Nice new looking Mexican restaurant in downtown Arlington Heights. We went on a Monday evening for dinner and sat right down. Fresh chips with 3 different salsas were good. I had chicken fajitas for dinner which was also good. I look forward to returning.

The BEST dining experience! Elizabeth F was an incredible server she was so attentive and kind and made our dinner exceptional. The complimentary warm chips are fantastic and each of the salsas are so good. The mole is just incredible I want to try them all. I’ve been here twice in the past month and I will be back again and again! Great prices, amazing service and beautiful atmosphere! Get the mole enchiladas and frozen raspberry marg!

My wife and I love Mago. This was our first time at this location but it was as good as the other Mago locations we've been too. While Mago is a chain of restaurants, it holds to a higher standard of service and food quality and that's what makes it good. On our most recent visit, we attended a Day of the Dead inspired Tequila Pairing Dinner where 818 Tequila cocktails were created and paired with unique Mago dishes. These types of dinners allow the chefs to be creative and gives us, their patrons, the opportunity to try truly unique dinners that may never appear on the menu. This dinner was delicious and all the little details were considered to make it special. See my pictures for all the dishes. The Mago staff went all out for the Day of the Dead theme.

Enjoyed dinner here fall 2021. I like their food and the service was alright as well. We had the tamales appetizer and I give that dish 5 stars!!

Had a great lunch at Mago after exploring Arlington Heights all morning. The food was delicious and fresh, and moderately priced. A lot of great flavors -- and just enough heat from the spices! If I lived in Arlington Heights, this would be a frequent spot for me! Thank you for a great meal.

The restaurant was packed and pretty loud but other than that, the food was good and service was great. I really enjoyed the steak and shrimp fajitas. The tortillas were way too small though. The seviche was flavorful but it's more of a shrimp cocktail than ceviche. All in all a good place to dine if you don't mind the loud atmosphere.

The reason for 4 out of 5 stars was because the steak could have been seasoned a little more. Over all, everything we ordered from the menu was delicious. This was our first time trying this restaurant. Nice and bright inside restaurant. Very clean which I also appreciate. Will be back to try other menu items and to eat outside.

Great food however ... always great service and wonderful food this low rating is for the simple fact they aren't asking for proof of vaccine....this was Sunday 1/9/22. Thankfully wasn't very busy .

Food was excellent. Lots of choices and of top quality. Large selection of diet restrictions to choose from as well. Service was above and beyond par! Definitely on my permanent list of places to eat.

I love Mago! My company had a group dinner for 28 people at the Arlington Heights location last night, and it was a wonderful experience for everyone. I requested to sit outdoors since the weather forecast was in our favor. Due to the group size, I pre-ordered food to be served family style. It was all really delicious and plentiful. In retrospect, I should have told everyone what was on the menu so they could pace themselves :) We'll be back for sure. Thank you to Sergio and team!

Such a beautiful restaurant with bright Mexican colors. Masks on the top of the walls gives Modern Museums vibes. Started with complimentary chips and salsa, great choices on mild and spicy salsa! There is option to have fresh made guacamole by your table! Service is proffessional and nice! Ordered camaron and pescado (fish tacos) and Carne chihuahua. Presentation was pretty, but taste wasn't anything special, a bit disappointing. Meat could of be better quality and better cooked, cheese and all veggies made it kind of messy and not tasty all together. Had nice time, but don't plan to go back to be honest, other mexican restaurants in the area has better food.

Pretty good! The tortilla chips they serve at the beginning are warm and crispy. They will definitely fill you up. The live guacamole is a must try. The veggie fajitas were just super delicious. Chicken burrito was perfect and the portion size was huge. The left overs were delicious the next day too!

While you'll find yourself spending -slightly- more for mexican food here, you'll find yourself enjoying it twice as much as other local joints. The margaritas are well balanced, the atmosphere is fun and lively, and good god the food is great. You'll find me at a corner table sipping their salsas obsessively from a straw.

We just had my daughter’s baby shower at Mago and i can’t give them enough stars!! The kindest most helpful staff. Maria was outstanding making sure every guest was taken care of with a smile. Both servers were outstanding! Our guest raved about the food and the family style meal was perfect. I would not have changed a thing! Thank you Sergio and all the staff for making this the most wonderful day for your family.

Great and quick service, however food was just okay. Our food was cooked pretty fast. I got steak and shrimp fajitas. My steak was a little bit overcooked, had burnt flavor. We also had a steak burrito, it was alright.

Really good food. Great margaritas here and the three salsas you get with the chips are so tasty, especially the hot orange one.. It's not a traditional tacos, rice and beans Mexican restaurant, not that they don't have those things. Tasty sauces and sides. I'm not sure that Mexican style mashed potatoes or asparagus are authentic, but they sure are delicious! The availability of the asparagus was great for someone trying to keep it at least somewhat lower carb. My husband's fish dish had a side of chayote, which he never had before... But loved. So I guess I have to figure out how to cook that now. Anyways, great food. Cool decor on the inside, husband loved the wrestling masks.

My husband and l love to try new restaurants And as a Mexican who loves food i believe its hard to find GOOD authentic Mexican food. We were very happy to visit Mago Grl & Cantina Let’s start by saying that environment and the vibe of this place is fantastic Everything is so colorful and fun that immediately makes you feel happy 😃 Our server catalina was very friendly Fast and professional She speaks both languages very clearly I love speaking Spanish But my husband is Romanian so he felt good having catalina talking to him in English. She gave us a brief explanation about the roots of the restaurant and their moles She motivated us to comeback to try moles and mariachi! 😍 We started by trying their cocktails The names of sone are very funny 😆 but they are delicious 😋 i tried a perro salado i have to say that your mezcal’s are great ! My husband ordered the enchiladas de pollo and i had the enchiladas de hongos and spinach wooooow. They come with green cilantro rice yummy I was sooo grateful to see something different and not have the simple rice and beans 😒 For postre we ordered the flan Great texture sweet and the best thing was that touch of toasted coconut Wooow What i appreciate the most is having one of the managers stopping by our table to great and make sure we were ok. Thank you We will see you soon again

I got the Pechuga De Pollo with Mole De Cacahuate and it was delicious. The rice and crispy plantains paired nicely with the Mole and the crunch of the peanuts completed the dish perfectly. You honestly can't go wrong with any of their Mole dishes. Even their Frozen Mango Margarita was amazing. I highly recommend it.

I don’t know if I am expecting more or people are just rude. How come service industry don’t appreciate business no more. It seems they hate this job and our server was very rude. On top of that we got TWO plastic strings in our enchiladas. We asked to speak to manger and some non manager type person show up with no professionalism. He flat out said “unfortunately this happens all the time and there is nothing he can do” say what 😱 They have no moral responsibility and not even a courtesy to professionally apologize stating we see extremely sorry this happened and we will make sure it doesn’t happen again. This place is not even real Mexican taste. Horrible food, not even close to testing Mexican authentic. The ambience was nice and that is where it ends. So unless you want stapes (other review) and plastic in your food, don’t come here.

Wonderful high end Mexican restaurant the food was delicious! We order the guacamole and they make it fresh right infront of you. Christian the sever was exceptional. Very attentive and kind young man he has excellent customer service and it’s very courteous. It was our first time coming here and even though they were busy he answer all my questions and did his best at service. The place is a vibe had live music. The decorations are in the point from the wall decorations to the tables. We order the enchiladas, carne asada taco n some dessert. Can’t go wrong with this place. So next time you’re in south barrington come by.

Ambiance was nice. Had to wait longer though for our food, it’s really more than 15 minutes but steak was nice. Staff were easy to talk to but hard to get their attention even if it’s not that full. Overall, the drinks, steak and chips were delicious.

Legit amazing! The food, the atmosphere, drinks, service, everything! I mean legit the food was exceptional. My boyfriend said, “they’re giving Frontera a run for their money.” & I think that’s 100% accurate !
