesting history!! However we turned up for the free English tour which is meant to be on Friday's at 11am but they decided they weren't doing one that day... and we had a group of 9 who had planned to go especially. They said next time we should have called in advance, so that would be my tip! Also when they have rehearsals on it's not possible to view the auditorium. Lunch at the restaurant downstairs was delicious, a very generous banquet of traditional Brazilian food with a surprise opera performance in the entrance of the theatro - quite the treat :)

The Municipal Theatre of São Paulo is in itself a work of art. It is absolutely gorgeous. I have the feeling the general population doesn't care for it or simply doesn't have the cultural level to appreciate both the venue and the shows presented in it, and that is disheartening thought. If that is not the case for you, do not think twice: check schedules and pay it a visit. They even offer guided tours. ❤️

I wish I could say we got to experience what others have rated as a great place to visit but sadly we did not! Our party of 4 stopped by today to inquire on tour options and we were greeted by some down right rude and miserable women! They were more concerned about returning to their gossip session than helping us. We had stopped by hoping there was someone onsite with whom we could make reservations for the next day. The primary woman continued to repeat their tour hours to which I had to ask three times if there was someone onsite that we could make reservations with instead only to be treated rudely and informed the only way to make reservations was online. Seeing as I would expect a lot of your visitors to be foreign individuals I would have hoped the theatre would have been more accommodating. What a disappointment!!!!

Must-see. The building architecture was inspired by Paris' Opéra, and is hidden in between the high buildings of downtown SP. Try to watch something as the inside is as beautiful as the outside. They also have tours in English on Tuesdays at 4pm, Wednesdays to Fridays at 1pm and Saturdays at 11am.

Beautiful structure in downtown Sao Paulo. The theater itself is worth the visit to admire its architecture and learn how the history of Brazil and Sao Paulo back in the days is reflected in its style and decoration. They have been investing in bringing a richer agenda of shows and cultural events, some can be very interesting and offered at affordable prices.

Until recently, there was the offer of special programs, at popular prices, on Saturday afternoons and Sundays in the morning. (Translated by Google) Municipal Theater of São Paulo is a theater in São Paulo, Brazil. Seen as a city landmark, important for its architectural value as well as for its historical significance, as it was the venue for the Week of Modern Art in 1922, which revolutionized the arts in Brazil. The building now houses the São Paulo Municipal Symphony Orchestra, the Lerico Choir (Lerico Choir) and the São Paulo Ballet The idea of building a representative theater for São Paulo was inspired by its growing importance on the international stage. Since the beginning of the twentieth century it has been inhabited by the Brazilian bourgeoisie, and a large part of it was involved in the field of coffee cultivation. The city also had a large Italian population. So far, the city could only rely on Teatro São José, in fact there were some very large, even modest theaters in the city, such as Polythéama, or Minerva, and Apolo, but São José was larger than one that was no longer suitable for large foreign production after the fire. . That is why the Bulistan aristocracy demanded the creation of a new theater with a structure similar to some of the best in the world and suitable for major opera performances. (Translated by Google) The building does not even seem to belong to the surroundings, it is so masterful that it is. The surroundings ... a lot, but a lot of dirt. Garbage, bad smell and feeling of insecurity. I still want to go back more often. It was obviously closed. (Original) O prédio nem parece pertencer ao entorno, de tão magistral que é. Já o entorno... muita, mas muita sujeira. Lixo, mal cheiro e sensação de insegurança. Ainda quero voltar mais vezes. Estava, obviamente, fechado.

A magnificent, historic, do-not-miss spot. Because my schedule didn't coincide with their frequent English tours, I had to take a Portuguese language tour. Though I didn't understand a word, the architecture was breathtaking. Check the tour schedule and book online.

We could only see it from the outside bc you have too book a free guided tour online. Do it a couple of days in advance bc they seem to be booked a lot. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beautiful building. Tours are from Tuesday to Saturday

The place was awesome and the staff and artists were flawless, but DO NOT expect to go to the Cafe during the intervals, there’s only one person to charge ALL customers from the floor, the hosts seem lost, giving each one a different information so in the end you wasted all your time in a line that you will never get what you wished for and will lose the the chance to appreciate the Theater

The largest opera house in São Paulo. It’s a beautiful theater, with remarkable programming, considering the institution’s instability. It’s worth noticing that the audience there is much younger and informal than what we see in Europe or the US.

So much history behind the scenes this theatre! Everything is beautiful. Loved the experience of a guided tour(free but it is booked)

Beautiful theatre inside and out. I enjoyed a show there. Buying tickets as a foreigner online is impossible. The nonsense about needing a CPF as a foreigner to pay online HAS TO STOP. so had to go directly to the theatre.

When we visited the place was closed by we were informed that you can book online free tours and the pictures look really good. There is also a restaurant there that looks fancy too

Staff was friendly. I liked that the theater hires transwomen to work as ushers. Restaurant inside offers drinks and savory pastries. Long lines for food.
