Amazing food, excellent service and great view. The food was lovely and served hot. Great flavours and taste would highly recomend this place. Its pet friendly too. The local dinners were friendly and chatty too. Nice local pub. Lovely atmosphere. A bit pricey (Extra) but worth the money. Hope this helps. Thanks. £££ £ - Basic. ££ - Reasonable. £££ - Extra. ££££ - Inflated.

The best meal out I've had in years! The food was excellent and plenty, and you can taste the good quality ingredients. There's a good range of drinks including some very good less-widely-known ales. The staff gave excellent service as well as being friendly and warm! What a great experience, I'll definitely be coming again!

Absolutely delicious Valentines Dinner …… beef wellington was beautifully cooked and accompanied by perfectly prepared seasonal vegetables and a side serving of rich , red wine sauce ……. If you want an evening to remember in a comfortable but stylish country pub you can’t get better than this 😍

Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Friendly , polite and very helpful. Great atmosphere. Visited with friends for lunch exactly 11 of us on Tuesday afternoon. Service that we have received was top class and all the staff were on point and very professional especially Hannah. You did an amazing job. Food was delicious and big shout out to chef for getting our food out at the same time. Your Peppered Steak Pie is one of the best one I ever had. We all had an amazing time. Outstanding service definitely will be coming back. Thank you all.

Over 20 years ago since I last visited here. Food excellent, decor I really liked reasonably priced drinks and food . This is not a complaint but the waiters and waitresses could do to smile more and be more engaging with the customers. In all said and done I will be visiting again soon really enjoyed the experience.

Amazing food Had the trio Sunday roast (beef / turkey / pork) And other was the beef roast Nice big portions with a pot of gravy, all cooked spot on and so tasty. Yorkshire puds are big and one of the nicest I’ve had (not your typical burnt effort on the outside and bland full of air in the middle like you get in some other places) . Also had the sticky toffee pudding with small jug of custard afterwards …. Absolutely delightful! From start to finish just superb. 30 mins drive for us but glad we went as we’ll be definitely back 🤌🏼🤌🏼

Normally fantastic. Probably one of the best pubs/restaurants we go to however this time it was just meh. Very expensive for very simple food. It was the first time we left feeling slightly disappointed.

Visited family and went here. Pleasant staff welcomed us in with our dog 🐕 to the bar area. Everything was clean inside. I had the Ham and Eggs which was nice, everyone else said they enjoyed the meals and drinks they had. Would go again next time we visit family.

I was staying nearby having travelled up from Devon, so it was my first visit; meeting a friend that was local. I was quickly taken to our booked table and the customer service was perfect. The food was tasty and served quickly. Nothing was too much trouble (I'm gluten free). Never felt rushed to leave our table as we chatted for a few hours. Plenty of free parking too.

Booked a table for 2 knowing it would be busy the Friday before Xmas. Food absolutely spot on as per usual, service we couldn't fault. Had 3 courses each (the tomato and basil soup was one of the best I'd had) and considering how busy it was, everything was flawless. We had all 3 meals and finished in around 90 minutes. Considering the quality of the food, this place is hard to beat.

We went last night table booked for 7pm 9 adults + 4 children. Service was great, staff was friendly, pub was fairly busy, we ordered starters + mains, one of the starters had been forgotten about but staff was really apologetic about it + offered a drink on the house for the person who's starter it was, salt + pepper chicken bites are a definite must try, loaded fries was quite dry but tasty, black pudding starter is really nice aswell as pork belly starter. We all had a starter each + a main with plenty of drinks + the bill wasn't as steep as I thought it was going to be, we spent around 2+ half hours at the table + got asked if we wanted to see the desert menu but we was all to full from starters + mains... Haha everyone at our table enjoyed their meal + never found a fault with any of it burgers, sirloin steak, surf + turf, bacon chop, kids sausage + mash, kids chicken bites, kids cheeseburger, would definitely go back here + recommend. I only got two pictures one of the salt + pepper bites + surf + turf... Thank you to all at boars head for a fantastic meal + service.

Unpleasant experience this evening. Did try and address with ‘manager’ who was absolutely not bothered. Was fobbed off by being told details were in my email confirming reservation but guess what… NOTHING at all in the email received. Friends food was less than adequate and all that we received was a refund of her starter when both her courses were awful. Not a good place anymore

Went for lunch with friends. Waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was great, i tried one of the homemade pies, which was very tasty. I would definitely recommend trying this establishment if you're after good quality food and service.

We dined there Bank Holiday Monday. The menu choice was excellent - with some additional specials as well. We had three courses and all the food was excellent, tasty and piping hot. It was a great meal - made even better by the young lady who served us - so polite, helpful and 'smiley', in fact all the team there were really friendly. A big thumbs up from us and we'll definitely be visiting the Boars Head again.

Unexpected visit. We had been to the Houghton Tower Classic car show and the queue for the only food stall, with only 1 serving was endless!! Anyway, we got seated straight away, outside. Served very quickly, even though it was packed inside. The food was very good and plenty of it. Lovely staff who obviously put their customers first.....so thank you 😊

Went bank holiday Monday at 7:15pm for a meal to try out the new menu and we were NOT disappointed! We had the charcuterie board to share for starters and for mains we ordered the moules mariniere , Seabass and the steak ciabatta with a lovely bottle of l’oasis provence blush which was the right thing to do as we all thoroughly enjoyed! The service was spot on and with a smile from Harriet and Emily! Will be back again and can highly recommend!

Second time now we've been for a Sunday roast. Food is fantastic and the pub has a great atmosphere. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a big, hearty meal!

Went for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed! Food was 1st class and they also had a really good vegetarian option. Service could have been quicker, several people arrived after us and were served before us but all in all we had a great night.

Mother's Day meal with the family. Plenty of parking on site and we were shown immediately to our table despite the pub being very busy. Prompt service with drinks and menus. Took some time for the meals to be served however this was not unexpected owing to how busy the pub was and it was not unpleasantly long. The food was hot, well cooked and large portions. Condiments were supplied quickly when asked for. Responsive when asking for the bill. Great dining experience in a lovely venue. Recommend the 3 meat Sunday roast!

Went in here for something to eat, was asked if we had booked but we hadn't. As there was only 2 of us they found us a table straight away. Food was exceptional and nicely priced. Will definitely be back again. 😊

An extremely pleasant experience. Amazing food and helpful treatment from our server. With my allergy it makes eating out difficult and after finding out the meals I could eat we decided on sharing a bao bun with beef in sweet chilli sauce starter. This was divine and perfect to share, you'll just need to ask for another plate. I didn't get a picture of it as we were too occupied with eating it, it is a flat bao bun topped with the beef smothered in the sauce and strips of veg. The mains were just as good and very filling so no room for dessert unfortunately.

Went back again today for the first time in a long time . was amazed at the fantastic refurb that has taken place. I had the light bite gammon steak that came with triple cooked chips, garden peas and a Friday egg. The gammon was lovely it wasn't salty like some can been and wasn't chewy either, the chips were absolutely delicious. My mum had the small fish and chips which she thoroughly enjoyed. It came with mushy peas which I had a taste of and I can honestly say they were the nicest mushy peas I've tasted in a while. Staff were friendly and professional Lovely light lunch
