Lovely museum on many levels It is a wonderful way to get to know Warsaw and its history, from its foundation till today. Each section has a core theme, some of which are quite particular: there is a glasswork room, a fashion room, a packaging room (amazing!), a watch room, and a map room, among many others. It is not always easy to bring together a cultural history from such disparate elements; this place does it. It is an impressively well designed museum, in an up-to-date exhibition style. I highly recommend it!

This is a very impressive museum. Take into account that it’s totally free on Thursday but most likely there will be a lot of tour groups that day. The overall collection is very impressive. On the basement floor there is a very informative part with the history of how the city was built, destroyed during WWII and rebuilt again. The 3D printed models give a good understanding of a scale and growth of the city. On the very top floor you will see a great view on the old square and the city. I definitely will recommend to come here the first thing, when you visit Warsaw.

I thought this museum would be small (had visited the Helsinki museum before, which didn't have much to offer), but to my surprise, it had a rich collection and multiple floors and rooms. I spent a very long time exploring, feeling like I was immersed in the historical currents of Warsaw, spanning from ancient times to the present: medieval, modern, pre-war, and post-war eras. The museum provided a comprehensive understanding of Warsaw's ethnography, culture, religion, and economic development. It must have been a truly enriching experience. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the history of this land. The staff was very friendly. Exiting the museum, the Old Town Square outside was a peaceful sight. I highly recommend this museum as it offers a delightful way to conclude your visit. 🌞

If you love history then a must visit place!! It’s really huge.. I visited on Thursday and entry was free!! Staff was friendly and you’ll see all the Artefacts that belongs to Polish history, specifically Warsaw. Entrance is just from the courtyard of the Old Town and you’ll find Christmas Market here too if you are visiting in the month of December!! Enjoy.. ☺️

Well-curated local museum, guides are helpful and informative, entrance is free on certain weekdays (visited on a Thursday for free), adjacent townhouses were preserved and reused as the city's museum. The museum has extensive collections from different historical periods.

Museum of Warsaw is located next to the Old Town Market Square. In the museum you can learn about the history of Warsaw. Museum is located in a historic building, where exhibits are distributed from the basement to the upper floors. Among the exhibits are a model of the city, ceramics, silverware, clothes, paintings and much more. In addition a beautiful view of the old town opens from the skylight.

(Translated by Google) Great museum! It is really worth visiting them, a very interesting exhibition, a nice team inside who will be happy to answer any questions that arise and also tell a lot of interesting facts :). On the plus side, the guides who told stories at the model of Warsaw and the painting by August Agbola O'Brown, shared their knowledge in a very interesting way, making us a great day! Such service is a treasure! We learned a lot from them. I heartily recommend! (Original) Super muzeum! Taka obsługa to skarb! Wiele się od nich dowiedzieliśmy. Serdecznie polecam!

One of the best museums in Warsaw, if not the best. A wide variety of items on display, including maps, paintings, glassware, pottery, and clothes, all very well exhibited. I visited on a Tuesday about 2 hours before close and it was not busy at all. Definitely go earlier though if you'd like to take your time with every room. I only got through 2 out of 4 levels on my first visit, but was happy to return the next day and see the other beautiful and fascinating exhibits. A great first stop on your visit to Warsaw.

Understated museum of the long complicated history of this wonderful city. Located in the perfect location in the midst of where the history took place. Quite comprehensive, extensive collection of items that tell a compelling story. It’s a must visit if you’re here.

Hidden gem. Excellent museum about the City of Warsaw, its history, and the history of people who lived & died in it. Very well done multi-lingual mobile guide, which is location-sensitive (i.e. recognizes which room you're in and adjusts accordingly). The Museum consists of 21 themed rooms, which may be visited pretty much in any order - although the recommended path is clearly marked on the floor. Thus a visitor can spend as little, or as much time, as they have. These rooms cover topics such as basic demographic data, archeology, maps and plans, photographs, art, medals, and coins, as well as modern history including the unprecedented destruction of Warsaw at the end of World War II. There is a nice panorama of the city from the 5th-floor viewing platform. Highly recommended!

Far bigger than I expected, I spent two hours here but could have been here longer. Interesting history of the city in a series of buildings on the city's main market square. An observation deck is on the top floor and although the building is a maze, there are staff on hand to help. Everything is in English and Polish, with some excellent maps from the city's history. Free entry on Thursdays.

I planned to visit this Museum on a Thursday as the entrance is free of charge on Thursdays. It's one of the must visit places if you're interested in knowing the history of Warsaw. Plan for a minimum of 2 hours to cover all 5 floors starting from bottom, with 20+ rooms of historical portraits, explanation charts and preserved objects. The staff were very friendly to help in every floor. A staff member even explained me about canvas paintings of 19th century, which I liked very much. The museum consists of furniture, partially destroyed sculptures, jewelry, coins found in excavation and many more. You can see color print of 90s too. On top floor you'll have observation deck, so plan to visit it in daylight. Worth a visit!

This museum is very special as it has arrows on the floor. This saves so much time, as the building is very complicated, on multiple floors. Guides are located in every room and they will also show you how and where to go. The view from the top of the building is magical.

(Translated by Google) I ordered the book in the Museum's online store, paid PLN 40 for the book and PLN 6.30 for the shipment via Polish Post. The parcel from Warsaw sent on January 7, arrived on January 11, covering a dizzying distance of 21 km. I got a book: damaged, with a torn cover and spine, with a scratched and stained hard cover. It is impossible to get through to the store, only a message that you can listen to the voicemail of the online store number by selecting the correct number (I still do not know how ...). I am dissatisfied. I understand that this is the best that the Museum and its shop can do. No more orders from this tabernacle. Every antiquarian bookstore, bookstore and internet warns about damages, only the Museum of Warsaw omits such information. I thought that three successful visits and sightseeing gave me some idea of the quality of service, I even bought stationary Warsaw legends during the second visit. And everything was fine. The worst thing is that the 2013 book is unavailable, it is not on the Allegro or in the publishing house. This will be the second and final book from this great store. I advise against shopping, it is not worth wasting money on an apparently used copy. (Original) Zamówiłam książkę w sklepie internetowym Muzeum, zapłaciłam 40 zł za książkę i 6,30zł za przesyłkę Pocztą Polską. Przesyłka z Warszawy wysłana, 7 stycznia, dotarła 11 stycznia, pokonując zawrotną odległość 21 km. Dostałam książkę: uszkodzoną, z rozerwaną okładką i grzbietem, z porysowaną i poplamioną twardą okładką.

(Translated by Google) The museum is located in eleven old town houses rebuilt after the war: eight on the side of the Old Town Square and three on Nowomiejska Street. It also includes three historic courtyards. Its collections include: archaeological exhibits, paintings, graphics, iconography, sculptures, arts and crafts, numismatics, plans and drawings. Some of them, available in the permanent exhibition "Seven Centuries of Warsaw", show the history of the city from its foundation to the present day. In the museum cinema, you can watch a documentary about Warsaw 1939-1945, shown from Tuesday to Saturday at 12.00 (in English; Polish, Spanish, French, German versions available on request) (Original) Muzeum mieści się w jedenastu odbudowanych po wojnie staromiejskich kamienicach: ośmiu od strony Rynku Starego Miasta i trzech przy ulicy Nowomiejskiej.

(Translated by Google) A number of interesting exhibitions, you can find interesting rooms for both adults and children. Unfortunately, the left-wing tilt of selected information about the most important events in the history of the city may be offensive. In addition to the adoption of the constitution on May 3, there was, for example, a gay parade or the so-called women's protest. A must visit if you are in Warsaw. Entrance is free during Thursdays, audio guides in English are also available. It looks small from the outside but once you get inside, there are a lot of rooms and stairs which feels like a maze. Don't forget to get a map so that you won't miss a single room! Lots of displays and detailed information about Warsaw from architectural designs, origin of the Warsaw population etc. There are also drawing materials scattered inside the museum that you can submit to them, to be feature in their website. The last floor gives you a great view of the adjacent buildings. I suggest to get an audio guide to fully enjoy the museum.

Great interiors. Currently, during the pandemic, part of the museum is closed to the public. The people working in the museum are on the plus side: contact, helpful. My eleven year old daughter liked it and found the staff "friendly". (Original) Czas zwiedzania: ok. 2 godz. Obecnie, w czasach pandemii część muzeum wyłączone ze zwiedzania. The sightseeing plan was originally planned, at the beginning it makes me feel a bit sorry for my time, but as we go through the rut of the room, we feel like seeing what's next and finally see the size of the entire facility. Several rooms were excluded from sightseeing, although you can see interesting things in them, so I decided to set aside one of the stars (Original) Muzeum warte odwiedzenia, jest dużo obszerniejsze niż może się to wydawać na początku.

Super interactive… very interesting setups Has at least one floor for anyone with different interests. 4 stars because some floors weren’t my cup of tea

This Museum was much larger than what I thought so I recommend you take at least 2.5 hours to visit it unless you want to rush it. Lots of items, I found the artifacts at the higher floors to be more interesting than the lower ones. From the top floor you can have a nice view of the square through a window.

The museum is in a multiple floor building, each floor and its rooms present a different aspect of the exhibition. I honestly expected more from this museum, at least a more interesting insight of how the city looked before and during the war. The path to follow is quite a labyrinth, and the staff is a little pedantic about the order of the rooms. I see why, since as I told it's "labyrinthical", but sometimes I just wanted to skip a part that didn't particularly interest me and they seemed to insist too vehemently about the order (they're very nice but the result is some awkward situations). Overall, I wouldn't say this is a must-visit place in Warsaw, but still interesting if you enjoy visiting museums.

Beautiful museum, it has a lot of interesting things, and surpassingly it's gigantic, totally looks way smaller from the outside!

The city museum has risen to the challenge posed by the new museums of Warsaw. They have an eclectic collection of stuff nicely installed. I particularly liked the data section and the mermaid animation. Be warned that you have to reserve in advance if you want to see the renowned film (best place to have a nap in the city center) and the top floor viewing are was closed when we were there.

The actual content of the museum is great. However, the accessibility of the museum is a problem. There are low ceilings/doorways with little signage or warning. During my visit, I knocked my head on one of these stone doorways so hard I had an aura in my vision and couldn't see straight. A docent saw the incident, watched me struggle, and refused to even speak to me or ask if I was okay until I was sobbing in front of her. She was then flippant and rude about the incident. No incident or accident report was taken. They did not offer to help me in any way. We tried to continue on with the tour, but a guide forced us up to the viewing deck despite the fact that I was having trouble walking up the stairs. Anyway, when my vision started to blur, we decided it was time to go home. The museum itself is lovely, but the staffing and incident protocol leads much to be desired.

The exhibition is well thought out. Rooms are filled to the brim with unique items. You can spend hours in the museum’s cellars! I would highly recommend following the arrows marking sightseeing direction.

Really nice! I loved maps and views of Warsaw! I left half of the floors for other time, it’s too much for one day :)

Really loved this museum and will come back! I thought it is a small one,but turned out it is huge! But didn't regret a minute. It was worth it. You need at least 2-3 hours for visiting it and comfortable shoes.

I liked the exposition, the way the museum was organized. Besides, the building itself was charming. 5 floors of exibition, took me 2.5-3 hours.

This museum is very interesting and gives a lot of information on Warsaw, such as demographic data or old maps which was how it was. It's great since you can have an idea on how it was before the WWII. This is why I think this museum has something more if compared with museums on the history of the cities I have already visited. Plus, the staff is very kind and the temporary exhibition was amazing!

Very Nice and enjoyable experience. I wish I had more Time to explore all the rooms and the viewpoint, but, since the weather was not the best - well, rainy - I plan to return. On the other side, good hiding spot in a wet weather. If You like things, souvenirs, history and/or architecture, just go and see.

Quite entertaining museum which gives an overview of development Warsaw as the city. Lots of interactive exhibitions, the floor marked by arrows that you have to follow and explore the museum on comfortable pace. From the top floor you will have a nice view of the old city Square and the old city itself.

Museum focused on the development and prewar history of krakow/Cracow. Informative, if quite dry, museum. We enjoyed this museum, it’s a good place to visit if you enjoy in depth history. Given that there are lots of museums to visit in Warsaw, I’m not sure if I’d make visiting this one a priority.

Really great museum, absolutely enormous with a huge amount of exhibits. I love the modern, interactive displays (drawers, magnifier glasses) and miniature displays. Entry on Thursdays is free. The staff are great, very helpful, some speak English and will make the visit absolutely fabulous. Definitely a must see if you're in Warsaw.

This is the place to go if you want to learn more about Warsaw itself. It’s in a row of conjoined houses in the old town, and the story of the museum itself is like a microcosm of the story of Warsaw itself during and after the war. Allow 90 mins to 2 hours to go round in full.

Rather interesting museum! Very good navigation! And actually a lot of information for different interests. Everybody will find something for himself

It is much bigger than it seems, so spare 2h at least if you plan to see the whole exposition: there are 6 levels, don’t miss the rooftop level with nice view over market square. The collection is rich and there is plenty of information. It is worth to visit temporary exhibitions too as they are always good and the extra charge is bearable.

Well it tell tells the story of Warsaw. But everything in the beginning is black and white charts. It's like walking into a big power point presentation. Not very appealing, there are nice objects later on but there is no curation. Bunch of clocks, bunch of paintings, bunch of bronze statues and so on. POLIN museums is way better, it's focused on the Jews but also tells the story of Warsaw and Poland better and more engaging. The view from the top is very nice 👍🏼

Dominik approached us with so much class and kindness. He spent over an hour giving us a personal tour of the architecture focused painting and the model city of Warsaw. He knows so much about the city of Warsaw and he's so interesting to listen to. He deserves a lot of praise for how much love he has for his job.

if you like maze-like basements, maps, and Things, then this is the museum for you!! i had a great time and the human geographer in me got overexcited about the maps and graphics showing the spatial development of warsaw, but it was fairly dry for the average museum-goer probably (aka my sister). the basement space was really cool, and if the exhibit was more adapted to the space it would have been incredible!! but we were endlessly entertained by how well it captured the concept of a museum; Things in rooms!! walking on the creaky floors and stairs into room after room (and yet another room) just full of Stuff?? 10/10.

If you like museums there's something here for everyone. Usually free on a Thursday including audio guide. There's a lot of stairs, my advice is ignore the starting point, take the lift up to floor 2, walk to the floor 5 viewpoint then walk down to each floor. The audio guide will follow you wherever you are, no need to do it in order.

Very nice museum in the heart of Warsaw! Especially the part about the statistics and maps about the city was interesting to me! The price (and student discount) are totally fair for what you get!

The museum is located right in the Market Square in Old Town, so it’s easy to combine the museum visit and an Old Town sightseeing tour. It was a very insightful and interesting experience for me - I learned a lot about the history of Warsaw in the context of Polish history. The museum staffs were very friendly and helpful and also spoke very good English. The displays have English descriptions so it’s not a problem if you don’t know Polish. Some rooms were a bit dark so it was difficult to read the information accompanying the displays, but the general experience was really worth it. I really recommend this museum to anyone who wants to know more about the culture and history of Poland, especially Warsaw.
