This church (officially a temple) is unfinished. Work on land owned by the University of Prishtina began in 1995, as part of an attempt to Serbianise Prishtina and Kosovo under the Milošević regime. When full-scale conflict broke out the work could not be completed and the structure has suffered from vandalisation. It now stands in limbo. I don't find it a very nice looking structure and it is a symbol of a bad period and terrible politics. Now it just looks very sad.

It’s worth reading up on some of the history of this derelict church before you pass by - it helps appreciate what’s happening a lot more. For something which was never finished it’s got quite some story to tell and while the area appears not to be getting maintained currently it’s a brilliant landmark to admire, whatever your opinion. A must see I believe when in the city.

The area should be used for something more sensible. It's a shame that they don't build something new on it that serves the population.

Almost finished but not quite, because of the kosovo war. Though it represents more than what you see. Wiki has a wonderful tale of this shell, worth seeing and reading about.

Empty, brutal, senseless and a (failed) tentative to fabricate history. On the other hand it is somewhat valuable as it represents a microcasm of the Serbian presence in Kosovo.

Be careful around the church! My friend was bit by a stray dog when we were approaching the church last weekend. There was a large group of aggressive and seemingly very territorial dogs and they all came running at us, eventhough we where just walking quietly towards the church.

Interesting place, full of history but be very careful as there are guard dogs that don't like intruders.

Watch out for the dogs! There are approx. 10-15 dogs at the church, which is very territorial. Me and two other, unfortunately did not see the dogs and came too close. They ran towards us, and ultimately bit one of my friends, so we had to go to the hospital.

Extremely aggressive street dogs use the church as a shelter, so unless you wanna be bitten by one, I’ll keep my distance

It's a shame the hateful extremist albanians are vandalising this beautiful church instead of taking care of it.

Cristo il Salvatore Church: A Serene Sanctuary, Divine Beauty! ⛪🌟😇 Cristo il Salvatore Church is a true gem in the heart of the city. As I stepped inside, I was immediately embraced by a sense of peace and tranquility. The elegant architecture and exquisite stained glass windows added to the church's divine beauty. The atmosphere inside was filled with reverence and spirituality, making it a perfect place for reflection and prayer. The intricate details of the artwork and the soothing hymns created a serene ambiance that touched my soul. Whether you are a believer or simply seeking a moment of calm amidst the bustling city, Cristo il Salvatore Church is a sanctuary of solace and grace. It's a place where one can find respite from the outside world and connect with a higher purpose. I left the church feeling uplifted and spiritually nourished. A visit to this majestic place is a must for anyone seeking an encounter with beauty, tranquility, and a glimpse of the divine.

Interesting history. Abandoned Serbian Orthodox Church. There are many like this, and worse in Kosovo. The cultural conflict is real. Definitely pass by while in pristina. Located next to the national library

Definitely an ugly unfinished building in the heart of the University campus. I strongly believe that the state should turn this building into a museum of political pressure against ethnic Albanians in the 90s as this building represents exactly that.

See Steven Bintley's (previous reviewer) review of this church. I read about the history of church sitting on a bench looking at the church and I felt a lot about that area and the surrounding part of Pristina made a lot more sense to me.

A religious building built under the occupation of Serbia. The war criminal, Zeljko Raznatovic-Arkan, took part in the construction start ceremony. The only legacy of this object is the crimes and massacres of the Serbian state against the civilian Albanian population in Kosovo. The object is built inside the courtyard of the University of Prishtina.
