We came here for our honeymoon and were so happy with our choice. The staff are so helpful and proactive. The restaurant is great. It has a lovely pool and terrace on the roof with decent drinks and bar snacks. The room: we got a suite. It was dark and quiet and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The room is a little dark with no main lights but worth it for the amenities, space, design and impeccable cleaning. I can't speak for the standard rooms, but we personally had such a lovely experience

The design of the hotel is great & the rooms are beautiful but that unfortunately is where our positive review ends. The rooms: Are extremely dark and have no natural light unless you leave the top half of the entrance door open, thus allowing anybody that walks by to see into the room. For us, this made it a not very particularly enjoyable space to spend time in and it was a shame not to be able to lay in bed with the curtains open and enjoy a coffee in the morning, without feeling completely exposed. Whilst incredibly noisy, the air con unit also didn’t seem to do anything so our room was extremely hot no matter the time of day. In fact, the room was always considerably hotter than outside! The food: We had breakfast at the hotel twice and on both occasions our food arrived cold. It was also not made clear to us that the majority of the menu is not included in the B&B rate. So, on both mornings, we were charged full price for breakfast. If we’d have known this, we might have decided to try somewhere different. More generally: The biggest problem during our stay was that the hotel had taken a booking for a wedding on the Saturday night. With no prior mention of this happening we came back one afternoon, with the intention of spending the rest of the day by the pool, to find the lobby area cordoned off & a wedding drinks reception in full swing. We were escorted the ‘long way round’ by security to our room so that we didn’t disturb the party and after getting changed into our swimsuits and heading up to the terrace, were very quickly ushered back into the lift by a security guard. He told us that the terrace was closed, even to hotel guests, for the rest of the day due to a private party. Worse still, upon returning from dinner that evening, we were greeted by extremely loud music which went on until 1am. With it only being the second night after flying in from London, we were quite jet lagged so this was a real problem. If accepting bookings for a private event, you should not be taking paying hotel guests at the same time. It is simply not acceptable to restrict guest access to all of the hotels facilities for an entire day/night when that is part of what we are paying for.

Great place, it’s got a dark Gothic Mexican theme. The suites are ginormous, but all the rooms are very dark but it goes with the theme of the hotel. The main restaurant is incredible. Breakfast is delicious.. the biggest part were the staff super friendly.

You cannot bring anything from the outside (food, beers, ...) in the common parts: isn't it an hostel?? To lend some balls for the baby-foot you have to give an identification (zero confidence in their guests) and to reach the bar of the swimming pool and the swimming pool you have to pay 250 pesos/pers. Ambiance not nice at all. If you want a tea instead of a coffee in the morning you have also to pay. In fact you will still be hungry after your breakfast. I do not recommend this place.

Very nice design hotel is a very central area. Service was exceptional. One complaint is that it is that the rooms are very dark (romantic in the evening but challenging to find things in suitcase etc)

This review is for the terrace and not the hotel. The view is nice, 4/5 stars. We went on March 12th at around 3:30 pm for a late lunch. I’d appreciate it if the management were to contact me after reading this post. Our food was ok, similar to a US chain Mexican restaurant and certainly disappointing considering all of the incredible options nearby. The atmosphere is fine but don’t expect NYC, Miami or similar. Small and basic. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco with a menu price of 580, however the bill showed 950. After arguing a bit the manager explained the menu hasn’t been updated in 3 months but 950 is the true price. Very suspicious. They accepted the lower price and we paid and left. Honestly, the only bad experience I’ve had in Mexico City. This area and lounge is like the Times Square of Mexico City. Go to Condesa, Roma or Polenco and don’t waste your time.

This hotel is beautiful and all the servers at the restaurants were amazing. It’s only one star though for a few reasons: the balcony doors (only window) go out onto a main street in the center. The AC in the room did not work so I had to leave the door opened at night and it was insanely loud. It was hot and loud and hard to sleep. I got quite a few mosquito bites at night as well. The bed, or maybe it was more the sheets they use, are insanely stiff and uncomfortable. The WiFi is not very stable either which was a problem because I had to work from home some days. It was also strange that they had a public party on the rooftop during the day. I was looking forward to laying out by the pool, one of the reasons I chose this hotel, but couldn’t do it. Lastly, due to unforeseen circumstances I needed to check out a day earlier. Expedia, who I booked though, had been trying to contact them since the day I checked in. They never responded and then when I went to speak to the hotel from desk they wouldn’t help me and just said they would charge me anyways because they “already did their forecasts for the month.” A few hundred dollars done the drain.

The most wonderful rooms in all of Mexico City. The ceiling was close to 6 meters high in my non-suite room. Room service was great, the pool was out of this world for how central it was. The only problem you might have as a couple is that the bathroom in sort of "inside" of the bedroom but unless you plan on having a bizarre loud embarrassing attack it will be just fine. Better than fine. Great; maybe perfect.

I stayed in the hostel for just two nights. What a terrible setup. Inside the dormitory style rooms there's absolutely no ventilation at all besides two windows. So if the room is packed full of people you're gonna melt. On top of that since the bugs are ravenous you'll get eaten alive. The outlets are terrible as well. My charger kept falling out. On a positive note the showers have hot water and you get an extremely basic breakfast. I'd recommend that they put mesh screens over the windows and install a couple ceiling fans to have some form of airflow. I would not recommend.

We stayed four nights in the Revolution Suite which is stunning. The old Mexican architecture yet modern flair give the hotel a unique vibe. Its ideal location, great food, and friendly staff were the cherry on the sundae!

Beautiful hotel that was re-purposed from a historical home in the center for Mexico City's historic district. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with the booking and accommodation. The hotel itself occupies the top two floors, the bottom floor is a beautiful courtyard with shops and restaurants. Breakfast is amazing and provided in the courtyard. The rooms themselves are very unique with high ceilings. There is a pool and Jacuzzi on the rooftop which was excellent. A very memorable hotel!

Very poor service at front desk or anywhere else in the hostel for that matter. No lockers, but rather them trying to be chic in providing something for personal belongings.... You will need a small lock though as regular size ones don't fit. There is no heat, so depending on time of year you go, be sure to bring extra clothing / bedding accordingly. The only positive that I can give is the location and 25 peso Corona.

I travel to Mexico often and this cdmx visit was my 4th time there but first time at Downtown hotel. Great cheaper spot if you want to stay in the center. Rooftop pool was fabulous as was the rooms. Everything clean and well kept. Free breakfast was fantastic! Special thanks to Luis my daily breakfast server…kind, professional, and helpful person! Check out Downtown Hotel!!

I really wanted to love this place, but by day 3 I was very disappointed... the AC wasnt working, the bed was hard, the lighting is beautiful for ambiance but was much too dark for anything really, and they tried to say we didn't pay when we checked out and when we showed proof then they had a bill with tips for the free breakfast. The best part of the hotel was the location to downtown the staff and the shower which was amazing.

I made a reservation here and when I checked-in the individual at the front desk seemed not to care one bit about showing some sort of professionalism or even care about providing a mediocre level of service. Once I got my key and room number I dropped off my luggage and left to get something to eat. I came back and found a disgusting amount of bedbugs on my bed. I immediately grabbed my luggage and left. Would not recommend this place one bit.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Staff are super friendly. Room was delightful. Room is pretty quiet with all of the windows closed, but the restaurant in the lower courtyard is pretty noisy until late, and early morning.

Hip and cool makeover of an amazing colonial building, great food in the restaurant in the entrance, amazing mural going up the stairs ( O’Gorman?) and the rooftop has an amazing view at other amazing building “el Casino Español”.

I loved the location and beautiful historical design in city center Mexico. One night only however the kindly staff received us with couple shots of Tequila. My girl from Philippines was amazed of this warm welcome. Amenities in the room like full mini bar plus jacuzzi , perfect match. Breakfast included

Nice design, but overall lacking given the price level - we're paying approximately $400 USD/nt for an Independence Suite, which is large but not in a luxurious way, more cavernous and awkwardly laid out. Issues so far: - very dark rooms - no way to make coffee in the room, or even hot water - no filtered water - beds are quite hard - door locks are antiquated, with heavy and stubborn key action - spa on the roof is not hot, just pool water with jets - no door on the toilet area, just a curtain, so pretty exposed to the rest of the suite - AC in our friend's room is quite noisy - no fitness facility - toiletries are odd - the body wash is the consistency of jello and very sweet smelling, not the CO Bigelow claimed on the web site - shares space with a hostel - nothing against hostel users, I used to be one myself, but it's not consistent with a luxury hotel experience If I were paying $150/nt, I'd shrug and live with it, but at $400 I feel ripped off, especially compared to the excellent brand new Sofitel where we spent the last 4 nights and which was comparably priced. Won't be back.

Horrible service. The waiters can't do their math, they overcharge you, it took us 15 minutes to charge us. First time I didn't pay any tip in Mexico. The views are nice, but if you want to get terrible service you should go ahead.

Really enjoyed this place! Very cool vibe and central location, great restaurants. Is it the fanciest? No. But it’s great for the price and very unique! Minus 2 star because of bad aircon (very hot and very loud) and no bathroom ventilation, plus minimal lighting.

We are frequent travelers and this the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Lighting is terrible and dark. Bathroom ventilation is non-existent. The HVAC does not work and rooms are humid. Restaurant waiters are arrogant and unprofessional. Our order came in wrong and when we told them their answer was: kitchen is closed. Slow service for anything at hotel. This is a great shame to the Habita Group since they usually have great customer support. Would not recommend hotel to anyone. Look somwhere else.

If you ever wanted a luxury hotel with no windows at all this is the place for you. In case of a fire, no one makes it out alive. PS: also double check your bills as they add extra items to it.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms are stylish and kept to an excellent standard. The team across the hotel couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The pool is fabulous - such a gem! We would 100% return and visit the group’s other locations.

Beautiful, clean hotel centrally located just a block from Zocalo. Gorgeous rooms with exposed brick and high ceilings with a balcony overlooking the street. The service was unbelievable- my wife and I were there for our honeymoon and the staff made sure we had a wonderful time. Thank you so much Jesus! You are the best!

Absolutely beautiful hotel and amenities. The rooftop bar has delicious drinks and excellent service. The front desk is helpful and informative. The restaurant downstairs is also delicious. Our room was one of the most beautiful we’ve ever stayed in with a beautiful balcony overlooking the street. The room was spacious and the shower was excellent as well. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful!! The food and the service were exceptional. I highly recommend staying here for any time spent in el centro. Easy walking distance to plazas and wonderful restaurants.

amazing hotel for that categorie and price compared to different cities. the service and the hotel crew were super friendly - i cant remember of any stay at a hotel with this welcoming feeling. the architecture and location of the hotel is just perfect. and the rooms make you feel like home and want to stay longer. drinks, food and not to forget the rooftop terrace with a pool AND a jacuzzi makes this place definitely a highlight!

I called them and made a reservation for the day-pass to enjoy the pool. Unfortunately they didn’t communicate that there was no guarantee and it was subject of guests leaving the pool area early, so long story short we grabbed two beers and left after realizing there was no chance to enjoy the pool. Big lack of communication. Not returning here. They don’t value people’s time

Its like a boutique hostel within a beautiful old property. Everything is careful designed and thought off. Enjoyed the stability and soundness of it's bunk beds. Your dorm mate will not disturb you while climbing.

I should have read the reviews more closely because I agree with what other people have said. There are no windows! I've never stayed in a hotel room that had no windows before. Absolutely awful. To enter, you have to pass through a busy restaurant, where I almost got ran over by a waiter. Service staff was friendly and bellman was helpful. But the room was one of the worst I've stayed in. Bad lights, no power outlets at the desk (had to unplug the refrigerator and snake a cord up the back), bad bathroom design (water leaked everywhere since there was no lip on the shower). It was also extremely noisy. The thump of dance music from the upstairs terrace didn't stop until 3am. Should have stayed at the Gran (they were unfortunately full).

  • 2/5 Peter 2 years ago on Google
The room is dark and has no windows. Of course the lights are not strong enough to light up the room cause they want to make a "luxury" retro vibe. So the room seems dark and haunted. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and we barely could fall asleep. What's worst, for the room we stayed there is no separation between bath and bed. So it almost flooded the whole room after a shower !!! What a stupid design! The only good thing is the breakfast. Yes it is small but definitely not luxury.

One of the best boutique hotels anywhere. Ancient with modern and local touches. The restaurant and bar are superb as Jesus and his team were courteous, provided exceptional service and assisted above and beyond.

Stumbled upon the hotel while walking around city center and had a drink on the rooftop patio. Beautiful space but the staff were rude and argumentative when they got our order wrong. Love the space but wouldn’t recommend because of the unwelcoming waiters. But the concierge of the hotel was super lovely and happy to show us around.

The 4 bed rooms are Spartan and very affordable. But, man, if it isn’t winter, the rooms, esp. 3rd floor or higher, are really stuffy and hot. I had to sleep with the door open. The hotel’s rooms were full so guests from the hostel weren’t allowed to use the pool. Bonus, they have 24 hour front desk.

  • 1/5 Rei U. 2 years ago on Google
Amenities are as reduced as the price. Very basic breakfast. No kitchen to cook. Very small area for WIFI (NOT in rooms). Basically NO interest to have a better service.

Can’t say enough about this boutique hotel in the center of Mexico City. The property is totally unique with 17 quaint guest rooms and a well-trained staff that fully understands hospitality. From the start, it was very clear that the front desk manager, Jesús Chavez, was going to do everything possible to make our stay exceptional. He and his staff made sure that our entire visit was filled with satisfaction and enjoyment. The property is unique, beautiful and truly memorable. The breakfast lounge has many options and the rooftop restaurant is perfect for lighter meals and drinks. There are also two independent restaurants on the property that serve amazing food. A big plus is the location of the hotel which is within walking distance to parks, museums, shopping and endless dining options. Most importantly, the entire staff was outstanding and very eager to provide professional service throughout our entire stay.
